2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Darkcoin's Astro chart on: May 19, 2014, 12:59:53 PM
Hi, I would like to do for Darkcoin [DRK], originally called XCoin, the same as I did for Bitcoin and Litecoin, I realize that astrology is an anathema to some so please skip this thread if you disapprove of mystic mumbo jumbo - as the original threads show though it is of sufficient interest to some to warrant a look at from this perspective if only out of curiosity.

See futher down the OP for a higher res chart added now.

The date and time of the working launch was 11 PM EST on the 18th of January 2014 (I think that made it 9 PM local time) which had a few hiccups so a look at the launch chart of a few hours earlier which got stuck may also be of interest, the place is Phoenix, Arizona where Evan Duffield the creator of Darkcoin lives and works. That linked article is a good intro, at this time I would recommend mintpal as an Exchange.

There's a unusually large number of squares (13), trines (10) & oppositions (8 ) in this very dynamic chart which is cool and is going to make things interesting, a preponderance of Earth & Water signs - practical, methodical, hard working and fluid, sensitive, intuitive. The Earth ones being mostly Cardinal, good for energetic start-ups and the Water ones mainly Fixed and Mutable to help with adjustment, adoption, innovation, stability, etc.

For more on these & other aspects see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrological_aspect

Darkcoin like Bitcoin is a Capricorn, so plenty of ambition and long term plans there.

I'll post more interpretations later, with edits to add to this OP:

Re: the original XCoin name; in the chart there's a powerful Cardinal Grand Cross of Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Pluto & Venus.

3  Local / Markt / Selling LTC in the Nederlands on: April 29, 2014, 07:20:19 PM
Please to excuse my present lack of Dutch, I'm only just starting to learn it, if anyone would like to buy any LTC with no fees, commission or third party risks, then I can sell at https://btc-e.com/exchange/ltc_usd 'last price' (top left of page) and www.xe.com for $ to € by Internet banking transfer to my Dutch ING account, minimum sale atm is €100.

I have sold many tens of thousands of Euros worth of coins in Holland for cash P2P over the last year, my reputation & feedback: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=289875.msg3113010#msg3113010.

To start with I'm only offering to sell coins, later on with customers that I've done business with I expect to also offer to buy at the current market spot rate as well.

I have BTC, LTC, BC, NXT, & DRK available, but would prefer to start with LTC for now.

Please to email me on richart@gmail.com if interested,
heel hartelijk bedankt

If I met you last month at the Cavia Arthouse meet up in AMS, hi - it was very good, I have been traveling ever since but am now back at home base and will send those I met some pics etc this week, sorry for the delay.

4  Economy / Speculation / When will 1 BTC = $1,000 Prize Competition. on: October 28, 2013, 10:33:19 AM
I'd like to do a similar competition to those that I've done in the past (see under Rep in my sig), this time to forecast when 1 BTC = $1,000.

I have put 1 BTC in as a prize, but due to there being many ppl with multiple accounts now on the forum there will be a small entry fee this time which will be added to the prize jackpot.

So you can now enter as many times as you like with the same forum ID, but for each date chosen you need to send 0.01 BTC to 1Thousand & add a Public Note in blockchain.info wallets with the date/s that you've chosen, plus your forum ID if you want.

Alternatively post your chosen date/s here along with your transaction ID - please don't edit your dates except for typos/clarity, my rules & common sense, i.e. if someone puts the same date as one already chosen the first person wins it & ambiguous dates will be void. If you choose a date/s that are already taken then I'll ask you to change it, or allocate the next available date/s to you.

The blockchain will be used to show the order of the entries received, rather than by the posts here & the dates chosen/allocated will be those shown in post #2 here.

Please express dates as YYYY MM DD or as 29th Feb 2017 say, entries will be closed on the 1st May 2014 when the Bitcoin price hits $500 (but this may be extended by popular demand up to say $750-ish if the majority of those playing wish). Closest guess wins obviously, dates are by GMT/UTC time.

If your chosen date/s have already been taken, then you will be allocated the next available dates.

Price to be taken as on the highest volume exchange at the time, ie atm it's Mt. Gox.

