4  Bitcoin / Mining / CALM DOWN THE FUD on: January 09, 2014, 10:40:36 PM
FIRST  IM A NEWB  BE GENTLE
I don't wanna known how my "ROI will never be realized"
or "how much of a waste of time mining is"
Id like to hear, positive things  mining is the backbone of this community  speculation will only take us down a hole. Mining is what drives the price. With Mining "work" has been done allowing for people to expect to be "paid" this is, Imo , what gives bitcoin its traction with all the none hardcore nerds. This is where, Imo, btc gets its value.
Now. Id like to pose this question(s)
1 Im curious, as i do not exactly understand the difficulty, how well, 3-60/gh BFL Miners will preform?
2 Will i produce any BTC? i understand, its all risk, but do these machines currently have the capability to produce anything? NO FUD PLEASE
3 Is there some where that can calculate, how many BTC i could prospectively capture?

I live in Canada, i will be placing them in an unheated garage, creating heat for the garage and hopefully helping keep them cool
No i will not tell you the price I'm going to pay, as i know there is no $# to make the masses happy
Thanks in Advance!

Why, is it, that the MT Gox price is so much higher than everyone else?
Im Canadian, so i watch virtex currently its at 865$/BTC
Gox is showing 977$/BTC also in Canadian dollars
Any one know why?
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Hello All on: January 04, 2014, 07:50:55 PM
Hello all, I have been reading on here for quite some time now. Only decided to take a run at it a few days ago.
My question is this:
I would like to know how the community feels, one could explain bitcoin in laymen terms. I argued with my (70 yrs old) grandfather for the better part of christmas dinner, as to whether or not BTC is a ponzi. He, being old, and only mildly tech savy belives it is. Using words like block chain, public ledger, change the world, crypto-currency, only seemed to make him more confused.

How is bitcoin going to get to mainstream?
And more importantly, how are we, as a community, going to explain it to the masses?
(i dont mean here read a forum newb, i mean person to person)
Also, just for fun, I like to think of BTC as 100$ bills, and LTC as change ( im a canuck, so ltc is loonies and toonies) any thoughts?
Many thanks. Hope to get off of newbies so i can speculate with the rest of ya!
