1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Any historical discussions of c-cex staking coins? on: August 09, 2016, 03:24:44 PM
I'm wondering about earlier discussions/threads regarding C-Cex staking coins.

IGotSpots is making an issue of it with Cube, but i recall months ago some discussion on it (with no luck in finding such).
With a quick perusal of my deposit history addresses I can see they've been staking at least since December last year.

Can anyone point to such earlier discussions of C-Cex staking?

2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / zap orphans on: April 30, 2016, 05:06:20 AM
it would be nice to be able to zap only mining/staking orphans
ie deliberate targeting of only these types.

possibly overkill when zapwallettxes should do the job, with only the apparent minor chance of double spend issues if you're not careful.

talking about shitcoins really. lol would be nice to be able to get an orphan btc block Cheesy
3  Other / Politics & Society / vaccines and corporatocracy on: March 29, 2016, 01:06:28 AM
What do people think is the relationship between the vaccine debate and seeming corruption rife in the US via corporate lobbying vs democracy,

given that the US has probably the most aggressive vaccine schedule in the world, and seemingly the most aggressive corporate self marketing lobbyists.

Is it likely that the vaccine debate is shaped by corporate desires?

.
for some sense of Pharmaceutical lobbying, there's some apparent facts and figures regarding US subsidization of medicare prescription drugs (and lobbying by PHARMA) very early in this episode. starting 1 minute or so in.

The other criticism of this medicare part D, prescription drug benefits, that was passed by the lobbyists, here's the tawdry reality of it.
Former Congressman Billy Townsend, who was a Republican from Louisiana, who steered the bill through the house retired soon after passing this bill and took a 2 million dollar a year job as a lobbyist at PHARMA (which is Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, the main industry lobbying group).

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / MicroCash. Now in Alpha 2 release. discussion on: February 29, 2016, 01:50:51 PM
microcash

Nearly 5 years in the making, MicroCash seems nearly ready to hit the light of day with it's recent Alpha release 2.
The main developer Real Solid has finally come out of his closet with juices flowing.

Microcash fits into the general mold of P2P de-centralized currency using cryptographically secure free and open network with zero-trust accounting,
Apart form it's obvious ability to destroy modern banking and money processing methods, it also has numerous sparkling features which make it valuable and some which set it strongly apart from other coins featuring generic BTC code base.

- Instant transactions that are 100% irreversible. No need to trust a miner (proof of work) or rich person (proof of stake) to not reverse your transactions. No need to wait, at all.
- An account system that mimics existing banking accounts, making it easy to progress from existing financial system to MicroCash. Store extra data there to help with your business or set yourself apart from the world. Give it a name so people can send payments to your name rather than a crypto address.
- Extremely efficient. Can already scale past Visa, Mastercard and PayPal transaction levels COMBINED on a normal PC. Current figures suggest "over 15,000 transactions per second on a generic i7" using UDP to minimize bandwidth and latency.
- 100% entirely new C++11 source code. Designed to be easy to understand and work on. Not derived from Bitcoin or any other crypto project. 100% free (MIT license).
- 100% independent from external libraries to ensure integrity and efficiency
- All financial rules are 100% decentralized over the P2P network, every single node has to verify every single transaction for it to count. Nothing can slip by, ever. Outside of world changing cryptography breaks - MicroCash is able to be verified to be 100% secure in regards to the MicroCash financial "state" where all the money is stored.
- Sidechain support from the start. You can add your PoW, PoS, first-comes, cryptokey, or whatever system to MicroCash easily. You don't even need to do it in C++, just hook into the node via the extremely fast API.
- HTTP server built in to the node so it can serve a wallet directly to any web browser. Access your wallet from anywhere in the world at any time, to send money instantly. No more waiting.
- Easy API access to develop businesses around. Because it is 100% secure and instant it will be extremely easy to slot into any existing payment system. No need to wait for confirms or worry about anything at all. If money comes in, then you have the money until you want to spend it, it is as simple as that. No one can take it away from you.
- Multiple P2P nodes in the same binary. Control them from the web interface. Start, stop them or change their settings. See the nodes they are connected to. All in real time. No more cryptic command line routines to remember.
- Built in account and transaction explorer. No need for external 3rd party services to see what should be standard information in a financial network. The state of the system. Look at any account you want, look at any transaction you want. But unless you own that account there is nothing you can do to it! Well, besides send money to it of course!
                    -see  https://forums.microcash.org/threads/microcash-overview.10/

Microcash has a long history of development and community springing from it's SolidCoin roots, but it is still grappling with various decisions. It is one thing to code a working system, another to actually fill in the variables.
Users and Developers of all levels are encouraged to come and participate in it's growth. Testing and Community involvement are required to fulfill it's life into a breathing network.

Microcash distribution nor network maintenance will not involve PoW. It will be generated then distributed. The current proposed model for distribution involves two main methods
1. Buying it, by sending BTC to a fixed address and funds will be distributed accordingly upon completion
2. Community participation, you participation in the forums or other approved methods will be rewarded (hint, when you sign up tell them pineapples sent you Wink
                  - see https://forums.microcash.org/threads/how-to-get-microcash-initial-economic-seeding.27/

It is important for any currency to have a great distribution model, Microcash is no exception. Distribution is open to everyone who wants to participate.

