1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Bios doesn't detect all GPUs... on: January 16, 2019, 05:31:41 PM
Well, I thought I had done that many times... But now I'm struggling again.

I can't get the damn bios to "see" all six Vega GPUs that are plugged on it. Sometimes it'll detect them all, but usually it'll only find four or five. No damn idea why.

MoBo is a MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon
8GB ram
Pentium G3900 CPU

I've had this very mobo running seven RX570's for two years.

Now I swap them for six Vegas and it goes all retard on me.
Flashed the latest bios, increased PCIe latency... But no progress.

If anybody has any brilliant idea, now is the time!...

3  Economy / Scam Accusations / NanoX miner is a scam, contains virus on: December 07, 2018, 05:20:29 PM
NanoX miner is a scam, it contains a virus.

I've reported his thread three times, given the guy negative trust, but admins aren't deleting or banning him.

Here's a link to the thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5025045.0
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Has anyone managed to mine x16r with RX Vega GPUs properly? on: August 31, 2018, 11:39:48 AM
So I'm trying to get a decent miner to work on my rig of 6xVega 56 (flashed to 64).

Tried Avermore 1.4.1: doesn't start after loading the kernel. Screen stays blank.
Tried Zawawa's GGS but it's not optimised and does no more than 10 MH/s per card.

Any more suggestions?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / TaTaTu...what? on: August 24, 2018, 01:33:04 PM
So I was browsing the top 100 coins on coinmarketcap... and stumbled upon that one called TaTaTu for the first time... Nofacking clue what that was so I clicked on it... It's quite a smart concept actually. They reward you with tokens for watching movies, series, sports etc, which, and redirect some of the ad revenue to you.

I signed up. Got 50 tokens straight away. And when I started watching a movie I saw the wallet counter slowly rise. Sign up to the beta, get friends on board and profit even more.

I've got no affiliation to the company. Just tried it out and found it quite a nice concept. If you click on my link, both you and I will get tokens. If not, all props to you - I'm just making people aware of it and contribute to the joy of having this community!  Cheesy

You can check out TaTaTu beta and sign up here

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Can you run a Linux mining distro inside a Windows virtual machine? on: May 18, 2018, 09:54:10 AM
Warning: this is a very n00bish question. But yeah. I am a Linux noob.

I know you can run Linux "inside" a Windows Virtual Machine. Would it be possible to theoretically install a Linux based mining OS (eg. hive) and run it in an Oracle VM virtual box?

Reason I'm asking is I do have a couple of remote rigs I can only access with Teamviewer, and I'd like to try a couple of Linux-only miners. I'm pretty confident I know the answer to the above but I'd love to hear it from the more experienced Linux users out there.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What's the best nVidia miner for Tribus currently? on: May 11, 2018, 09:32:00 AM
I started mining Tribus with my rig of 1080's yesterday but I seem to get lower hashrates than I potentially could...

I average 60 Mh/s per 1080 (core mildly overclocked). Using tpruvot's ccminer v2.2.3. Latest nVidia driver, Cuda 9.2.

According to the calculators these GPUs should get closer to 75? Any suggestions?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / AMD Vega rig uses 50% more power than it should on: April 11, 2018, 08:00:18 PM
My Vega rig takes more power than it should.
Basically, even when I set power limit to zero and all voltages and clocks manually either in overdriventool or wattman, the wattage at the wall is almost 50% higher than it should be for the given values.

It's like the power limit would max itself out and ignore the zero value I set.

Updating driver didn't help. The only way seems to be to re-apply soft pp tables in registry (which sucks, don't wanna do that every time I switch algo to mine).

Any ideas?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Right... Played with reg files, now Windoze won't boot... on: March 18, 2018, 12:53:30 PM
Guess I set GPU voltages too low. Or whatever. Anyway now Win10 will not start. What are my options?

I have a 6x Vega rig on Onda D1800. Access to the rig is difficult so the less I physically have to tamper with it, the better. Would flicking the secondary bios switch make Windows recognise it as a new GPU (and generate a new reg entry)?

Or will I have to reinstall Win10?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Media creation tool with 1709 included? on: March 16, 2018, 08:11:07 AM
Installing Win10 on mining rigs takes such a long time nowadays as you have to wait for the damn thing to download fall creator update... And then install it...

Why isn't M$ including 1709 in the media creation tool? Or am I missing something?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Overdriventool - Failed to set power parameters for GPU on: March 15, 2018, 12:37:46 AM
I'm getting this error message when I try to apply a set of values onto my Vega cards (56 flashed to 64 liquid).

Here's my reg file:

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is it possible to mine to an internal Nicehash address? on: March 05, 2018, 08:43:56 PM
I'm setting up an external miner for a friend who used to only mine with the buggy Nicehash Miner.

