Please PM if you think you can implement a new algorithm

I've been following this thing for a few months and figure with a bit of work and some marketing, there are several thousand dollars to be made developing a coin.  I have a Bachelor's degree in CS and have some ideas for unique coins, but would probably need some help.  Anybody want to make TRILLIONS of DALLARS? 

Will alt coins ever have value on their own, or will their value always rise and fall with bitcoin?
