6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What if... on: December 02, 2017, 05:08:33 AM
What if you physically damaged your hardware wallet. What sort of recovery process is there?
7  Bitcoin / Pools / KanoPool - yay a block on: December 01, 2017, 08:36:49 PM
Finally we got a block after a few days, although I was only contributing the past 24 hours and my reward was small.

I don't see the reward showing up in my wallet, yet.  I also don't see it on the blockexplorer.

A few questions about reward payments from kanopool:

1) where can I find the transaction number?

2) what fee do they apply to them?

3) Is there ever a problem with reusing addresses?

It turns out the payout address was still an older address, though from the same electrum wallet so I assume if anything is sent to that address it would still show up and I still own that address, right?

Any addresses from past transactions, if anything is sent to them, would still come to me, right?

10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Let's say that if on: October 28, 2017, 04:43:41 PM
Let's say that I wanted to contribute to the development of bitcoin.  What would be your suggestion in regards to the route to take, as in what parts to start with?

I've always found it confusing and difficult to contribute to an open source project. In fact, I've never successfully done it. I've always wanted to, but I guess I didn't want to bad enough. Every time I'd want to contribute, I'd hit a wall I couldn't scale of one kind or another. I suppose those failures are a result of my own shortcomings. I've since, finally, aimed a spotlight on my blind spot of computer technology. I had achieved a level of comfort in the areas of support, networking and routing protocols, sys admin... But the big blind spot had always been programming and the methodologies of software development. Trying to teach it to myself was an absolute overflow of information, so I did a bachelor program online and went with a structured program. I'm really glad I did, because I really like the structure of knowledge. I've since been developing in Android Studio in my spare time, still working in IT support. I want to achieve bigger things in my career, and contribute where I can. I first found bitcoin in 2013 when a friend of mine and I were playing around with the idea of digitally stored value. The correct google search syntax resulted in my first exposure to the project 'bitcoin'. I saw the potential to disrupt fiat currency markets for a more positive result for humanity.  I got a bad taste in my mouth a couple years ago when I was set up to mine on a KNC neptune, which obviously never happened. I took some time off. I'm here, again, curious if there's anything I can contribute, besides hashing power. Question to those who DO actually contribute on to the core project: Should I contribute?
11  Economy / Service Discussion / Blockchain.info Bitcoin Gold on: October 26, 2017, 06:01:17 PM
blockchain.info hasn't made an official statement on the Bitcoin Gold fork, have they? I assume they're going to do the same thing they did with Bitcoin Cash, but who knows.

Looks like Bitcoin Gold continues to tank, so maybe they'll not bother with it?
12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon 741, power source on: October 24, 2017, 09:12:51 PM
I am curious what requires there are for power at the wall.

My two 741's which I have coming require 2x650W each, so 4 total.

How would I go about crunching the numbers to determine how I should be connecting this to power at the wall?

I appreciate your input...
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon 741, video output on: October 24, 2017, 07:14:28 PM
Is it possible to view the administrative console directly from the HDMI out?

I current just see a root shell on the screen. The only way I can access the admin GUI is the connect via to the controller via HTTP.

Edit: obviously I'm referring to the controller

 Huh
14  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalonminer 741 x 2 , multiple pools on: October 23, 2017, 11:52:22 PM
Haven't yet received them, but: Is it easy to set up my Avalonminer 741's (x2) to use separate mining pools? Huh
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Blockchain.info Bitcoin Gold, hard fork, and BTC on: October 23, 2017, 08:45:40 PM
Ok, so I use blockchain to store my wallet.

I notice that I'm able to access a hidden away part of my profile on the website to access Bitcoin gold, and I notice my balance of BTC has remained in tact..

It appears that I now own both BTC and bitcoin gold?

This makes sense, because my wallet would contain the same data on both blockchains. Therefore, I'd be able to access the wallet on both blockchains and send or receive from each while not affecting the other.

Am I missing something here? I've been reading about some people saying that blockchain.info will be converting everthing to bitcoin cash, which of course I don't.

http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2014/03/why-bitcoin-can-no-longer-work-as-a-virtual-currency-in-1-paragraph/359648/

I hate to admit it, but this story makes a lot of sense.

We can't legally trade BTC for BTC, we taxes at every level because its property not currency.....

Can someone please provide another, hopefully more positive, way to look at this?