Edit to add, see jimbobway's post, also a trust or fund, ETF etc, (like WBT or BIT), even an FBI auction for that matter, if it has the highest volume on the day & the trade is public (Bloomberg terminals count), then yes that would definitely be OK.

All funds sent to the entry address will go in to the jackpot, check the current balance here, no refunds will be offered. My rules & common sense for anything overlooked or unexpected.

See post #2 for a summary of entries to date, which updates every so often, but quite often, at least daily usually atm.

Summary

Send 0.01 BTC per date chosen to:

1ThousandAF3VeVnQtteX6htvjZoREs35

Add a Public Note with your date choice/s or post here with your tx ID & date choice/s.

If your chosen date/s have already been taken, then you will be allocated the next available dates.

First come, first served. Good luck!

As he has locked the thread, here is one for investors waiting to hear what's going on.

Note quote is from 2013 08 16 & not the 8th, but still well over 2 weeks of no news, anyone had an email/heard anything?

Hey all.

I am locking this thread, and will correspond with all partners through their registered e-mail address.  Look for something regarding the liquidation in the next 2 weeks.

6  Economy / Gambling / Otoh 10 BTC TOTAL LOTTO - Provably fair - Zero house edge - Draw Friday 13th. on: September 07, 2013, 10:19:22 PM
10 BTC TOTAL LOTTO, Provably fair, Zero house edge, Draw Friday 13th Sept. at 22:00 UTC (15:00 LA, 18:00 NY, 23:00 UK, 00:00 CET)

An offering, or way of giving back, some of the profits that I was lucky enough to gain on Just-Dice recently & since.

I'm making a provably fair lotto on top of https://just-dice.com to be drawn live there on 'Friday the 13th' Sept at 22:00 UTC (15:00 LA, 18:00 NY, 23:00 UK, 00:00 CET), there will be 100 tickets at 0.1 BTC each numbered from 00 to 99, ticket sales will stop at 5 minutes before the draw is due, if less than 100 sell then l commit to buying up the remaining ones, to mark the cut off time I will send a token 1 BTC to the lotto, any entries received after that will be returned, I will make the total up to exactly 10 BTC soon after.

I will be on JD chat with user ID: 77777 & at the draw time I will randomize the seed a few times, do a few small random bets & then make one JD bet of 3 BTC (so it will also show up in the chat), the resulting first 2 digits of the JD lucky number will be the winning ticket for a 5 BTC first prize, the second 2 digits will be the winning ticket for a 3 BTC second prize & the final 2 digits will be the winning ticket for a 2 BTC third prize, very simple & provably fair.

There is zero house edge so all 10 BTC will be shared by the 3 winning tickets, they will be numbered in the order that they are received on blockchain.info/address/17777777d8aBUWuLggZg9A6BYTDuHJXZhe - please send only from addresses that your winnings can be sent back to, (if you send from multiple addresses in one tx then just the first one will be used), to claim your prize if you win either contact me in JD chat live or post here, no time limit.

Send any multiple of 0.1 BTC to 17777777d8aBUWuLggZg9A6BYTDuHJXZhe & to avoid confusion any lesser or extra amounts will be counted as donations, (ie 0.333 BTC gets 3 tickets & donates 0.033 BTC or 0.01 BTC gets no tickets & has just donated 0.01 BTC to a charity, see last para).

I will list the ticket holder's numbers & BTC addresses here in post #2, if you would like your name added as well then please to include it in the transaction message (easy to add with https://blockchain.info/wallet) or post your tx here, any suggestions are welcome, this is not connected with JD itself but I ran it by dooglus first & he's fine with me doing this (hopefully it will be good publicity & bring new investors/players to the site), I shall ask Deb to lock withdrawals for one of my JD accounts with over 10 BTC in it for two weeks or until after the jackpot is seen to have been fairly been payed out.

In the rare case of Internet/computer failure the draw will be made asap after 22:00 UTC if it's just rebooting or similar needed, but if it's something that takes longer than 10 minutes to fix, like very severe thunderstorms in my locale, then it will be postponed until the same time of the following day but this is most unlikely & should have advance notice in any case.

