Any chance we can clean out old handles that have "scammer" label ? My heart just jumps when I see it on an old discussion thread and it really, really LOOKS bad for the community as a whole if a newbie is looking to get into this and sees a huge SCAMMER label...specially if the handle looks dead.... Any plans of purging these old scammer handles out edit: minus Terrytibbs at least he's active lol

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What if Bitcoin could end Hunger or Proverty or both ?
|
on: January 14, 2012, 01:35:50 AM

Today, I was thinking about why bitcoin isn't talked about more and I came to the conclusion that we don't promote it as a good "cause" and we do not challenge big world problems.
Why don't we turn the "evil fee's of Mastercard, Visa and the plastic mafia cartel" against themselves for our own good and the worlds own good? Finally we get the attention of ordinary people who can't justify the incentive of switching from cash to bitcoin. How you ask? Turn all optional bitcoin fee's to point to a payment address to feed a poor family in Africa, or a charity of there choice or some cause they feel worthy.Credit card company's make billions off these fee's we can challenge the status quo and create a huge selling point for bitcoin to turn the ordinary person from a fiat spender to a bitcoin spender that is actually doing good.
I think our bitcoin dev. team has an obligation to do something to make this a reality in some form or fashion.
I mean my title grabbed your attention right? Just imagine if this a headline that was circulated around the world.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / AntiSec Breach - How Bitcoin Could have Helped
|
on: December 29, 2011, 08:40:24 PM
|
With AntiSec hacking into Stratfor's website and stealing credit card information and using the stolen cards to pledge to charities these charities now face $35 chargeback fee's:
"There’s real possibility of damage to smaller organizations if the Anonymous donations result in massive chargebacks for fraud. For instance, the Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group (AIDG) which works on access to electricity, sanitation, and clean water tweeted earlier today: “Stratfor Global has us worried. Pls don’t donate to AIDG with stolen credit cards, we get hit $35 per fraudulent transaction! #anonymous RT”"
Another case to solely go bitcoins only I do say. Thoughts?
