Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Meze Grill not actually an exchange
|
on: August 23, 2011, 02:09:37 AM
|
I just left the Meze Grill in NYC after finding out that they knew nothing of Bruce's post( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=32162.0) claiming that they are now a bitcoin/usd exchange. the employee i spoke with told me that all they do is sell food for bitcoins and sell bitcoins for usd, they wont buy bitcoins for usd. So Bruce, if you could go ahead and fix your post that would be great and would save other people from wasting an afternoon of their lives. thanks!

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / "I hacked mt gox and all I got was this security awareness"
|

That quote could very likely be said by the actual hacker. Look at what has come of all this, a few different individuals have withdrawn petty amounts of coins(Kevins 650ish, and whoever else got to cash out a small sum), and security in exchanges is now at the forefront of everyones minds. If it had been a malicious hacker then he would have taken a lot more money in coins.
Kevin - Sorry, but you joined the early stages of a new project and you just gotta take one for the team, I know this was not your fault. Keep your coins and be happy.
Gox - Quit accusing people, you didn't realize how important security was and you helped us all learn a valuable lesson. I appreciate all you do for the community.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / "Hey Idiot! I disagree with your bitcoin views, so you should agree with mine."
|
on: June 20, 2011, 11:43:57 PM

If someone posts something about Bitcoin, and you feel you have a valid counter point that nullifies what they have said, and you would like them to be able to see where it is you are coming from, then insulting them is not going to help. If you start off with a common ground, slowly lead away from there using what you view to be sound logic and ultimately arrive at you view, then you stand a much better chance of having them be able to understand your view. As soon as most people feel they have been insulted they switch to attack mode and healthy dialogue goes right out the window.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A couple types of trolls
|
on: June 12, 2011, 12:00:09 AM
|
There are lots of kinds of trolls, i wont pretend to know them all. They dont all care about price, but most do. Those who dont are just attention whores and go around trying to get a rise out of people. The main kind is the ones who do want to drive price down, and try to make bitcoin old news.
Picture this, guy(pre-troll internet user) sees pretty girl(bitcoin), unfortunetly the guy cant work up the guts to ask her out. When someone else does, and they are in a relationship, guy is jealous and begins calling the young lady abunch of names and lies in an attempt to lessen her attractiveness.
The main attack a troll makes is not ruining reputation, it is silencing discourse by interupting thoughtful discussion.
