1.) Are you a trader, speculator, or into the technology (actual engineer working on Distributed Ledger Technology a.k.a. Blockchain)?

2.) How do you choose what projects you like to get involved in and when do you like to enter the market?

3.) What's your top pick for 2018 and give a brief description of why?

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bounty Share vs. Fixed Bounty Payout on: June 22, 2018, 04:59:11 PM
Many of you might have noticed some bounty programs payout by shares (the more people involved, the less tokens you get). Others payout a fixed amount.  Example complete (a) and receive 100 tokens.

I personally think bounty shares are a scam that no one can calculate without having access to participant data (which is never provided).

Fixed amount bounties are much more traditional and in the bounty hunter tradition.  You get what your promised.

What are your thoughts and which do you recommend?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Referrals, Bounties, & Giveaways ... What interests you? on: June 22, 2018, 04:44:13 PM

An example is  krypto-kitties.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / EOS DPoS Gives Control of their Network to the Few on: June 22, 2018, 01:50:27 AM
"No One Should Have That Power" - EOS Users Furious After Block-Producers Freeze Funds

After the public learned of the account freezings, crypto enthusiast Nick Szabo referred to the EOS constitution as “socially unscalable and a security hole:”

In EOS a few complete strangers can freeze what users thought was their money. Under the EOS protocol you must trust a "constitutional" organization comprised of people you will likely never get to know. The EOS "constitution" is socially unscalable and a security hole. https://t.co/WusEqBMGBp
— Nick Szabo⚡️ (@NickSzabo4) June 19, 2018

The fact that a decision could be made by a small number of players on a conference call has led to several crypto influencers on Twitter bringing up questions about EOS’s decentralized format.

13  Other / Off-topic / Do you think online privacy is dead? on: May 11, 2018, 11:07:59 PM
I saw this article early today:

The trade-off for Google's (and other FREE sites) services is your privacy and data.

https://www.wired.com/story/the-price-of-googles-new-conveniences-your-data/

I think this artist captures Google's CEO pretty well:

https://i1.wp.com/streetiam.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Sabo-Google-640x480.jpeg?fit=640%2C480

Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) can start to bring back privacy protecting users digital identity and crypto-graphic assets.  For those that do not know, Blockchain is a DLT.

These new cryptographic technologies have a real opportunity with all of the recent exposure of the amount of data Twitter, Facebook, and Google track and sell. An invasion of privacy is an understatement.

ICO's for good tech (not scams) can help start-ups focus on what I think the next booming part of the crypto-market will be and that is privacy.  Look for projects focused on balancing this privacy issue and reversing the forward trend into 1984.

Maybe someone should explain to the guy 1984 was a warning, not a guide book.

Do you think online privacy is dead?

Probably a dumb question.  Tried a few searches.  Could not find any answers.

Please advise.

16  Other / Meta / Can Some Please Provide A List of Announcement Acronyms? on: May 10, 2018, 08:21:54 PM
Hello Everyone,

Glad to be a newbie and excited to contribute to the forum.  Some very interesting information.

I noticed on the ALT COINS Announcement thread members use certain acronyms in the subject line.

Ex:  [ANN] = Announcement

Is there a definitive list of accepted syntax or are members adding to the list of acronyms regularly?

Thanks for your help in advance.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will the Lightning Network Solve Bitcoin's Latency Issues on: May 09, 2018, 09:36:55 PM

Saw this article today regarding the Lightning Network development, which I have been following, and thought it was good read

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-lightning-payments-slowly-becoming-less-reckless/

"In short, lightning promises to bring bitcoin back to the days when it could be used to buy a pizza."

A lot of people are hoping this patch will be a silver bullet.  I'm not buying it.

What are your thoughts on the Lightning Network and BTC?  Do you think it will solve the latency problems of BTC (Blockchain in general)?
