I would like to inform all users that malware has been posted on this site.

Only download from official sites, not links on forums.

The malware was also posted on,

https://bitcointa.lk/threads/ann-x11-cpu-32-bit-miner-darkcoin-32-bit-cpu-mining.317307/
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/11309-darkcoin-32-bit-miner-x11-32-bit-cpu-mining/

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE LINK AT MEGA THAT HAS THIS AT THE END.

The malware will install a trojan into system32 folder called systemd.exe.
It will also modify your registry to start this malware.

If anyone can alert the devs of this forum and ask them to forward details to local police as
thefts of crypto coin have already taken place.

READ THIS POST FROM A VICTIM.

I tried to post at bitcointa.lk but the FF plug in would not install.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoins still being released that are vulnerable to OpenSSL exploit Heartbleed. on: May 12, 2014, 02:44:48 PM
Q, I am starting some initial research into how many altcoins people are using that have
not been patched for the Heartbleed OpenSSL exploit.
What version of OpenSSL is your wallet client.
If it is between 1.0.1 to 1.0.1f you are vulnerable.

How can you tell?

With your wallet open, click Help an the top menu.
Then click Debug window.

You should now see some information, including the version of OpenSSL used, e.g.
OpenSSL 1.0.1g 7 Apr 2014.

These versions are not safe.

OpenSSL 1.0.1a
OpenSSL 1.0.1b
OpenSSL 1.0.1c
OpenSSL 1.0.1d
OpenSSL 1.0.1e
OpenSSL 1.0.1f

If you remain complacent,
any loss you experience from a hack will be whose fault?

Can we create a list of those that are in need of an update and are currently not as safe as they could be?

e.g.

SAFE:
BITCOIN
LITECOIN
DOGECOIN
BLACKCOIN

--------------------------

UNSAFE:
EMUCOIN
BUMBACOIN
POTCOIN

etc.

Altcoins are still being released that use the vulnerable OpenSSL versions 1.0.1 a to f.
3  Other / Meta / bitcointalk.org forum pages now failing to load completely on: March 16, 2014, 11:18:52 PM
Hi,

the pages on this forum are now NOT loading fully.

This is very apparent if you use the latest firefox.

Symptoms.

1. The whirlygig keeps going around and around where the favicon should be displayed on the page tab at the top.

2. In the bottom left corner of the screen it is constantly displaying "Transferring data from bitcointalk.org..."

In my experience, this is caused by a nasty image file.

The nasty image file may be made by "MS Paint", "Paintshop" or an Adobe software.

It could be the background or one of the images used for the coloured bars on the page.

Someone will have to pull the page apart to a very simple form, check that it loads fully, displaying the favicon and start adding the rest of the page until it fails.

When the culprit image is found What I have done to fix them is merely open it with something like irfanview and resave it to a new name, rename it to the original and upload it.

It may also be a missing div or something missing in the header.

But, my bet is currently on the damaged image file somewhere.
4  Other / Off-topic / A crypto song ? on: January 30, 2014, 05:54:09 PM
Hi all,

a silly thing happened yesterday,

I was humming something and I started thinking crypto.

How about this for an idea.

A crypto song that is predictive regards crypto currencies and the near future.

Who is good at making music?

Who is good at selling it?

Here are some lyrics to kick around.

Let's be rich. Don't forget the writer.......

Iv'e been workin' all my life,
just earnin' a small wage.

Just to see things through,
till I'm old in my age.

Iv'e been paying all my way,
then somethin' all new,
came up one day, on the TV news.

Along came cryptoooo,
Along came cryptoooo,

Electronic monee with a no bank fee,
was up for grabs, and it seems so free.

I want some cryptoooo,
I want some cryptoooo,

I've got a pile of cryptos and I am happy,
I will keep them for the future,
just wait and see.

I love my cryptoooo,
I love my cryptoooo,

You can have my money,
but you can't have my crypto,

You can have my money,
but you can't have my crypto,

You can have my money,
but you can't have my crypto,

you can't have my cryptoooo,
you can't have my cryptoooo,

We'll just have to wait and see,
what happens to the free,
electronic currency,
we mine happy and care free.

You can have my money,
but you can't have my crypto,
You can have my money,
but you can't have my crypto,
You can have my money,
but you can't have my cryptoooo,

you can't have my cryptoooo,
you can't have my cryptoooo,

In the the future you may see,
A thing never heard of,
A cryptos ID,
for you and me,

To keep an eye on all the monee,
you will see,
is a good thing in the long run if we want to be free.

Bad guys use it to make bombs and buy all sorts of weapons.

Gotta know where it's goin' then it just won't happen.

But your gonna pay again real soon,
Just a matter of when

The cryptos ID that we'll get
will come at a price,

Our old friend Mr. Taxman will again,
bite us thrice.

Your income, cash and cryptos,
will again have to splice,
a little for the taxman man,
cause you've always gotta pay.

No matter where your loot is kept or where you store your hay,

The cryptos taxman will really make it all a better day,
A system where currency is always known and in all ways

But can't I have just one cryptos more,
just one, another play,

Alright then,
hurry,
cause he's comin' and you know just what he'll say,

I'm the cryptos taxman and you,
you gotta pay,
and everybody on the Earth,

The crypto taxman,
he's gonna come and get you.

The crypto taxman,
he's gonna come and get you.

The crypto taxman,

he's gonna come and get yoooou.
