3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is there a security risk in reusing paper wallets? on: January 07, 2016, 05:08:04 PM
I would like to know if there's a security risk in reusing paper wallets?

Both ways.

Is it risky to send multiple transactions to the paper wallet?  How so?  Why?

After a paper wallet has been swept, is it safe to keep using it again (put more coin on it)?
How so?  Why?

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Conservatives vs. Liberals in Bitcoin - Will we or will we not change? on: June 28, 2015, 06:23:50 AM
Recently many discussions are forming from different sides and ideals for some sort of major or minor CHANGE.

I believe the best future for bitcoin is to preserve the core of the code and ideas and ONLY patch SECURITY issues as they come up.

I want bitcoin AS IT IS and DO NOT wish for it to "upgrade".

Upgrade… And I Show You How Deep The Rabbit Hole Goes.

Your thoughts.
8  Other / Meta / A letter to the members of Bitcointalk forum... from a member... on: April 17, 2015, 02:15:57 AM
The monetization of the forum has destroyed the very essence of what discussion is about.

Having moderators judge what is and isn't a "substantial post" is like the thought police.

Banning members by judging their contribution to the subjects rather than removing members and posts from running ponzi scams and hyip is absurd.

There are many members here who have turned into professional re-writers.  Topics are filled with them.  Long post with nothing in it.  They post hundreds of spam posts each weekly.  All seem to say something but, if you look at them as a whole, it's the same song and dance over and over reworded to bypass your spam filter.

Signatures aren't going anywhere but i ask you to pay attention and read.

CLICK THE "REPORT TO MODERATOR" button.  It only takes a second.

10  Other / Meta / WTF? The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing.. on: January 27, 2015, 09:09:22 PM
Once in a while i come upon a post on blockchained that links me to this!

"The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you."

why are some topics off limits to me?

or was it a created post that is deleted prior to me trying to click the link?

thanks
11  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / The COLD Winter Chill... Its Effect on mining, profitability, and difficulty? on: November 20, 2014, 04:24:39 AM
the current weather is making mining cheaper and easier for home users due to decrease in cooling cost

liquid technology like c1 and the old equipment that could be converted to liquid and benefit from the chill

is this the silence before the storm in terms of current level of difficulty increases or will we remain mostly quiet

in general at current prices will the cold bring an increase in difficulty?

if it doesn't will spring bring miner panic?

not bullish or bearish, just discussing :-)

edit: self moderated just for fun.  i probably won't delete any posts
12  Other / Meta / We Don't Accept Unconfimed Transactions, Why Accept BS Posts All Day? on: October 04, 2014, 10:47:07 AM
last few months a rise in "new" users has created a haze over the world of bitcointalk.

so much positive and negative bs.  so many new users, so many aliases, so many bought accounts.
so much speculation on fud in both btc and scamcoin world.

we need a button to flag or vote to delete a post or response.

simple math, say 51% of viewers flag it.. its gone.  the majority denied the message.  we as a community have deemed it inappropriate or undesired.  it is not enough to ignore.

we can change things!

Opinions welcomed :-)

14  Economy / Service Discussion / BITCOIN SCAM. Please Be aware. Blockchain users at risk of being scammed fools! on: August 10, 2014, 06:28:37 AM
haha.. gotcha on the topic.. but on a more serious note.

user info has been leaked and some people, whether users of blockchain or not, are receiving automated phone calls saying their info is compromised and are provided a link to log into their accounts to verify.  obviously this is fake.  i wont post the fake links as i believe they also contain malware.

numbers i have seen..

702-537-0958 this number has been used in the past for some political related survey and probably identity collection scams as seen via google search

877-400-9321 this seems to be a real company based in staten island ny.. not sure why they are part of it.. maybe their phone systems have been compromised

be aware..
protect your btc..

on a side note, don't keep more than your spending habits with a 3rd party
15  Bitcoin / Pools / IS GHASH.IO Cheating Miners? Paying LESS THAN 50% of expected? on: August 01, 2014, 04:48:54 AM
issues with ghash?
anyone experiencing the same as well or am i totally wrong?

example.. 1 TH mining power i should be earning 0.02684 daily according to bitcoinwisdom with best conditions at current diff.
past 3-4 days or so i'm making less than 0.012 per th.

previously when ghash was mining every 3rd or 4th block i would get close to expectations -20% to -25%

1) is this acceptable?
2) if the total hash rate of ghash has dropped and my hashrate remains the same per block found, i should not have my overall earnings affected over time?

is my logic correct? where am i mistaken?
i have checked my miners and they are hashing at normal speed.
16  Economy / Service Discussion / Playing the market? Which exchanges to use? Limits? on: July 28, 2014, 04:58:27 PM
i would like to play the market with a few coins.  nothing big.

i want to be able to be in and out quickly and be able to deposit and more importantly withdraw coins without delay.

which exchanges would you recommend?
what are their limits?
what kind of fees are expected for trading and deposits/withdrawals?
limits for withdrawals or deposits?

i don't want my coin stuck in an exchange waiting for verification.. etc..
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Would you blacklist/block any coins/addresses if given the option?? BTC BS on: June 13, 2014, 04:02:57 AM
give individual miners the ability to blacklist

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=650425.0

feel free to reply with any addresses you would like to prevent from moving any coins thereby rendering them worthless
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Miners have NO power, NO vote, Where is this Decentralization? BTC BS on: June 13, 2014, 03:20:28 AM
everyone talks about consensus in the network and miners having power.

all of this is total BULLSHIT.  no one has any control now.. nor any vote on what happens.

no one mines their own coin.  we all mine pools and do what the pool operator wants.

in a perfect world i don't agree with blocking coins or any pool having more than 5% of the hash rate.

i would like people who do want coins blocked to have a vote.. which they don't.  there seem to be A LOT of people who want particular coins/addresses blocked or we wouldn't keep having this discussion on thread after thread day in and out whenever something happens.

can the pool operators add a blacklist in their interface?
can each individual miner to decide who to blacklist?

if enough miners wanted to block with a major concensus by not including, or delay only slightly with a partial agreement, a transaction, then they could. VOTING.

if a pool started with this feature i think people would flock like geese to have a real vote.