I realize that 0.01 BTC & 1,000 tickets using the first, the middle overlapping as 3rd, 4th, 5th say & last 3 digits of the LN for the 3 prizes may be more user friendly/popular but am starting in the simplest way & also so as not to clash with others offering the lower entry level lottos, if more than a few tickets to this 0.1 BTC lotto sell then I imagine repeating it once per month perhaps depending on the charity donations.

Why am I doing this? To make the best & simplest provably fair lotto with 100% of entry money going to the winning players, I invest in JD so it is in my interests if this attracts some extra bets there, also for fun - I enjoy playing proven honest lotteries especially at zero house rake! Mostly though in order to support a charity fund that I set up, if you would like to check it out:

https://sites.google.com/site/hannahlogo/home

This site also serves as a intro guide if anyone asks you for some info about virtual currencies, especially the Home, DIY & Litecoin info pages, any lotto player or winner who makes a donation here will be listed on the site's donor page with my sincere thanks plus the good karma that comes from selflessly helping both Bitcoin & others, pledges welcome.

If anyone would like any specific ticket number, or series of numbers starting from a specific number, then please to add that in a message to the tx along with a minimum of 0.01 BTC donation to the fund & so long as the number/s have not been taken already they will be allocated to you, if taken then you will need to re-choose. If you want to pick some non-consecutive numbers then it's a 0.01 BTC min donation for each one chosen.

My decisions will be binding & will be made as fairly as possible to all players with common sense in the case of any unforeseen events, by participating you agree to accept all the above terms & conditions.

Many thanks & good luck!

Tickets @ 0.10 BTC to 17777777d8aBUWuLggZg9A6BYTDuHJXZhe

Edit to add: Re my rep, forum member since 08 June 2011 with never any problems, many deals & also gifted a lot of coins in free competition & donations, see post #17 for details & links.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / FREE competition PRIZE 0.77777 BTC or 33 LTC on: August 11, 2013, 09:57:31 PM
Same as this previous one, but with bigger bounty:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=262293.msg2811441#msg2811441

Newbies Competition, but open to all.

0.77777 BTC or 30 LTC bounty, your choice.

I would like you to bag me a vanity user ID number on https://just-dice.com/ visit site, then click OK.

The one that I would like is 77777 - to see your user ID number go to Account & once you land it then PM me the link to it.

"You can log into the same account from a different computer or browser using this link.
Protect this secret link as it can be used to access your account balance."

Or set up a user name* & password for it & send me that, then confirm here if you like & your deposit address, but just the PM is fine.

*Edit: If you do this then please to use 77777 as the user name, many thanks. Mostly I would just prefer it if you sent me the link.

When stalking it be aware that the site will ban your IP for 1 hour if you do too many log outs = (auto log in's in order to get a new account number), atm I think any actions repeated in less than 2 seconds trigger this or too many of the same actions to quickly, but it's dynamic & may get adjusted so take that in to account or check out how it's set att.

Using different browsers may help, but please don't make anything you do a problem for the site.

Right now the site is on ID 77445 if there's interest in this freebie then it will soon get there, especially in the last moments, so check that out obviously.

Once I've successfully taken control of the user account then I'll send you the bounty, I have a lot of positive feedback re donations & free prize competitions, if I get the number then you'll get the bounty within 24 hours np. If you don't yet have PM privileges then just wait until you get those with a few posts on this forum & time logged in, or post in this thread & ask me to PM you.

Good luck!
8  Other / Beginners & Help / FREE competition PRIZE 0.55555 BTC or 20 LTC on: July 25, 2013, 11:11:15 AM

Using different browsers may help, but please don't make anything you do a problem for the site.

Right now the site is on ID 52180 & between 65 to 100 new IDs approx are being made per hour, maybe faster in US daytime, if there's interest in this freebie then it will go much faster, especially in the last moments, so check that out obviously.

