1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / SPAM TX with 79 recipients and 860 Sat to each blocking my funds on: September 12, 2023, 09:04:57 PM
I have a TX stuck, and seems the culprit is an INCOMING TX I got to my wallet.
I was not aware of this incoming TX and spent an output that depends on that mysterious input.
So my TX has 18vByte/Sat which is ok, but this weird 860 Sat TX has a large size and a fee of 6 Sat/ vByte and is unconfirmed.
I have no idea where this is from, but here it is:
https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transaction/95e315f00b48201655877d8d86817748fe32b1d7d339c5a334dac28328a4c939
so this TX has 79 receivers that all got 860 Sat and 6 Sat per Byte, and has been stuck for 3 days now.
Effectively blocking 79 addresses with expenditure of

0.00068022BTC (17.62USD) and Transaction fee 0.00018345BTC (4.75USD)
...
fun fact: I tried

https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

and the free service did not work bcs TX too large, and the paid service.....
came up with a price tag of ..... 0.09BTC !!!!! $2100 to accelerate this TX!

Can anyone make anything of this? Is this some kind of mapping attack with dust (like cpl years ago),
Or is it a sabotage attempt to block as many wallets as possible?
Anybody else finding themselves in this trap?
This appears rather sinister...

Because as a matter of fact, my TX as well as the rest of the funds in my wallet now seem to be effectively frozen...

if this is is not the right place for this, please direct me there - I looked around but did not see anything about it
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Central Bank Digital Currencies - how will they be constructed? on: November 18, 2020, 09:40:41 AM

With increasing mentions of CBDCs, maybe it is time to start looking at the actual technology and methods that CBs are looking at to implement them?

Is there already such a thread here on bitcointalk?

Are they looking to use some blockchain construct?

How will their networks be assembled?

What will the 'governance' and 'consensus' mechanisms work?  Roll Eyes

Aside from a lot of mentions of CBDCs in the finance media, none ever mention the actual implementation details  Grin

I would say that the 'Altcoin Discussion' section would be an appropriate place for that - please drop info/ opinions  Wink

4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Multiplicity of addresses in default account when using 'sendtoaddress' on: June 27, 2014, 04:31:13 PM

since the bitcoin call 'sendtoaddress' always debits the default account in the wallet (wiki), which one of the addresses that may be associated with the default account is debited?

It appears to me that if the default account (denominated by the empty string "") is associated with multiple addresses, then the 'sendtoaddress' call would have to choose one of these addresses.

Is this correct?

And if the amount to be sent would exceed the amount in any of the individual addresses associated with the default account, but be smaller than the sum of the amounts in the addresses in the default account, would this result in multiple transactions being sent from the multiple addresses in the default account?

And how would the addresses to be sent from be chosen?

I would be grateful for tips from BTC wallet experts, Thank You!

en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Accounts_explained#The_Default_Account

Account Names

Accounts are named with arbitrary strings; you may use any JSON string other than "*" (JSON strings are sent and returned as UTF-8 encoded Unicode).

Bitcoin creates two accounts automatically: it implicitly creates a default account with the empty string as its name, and it explicitly creates an account named Your Address when a new wallet is created.
The Default Account

The default account is named with the empty string ("" in JSON). Generated coins are always credited to the default account, and the sendtoaddress method always debits the default account.
Accounts and Receiving Addresses

Each account is associated with zero or more receiving addresses, and every receiving address is associated with exactly one account. Coins sent to a receiving address in the wallet are credited to the associated account.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Multiple Addresses in Default Account to connect Bitcoin to NXT on: June 27, 2014, 03:50:13 PM
I am currently building a Bridge Adaptor to emulate the Bitcoin Api and connect bitcoind-api calls to the NXT server.

Unfortunately, I am a bit confused by the 'accounts' features in the wallet.

The most pertinent question I have to solve is this:
