1  Economy / Trading Discussion / What the hell is going on at MtGox? on: June 27, 2011, 09:34:43 AM
I sold my bitcoins at MtGox yesterday and was looking forward to withdraw the money, but to my big surprise I had a negative account balance?! My account history showed that some of my trades were hit by fees of almost 200 % instead of the promised 0,3 %!!! I had already sent them three requests to fix it, but they just ignore them. What the hell are these guys doing ?!?!?!?!!!
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Ridiculous fees at MtGox - anybody else has this problem? on: June 26, 2011, 08:12:42 PM
I recently sold bitcoin at MtGox and I was surprised that at the end I had a negative amount of dollars in my account. So I looked at my account history and to my surprise the fees for some of my trades were ridiculous, somewhere between 10 to almost 200 per cent. I know it is a technical problem that will get fixed, but seriously MtGox is a joke. Anybody else has this problem?
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Is anyone buying bitcoins at MtGox right now? on: June 26, 2011, 07:22:49 PM
Is anyone buying bitcoins at MtGox right now?
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Anybody knows when trading on MtGox will begin? on: June 26, 2011, 06:38:02 PM
Anybody knows when trading on MtGox will begin?
5  Economy / Economics / When will it be possible to trade on MtGox again? on: June 21, 2011, 06:51:10 AM
The only info from MtGox is that "Once it is deemed enough users had the chance to get their account back, the exchange will be open again (opening time will be announced at least 24 hours in advance". What does that mean, one day or one week?
6  Economy / Economics / Will there be a spike in price by the end of the week? on: June 13, 2011, 06:32:39 PM
I suppose that some people who read today's articles in the mainstream media will wire their money to MtGox today and tommorrow, and buy bitcoins by the end of the week.
7  Economy / Economics / At which price will you sell your bitcoins? on: June 12, 2011, 05:46:45 PM

 Ach da kommt noch was...

9  Economy / Economics / Have any major sites announced that they will accept bitcoin? on: June 11, 2011, 04:04:03 PM
For example gambling sites. Will all the silk road clones that are just springing up accept bitcoin and turn it into a viable currency? Will the drug trade be the driver behind bitcoin's success? (I would have no problem with that.)
10  Economy / Economics / How high can bitcoin go in the next 2 years? on: June 11, 2011, 11:10:30 AM
How high can bitcoin go in the next 2 years?
11  Economy / Economics / What will happen if the bitcoin economy goes to 500.000.000? on: June 10, 2011, 04:45:37 PM
My guess is that if this happened, bitcoin would be all over the mainstream media, because then everybody would have to take it seriously. With 6M bitcoins you would need a price of 83, and with 7M you would need a price of 71,5 to create a 500M economy.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What could be a Netscape-IPO-moment for bitcoin? on: June 10, 2011, 01:49:34 PM
The steep appreciation of Netscape stock after its IPO 1995 started the dotcom bubble. What could be a similar event for bitcoin?
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Who else thinks it's a good thing bitcoin is used to buy illegal drugs? on: June 10, 2011, 09:50:30 AM
I think bitcoin advocates should stop defending it against allegations it can be used to buy illegal drugs. There's nothing wrong about buying drugs with bitcoin. I wouldn't recommend taking illegal drugs, but it's not the government's business to tell us what we can consume. People die all the time from abusing legal drugs (Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, Derek Boogaard) and nobody proposes to ban them. If the idea behind bitcoin is to liberate people from the government's monopoly on legal tender, we should also celebrate the liberation from harmful government regulation.

full disclosure: I don't drink any alcohol, I don't smoke, and I have never consumed any illegal drug.
14  Economy / Marketplace / Is it true that you can't withdraw more than $1000 per day from MtGox? on: June 09, 2011, 07:15:37 PM
Is it true?
15  Economy / Economics / When will bitcoin go to 400? on: June 09, 2011, 02:43:20 PM
It would be just a 13fold increase from the previous level, but it seems quite unlikely to me.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will we see much more mainstream media coverage of bitcoin in the next months? on: June 09, 2011, 01:35:11 PM

It seems to me that we are on the brink of bitcoin becoming widely known to the mainstream public. If bitcoin was the internet, it was in the 1970s a year ago, and it's 1993 now. Next months could be 1995-1997.
17  Economy / Marketplace / Can bitcoin go to 400? on: June 09, 2011, 01:22:46 PM
That's the price I need to sell at to have "FU money". Theoretically it's just a 13fold increase from here, which sounds highly probable based on past performance. However, I wonder what will happen once it goes over 100. Will the mainstream media start to write about it massively and cause a spike to 500-1000? Or will people consider it to crazy to pay 100 dollars for some unproven virtual currency and price appreciation will stop?