As he doesn't yet have an own BTC wallet, I was wondering if I could setup ahashpool or zergpool to mine to his internal Nicehash BTC wallet as a temporary measure?

He also has a Coinbase wallet but I don't think it supports direct mining to exchange wallet...
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is there any way to monitor mem errors on Vega? on: February 26, 2018, 12:18:57 AM
As the title says...
Is there any way to monitor hbm errors on rx vega cards? Would help with fine-tuning overclocks, like on polaris gpus...
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Check your risers, miners... on: February 21, 2018, 11:46:09 AM
As always, one of my rigs started to act up whilst I was on holiday. One GPU would start showing 511C errors, crash the miner and the rig within a few sec. Seeing that this couldn't be fixed remotely I cut the power to that rig completely using the tp-link smart plug app and decided to address it when I got back.

It was quite an easy diagnostic:

https://flic.kr/p/ETFBZz

Flimsy Chinese risers. Always make sure you got a few spares, and don't insist on powering up a failing rig remotely if you suspect there's a hardware/power error.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to force compute in Adrenalin if Radeon Settings aren't installed? on: February 08, 2018, 05:05:19 PM
So... how do I enable compute mode in the driver when I haven't got AMD Settings installed?
Can't find the damn thing in registry.
Also, the installer won't let me install AMD Settings separately now (I only installed the driver previously), only option I have is to uninstall the whole damn thing...  Huh Roll Eyes Tongue Angry
17  Economy / Economics / Model me this, taxman! (UK) on: January 15, 2018, 01:52:15 PM
So I've got 4 mining rigs.

- Rig one and two mine ETH for 35 hours and 23 minutes. Then ETN for 3 days. Then Cryptonight on Nicehash (straight to BTC) for a week... and then ETN ultil the end of the month. I exchange any altcoin mining proceeds to BTC at various arbitrary days.
- Rig three mines ETN for 30 days in a row. I exchange the proceeds against BTC.
- Rig four mines all sorts of coins & algos. Some autoexchange to BTC, some for a couple of days to their own wallet. I exchange any alcoin balance against BTC at the end of the month.

3 days into the next month I exchange 72% of the earned BTC against GBP.

1) What do I declare to the taxman?

Let's add more complexity:

The BTC proceeds I did not cash out I exchange for ETH and invest into a token ICO. 2 months later, I get an allocation of 10'000 tokens. The price of said coin goes up by 200%. I do not sell anything.

2) What to I declare to the taxman?
3) I decide to sell the proceeds of the ICO against BTC. What do I declare to the taxman?
4) I decide to cash out a round amount of BTC (some from ICO proceeds, mixed up with all sorts of mining proceeds). What do I declare to the taxman?

I'm like everyone, I don't like to pay taxes. But I don't want any problems with the HMRC. The problem is that I do not have a single clue about what I should declare, and how I am supposed to deal with the scenarios above (which are all real-life scenarios). The HMRC guidelines are - let's face it - useless.

Discuss.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Need a little help for my monitoring script code... on: January 12, 2018, 10:00:25 PM
Hello fellow miners

I've been trying to convert Sverox's script to use with another miner (it's just monitoring whether the miner is running and if not, attempts to restart it).

I'm struggling with this line:

TIMEOUT /T %varSeconds%
FOR /F %%x IN ('tasklist /NH /FI "IMAGENAME eq %EXE%"') DO IF %%x == %EXE% goto aProcessFound

For some reason, even if the miner is running, the script doesn't find it and starts another one.

Any ideas?
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / anybody mining x17 with AMD? on: December 24, 2017, 11:18:42 AM
...if so, what miner are you using and what hashrates are you getting? Wondering what I would get with my rx 570's and Vega 56's. Would be a change from EThash and Cryptonight...
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Unstable rig when mining x17 on: December 21, 2017, 11:24:01 AM
Was wondering if other people were experiencing similar sorts of issues.

When mining equihash using DSTM (or even EWBF), neoscrypt, lyra2v2, lyra2z, Nist5 using various versions of ccminer, my rig of 1080's is perfectly stable.

When I mine x17, it just keeps crashing. I've tried ccminer Alexis78 and ccminer-Cuda9. At the beginning they'd just keel over after a few minutes.

The miner displays an error message: GPU #0: an illegal memory access was encountered... and then crashes.

I've reduced overclock on memory, no change. Reduced core speed, no change. Reduced intensity, no change. Only by setting "force P2 state" to OFF in nvidiaprofileinspector was I able to achieve more stability. The miner will still crash several times a day nonetheless.

Temperatures are all fine (GPU's in mid-60's), PSUs have lots of overhead margin.

If anyone has any idea, I'd be all ears.