Edit: He also kept the 8 btc + that ppl bid on April's BitLotto & is moving these coins.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / When will Litecoin reach 0.1 Billion USD total value on: March 24, 2013, 02:58:45 PM
I'd like to offer a competition similar to my previous Bitcoin one, but for Litecoins this time, firstly for when the value of a single litecoin will be equal to 1 gram of silver, with a present silver price of $28.64 per Troy Ounce with 32.15075 ounces to 1 Kg, that gives a price of $0.9208 per gram atm for silver against the present LTC price of approx $0.56 each. Note Bitcoin overtook the 1 Gm gold price this week for the first time, see recent posts in the other competition thread.

Secondly for when the Litecoin market cap (number of units issued times price) will equal at least 0.1 billion dollars = $100,000,000
the present market cap is around 11 million USD I believe.

There is a prize of 100 LTC for each competition with a doubling of the prizes for anyone who guesses both correctly for a total of 400 LTC.

Please express date as YYYY MM DD or as 29th Feb 2012 say, thread will be locked on the 1st May 2013 - please don't edit your dates except for typos/clarity or to add a date for either one of the competitions that you haven't yet chosen for but please also make a new post for this so that I see it, my rules & common sense, i.e. if someone puts the same date as one already chosen the first person wins it & ambiguous dates will be void, one entry per pre-existing forum ID & sock puppet accounts will be void if spotted.

Edit: Closest guesses win obviously, dates are by GMT/UTC time & an additional competition for a flat 100 LTC prize, if he does so then when will Mike Caldwell/Casascius first put physical litecoins on sale to the public.

Edit 2: If anyone who would like to add to these prizes then please to let me know.

Edit 3: Price to be taken as on the main/largest exchange at the time, ie atm it's BTC-E.

Edit 4: 2013 03 31 With the silver price making a low of $28.22 per Oz = $0.87774 per gram last Thursday & Litecoin making a high of $0.8247 yesterday we are getting very close, so a small rules change, once the price of litecoins goes over $0.85 or if silver falls below $27.50 per Oz = $0.85535 approx per gram then entries on the 1 LTC = 1 gm Ag part of the competition are closed.

See post #7 for a summary of entries to date, which updates every so often, but quite often, at least daily usually atm.

(Note to self - in future reserve post #2 for this)

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Litecoin's Astro chart on: March 01, 2013, 03:49:21 PM
Hi, I would like to do for Litecoin the same as I did for Bitcoin here, I realize that astrology is an anathema to some so please skip this thread if you disapprove of mystic mumbo jumbo - as the original thread shows though it is of sufficient interest to some to warrant a look at from this perspective if only out of curiosity.

There's a unusually large number of trines (10) & conjunctions (11) which is very auspicious & other things like not a single opposition that make this a rather interesting chart, a preponderance of Air & Cardinal signs - Air being good for technology & innovation - Cardinal for energetic start-ups. For more on these & other aspects see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrological_aspect

Thinking of Litecoin as a complementary partner to Bitcoin, say as the Moon to Bitcoin as Sun, we see that LTC has a very positive Moon itself & it's in the progressive forward thinking sign of Aquarius. Litecoin is a Libra Sun sign - good for partnership & balance/fairness & Mercury plus Saturn there emphasize this with communication & practicality. Venus is in Scorpio which make's LTC intense & confident which ppl will find attractive & sexy. Mars is in Leo - plenty of power & ambition there with a strong sense of authority & personal magnetism. Jupiter in Taurus gives good luck & bodes well for abundance & financial security, it attracts wealth & success.

I'll add more interpretations later, with edits to add to this OP.

14  Economy / Service Discussion / Are Mt. Gox & other exchanges going to be considered FFIs & if so what effect? on: August 29, 2012, 12:20:51 PM
Reporting by Foreign Financial Institutions

FATCA will also require foreign financial institutions (“FFIs”) to report directly to the IRS certain information about financial accounts held by U.S. taxpayers, or by foreign entities in which U.S. taxpayers hold a substantial ownership interest. To properly comply with these new reporting requirements, an FFI will have to enter into a special agreement with the IRS by June 30, 2013. Under this agreement a “participating” FFI will be obligated to:

(1) undertake certain identification and due diligence procedures with respect to its account holders;

(2) report annually to the IRS on its account holders who are U.S. persons or foreign entities with substantial U.S. ownership; and

(3) withhold and pay over to the IRS 30-percent of any payments of U.S. source income, as well as gross proceeds from the sale of securities that generate U.S. source income, made to (a) non-participating FFIs, (b) individual account holders failing to provide sufficient information to determine whether or not they are a U.S. person, or (c) foreign entity account holders failing to provide sufficient information about the identity of its substantial U.S. owners.