---
SolidCoin was a very early BitCoin variant designed by RealSolid and released late 2011. It could be considered an early variant of Microcash. SolidCoin is worth mentioning at this point that there has been earlier discussion about converting into Microcash, but that is no longer being considered (for more info on this see above link on economic seeding).
For a longer history of SolidCoin some further good reading is at https://forums.microcash.org/threads/solidcoin-was-first-to-do-proof-of-stake.33/

i have no problem with premines if used well.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / building bitcoin qt OSX on: November 10, 2015, 12:34:48 PM

i 've been building various wallets using .pro files and qtcreator.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / return change to send address for coind on: November 02, 2015, 09:02:25 AM

i would like to return change to the source input address in a coind.
the point being easy tracking of coins, and easy backing up.
it's for a faucet style use.

i assume the simplest thing is to change the src code, as i cannot find any other method other than creating raw tx every time.

can anyone help with the appropriate changes ??

Code:
                    // no coin control: send change to newly generated address
                    else
                    {
                        // Note: We use a new key here to keep it from being obvious which side is the change.
                        //  The drawback is that by not reusing a previous key, the change may be lost if a
                        //  backup is restored, if the backup doesn't have the new private key for the change.
                        //  If we reused the old key, it would be possible to add code to look for and
                        //  rediscover unknown transactions that were written with keys of ours to recover
                        //  post-backup change.

                        // Reserve a new key pair from key pool
                        CPubKey vchPubKey = reservekey.GetReservedKey();

                        scriptChange.SetDestination(vchPubKey.GetID());

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / what might be the most stable coin codes for different algo's ? on: May 08, 2015, 03:01:45 AM

running a bunch of daemons over time. i've found that different coins have varying stability in their daemons.
so i'm wondering about the simplest and stablest examples of different algorhithm coin codes.

it would be handy to know for example which is the best scrypt POW/POS so one could modify the code as necessary to support any coin of that type.

++
example of annoying code.

Banksycoin for example has a couple of really annoying quirks,
such as the ever expanding debug.log which finds itself at multiple gigabytes without much fuss.
and it also seems to have a very extended startup time, with high load and unavailability to calls.

i've also found some coins tend to freeze and not update the chain more regularly than others.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / interesting take for a new coin. REDLINE . [REV] on: August 21, 2014, 05:52:53 AM
this is an interesting idea.
I AM NOT GOING TO MAKE THIS COIN.
the idea is purely for sharing..

REDLINE
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
a racing currency with variable block times..
the higher the hash the faster the blocks.

IDLING, as we sit on the starting line, until block 100 when the real PoW begins.
the flag drops and we hit
FIRST gear, as hash and difficulty rise we shift through the gears until we hit
FOURTH gear, and push up into the
REDLINE

//
this is racing PoW style. block times our engine speed, and difficulty our total speed.

 with block times changing from 10 minutes to 20 seconds depending on mining difficulty.
as mining increases we get faster and faster until we hit redline,a gear shift and we go up a gear,
the blocks get slower and then increase again with increased difficulty/hashrate.

PoW period will end at block 18,000
when will it end ? 1 week ? 5 days ? 4 days ?

PoS will have it's own racing style. The more coins staked the larger the rewards and the shorter the block time.
rewards varying from 1% coins to 5% coins per block.

//
at first as we idle at the starting line, blocks are relaxed at 10 minutes.
PoW gives low returns and difficulty increases and does little to influence times ..

then as we hit block 100, the race is on.

PROPOSED DIFFICULTY VS BLOCK TIMES
Proof of Work

IDLING ->    block 100      10 minutes

GEARS
FIRST       0 - 2 GHS,    10 minutes - 2 minutes
2ND         2- 30 ghs,    8 minutes - 1 minutes
3RD         30 -60 ghs   8 minutes - 1 minutes
4TH         60 - 120ghs   8 minutes - 30 seconds
REDLINE      120 ghs ->   30 seconds - 20 seconds

Proof of Stake

DISCLAIMER : i know very little about network weighting so am unwilling to offer any figures here other than proposed block times.
as network weight increases, block time decreases.

90 - 45 seconds.

//
.. V1.2 .. NOTES ..

might be good to increase overall mining time by incorporating such as a "hill climb" after "the sprint"

all values as displayed are used for demonstration purposes, these figures have been generated spontaneously and may benefit from further consideration.

further research may be useful to decide on targeted hash rates for gear shifts. also whether a 5th gear may be useful.
ALSO whether set difficulties vs sliding difficulty ratio against block time would be better.
i.e. diff a= blocktime 60sec
diff b = blocktime 40sec
OR
an algorithmic response to changing difficulty

weighting of Coins Staked will be strongly effected by coins held on exchange.

further idea maybe to adapt tx fees against volume of transactions (block size), plausibly setting a global minimum with  additions depending on last 5 avg block size.
this may result in problems for transactions that are delayed or manual that have mismatching fee value.

-
included images here are google search.
anime influence would be good for all artwork style.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / can you see which account a tx attempts to draw from for unconfirmed tx? on: May 16, 2014, 03:33:47 AM
specifically in the case of a zero confirmation transaction.
is it possible to see where it is attempting to draw funds from ?

we're playing with a payout system (for a litecoin clone), that keeps generating zero confirms.
we're processing bunches at a time, and generally consecutive payments come from the change of the previous transaction.

so I'm wondering if it has to do with the wallet getting it's orders slightly out of order,
and effectively attempting to double spend OR drawing from a non existent balance.

being able to see where it's attempting to draw funds from may help.

---
brings to mind another related question.

can you specify which address the change goes to ?

thanks Smiley
