Thanks to the use of these mother boards, you do not need to connect keyboards, mice, monitors or monitor emulators at any stage anymore. Everything can be done remotely from any computer. Starting from the BIOS setup and OS installation and ending with the management of already working rigs.
Benefits of using such motherboards are:
- Remote access to the rigs via IPMI KVM (Windows, Android, Web (Java Applet)) which allows:
- to remotely watch and manage the system, starting from the POST program. For those who do not know, it’s like a TeamViewer, but without the software installed in the OS on the monitored system. The benefit is that you can manage the remote machine since it was turned on (for example, get into the BIOS and change the disk from which the OS boot will take place);
- to remotely install/re-install the OS (via Virtual Drive);
- to remotely control the power of the rig (Power Off, Power On, Power Cycle, Hard Reset). Please note that power management is not at the operating system level, but at the IPMI level. For example, you can reload a hung rig (If the WatchDog was not in time to do it). Alternatively, you can turn the power on on the previously turned off rig.
- Built-in hardware WatchDog;
- High quality mb implementation based on solid-state capacitors
- Relatively low price for the kit if compared with the classic approach of using Celeron g3900 or g3930
The general idea behind the use of such motherboards is the possibility of the overall remote management over the rigs, with the possible exception of physical access.
The solution was tested and well proven in production.
Ideal for HiveOS, SimpleMiningOS or own Linux distros. However, everything works well with Windows.