Or in reality will this latest BS just apply to banks, insurers & funds, etc

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Map - Forum members & bitcoin business locations on: July 12, 2012, 04:24:52 PM
I've made a Wiki map for any forum members who'd like to post their location, (exact or approx) &/or bitcoin related businesses - places that take them for instance. Also to log the coin's journey in the Circle of Trust [Game/experiment] if ppl like.

http://bitcoin.zeemaps.com

I just added a simple marker with:

Additions: Add Marker - Simple

Entry Name: Forum ID
Location: My nearest city, though where I live is visible on the default 6 mile radius map
Description: My sig's bitcoin address
Photo: Avatar pic.

But feel free to add a marker however you like, lots of marker colour options etc, choose spring if you want the bitcoin icon (now the default), markers can be edited by clicking on the name of your marker in it's label, have fun  Wink

If you'd like to suggest some colour codes or custom icons for say: personal, business - services offered, prepared to make local cash/coin exchanges, places that accept bitcoins, etc & if a consensus agrees then I'll update the OP to request that ppl go by that configuration.
17  Other / Off-topic / Bitcoin - fitter than your old fiat dinosaurs on: May 16, 2012, 01:23:44 PM
Charles Darwin said the "survival of the fittest" is a central factor in the process of evolution. What exactly did he mean by that? He makes it clear in his book The Origin of Species: "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change."
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin tx free messaging service 888 on: May 08, 2012, 02:28:06 PM
Bitcoin free messaging service 0.00888000

Here's a way to send a message along with your Bitcoin tx, just send any regular amount down to 2 decimal places only, then include the code x.xx888 BTC followed by the number of your post here in 3 digit format on this thread where you have left your message , eg for the case of this post being the message then the amount to send would be x.xx888001 BTC - if/once 1,000 posts are made then it reverts to 001 again, just ignore any 1,000s & use the latest posts to see or place messages, the extra added (or minimum that can be used for this) is about 4.4 cents worth of Satoshis (Edit: to prevent spam txs)

I don't know if there would be any demand for this at all as usually one is in contact with who one sends a tx to, but in some cases one may wish to try & communicate with someone where their contact details are unknown, say the Linode haxers 128u4nNS2DCbPk61aNAXLUTsHZt5FAEtit (the robber's first bag of swag address) or perhaps Satoshi himself 1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa (his creation block address, the first tx). Messages can be anything you can post here & are obviously public unless you've previously exchanged a crypto key with the recipient, this could also be done after on a certain date etc by another tx message though that would be public too

I don't suppose there would be too much demand for this, but if there is then I'll set up a web site to do it independently of the forum if wished, and replies here that are not messages are just skipped so people would use the next available post number for their tx message so best to claim one's post number first, compose the message & then send the tx with it in

If this thread would be better off moved to another section of the forum then please do

I signed up for Google's checkout service (merchant's cart) when it started on the off chance that it might be useful some day but have never had occasion to use it & certainly won't now, it looks even more useless than PayPal, today I received this update from them:

Google checkout
Hello Otoh,

Thank you for using Google Checkout to process your orders. We're pleased to inform you that we've transitioned your account from the new merchant payout schedule to the standard payout schedule.

Your payouts will now be initiated two business days after you successfully charge an order. Please keep in mind that your bank may take up to three additional business days to register the payout in your account. Additionally, Google doesn't initiate payouts on weekends or banking holidays. For example, if you charge an order on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, your payout will be initiated on Monday. If Monday is a banking holiday, your payout will be initiated on Tuesday.

To learn more about Google Checkout's payout schedule, please visit our merchant help center.
