3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Newegg advertising "Bitcoin mining gear" on: January 15, 2014, 05:06:20 PM
Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but I noticed that newegg is advertising video cards as Bitcoin mining gear. Its under computer hardware/video cards, the first advertisement in their slide deck at the moment.

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mike mentions bitcoin as a world standard on: December 12, 2013, 10:02:12 PM

Bitcoin briefly mentioned as an alternative base money standard next to gold around 4:10.
5  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / odd power draw with 7950s. 2 cards is 460, 3 cards is 800 on: June 22, 2013, 09:58:15 PM
I'm wondering if anyone has noticed a similar effect when going from two to three 7950 cards. Running two 7950s (I've tried several models from saphire, MSI, powercolor) the total system draw is between 450 and 470 watts at the wall (this includes mobo and 55watt Intel CPU). Using the same MB/CPU and the same type of card for the third card bumps the power draw up to 790-815 watts at the wall. If we assume the power draw when running two cards in 225 watts per card, then adding the third should only put the total around 680-700. I've tried 3 different gold rated power supplies: 750w, 850w and 1000w, and its the same on each. My initial thought was that I was hitting the max of the 750w PSU and losing a lot of efficiency, but the 1000w PSU has essentially identical results.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this, or knows why this would happen

8  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] BFL ASIC very early pre-order #1674 4-5x Singles 60GH/s on: November 20, 2012, 09:37:02 PM
Selling 4-5 ASIC pre-orders in the acution section. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=126599.0
9  Economy / Auctions / [WTS] BFL ASIC very early pre-order #1674 4-5x Singles 60GH/s on: November 18, 2012, 10:31:36 PM
I've got pre-order number #1674 from The first 15 minutes of sales which is the 19th pre-order by order number(ASIC orders started at 1655), and the 2nd publicly known order of BFL ASIC singles based on this list: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=89685.0;topicseen. I'm selling these because of the GLBSE closing which is the cause of me closing down my mining project located here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=84192.0. At this time I have at least 4 and at most 5 singles pre-orders to sell out of the 8 that I ordered.

Bidding will start at USD $1300, please bid in US Dollars. Bidding will end when one of these 3 conditions are met:
  • December 2nd 2012 at 11:59:59 forum time based on timestamp of the bid posts
  • 5 bids of $3000 for each single have been reached
  • If the singles ship before Dec 2nd and I get shipping/tracking info (I will announce the bidding will end midnight the following day giving 24-36 hours notice)

If one person is the highest bidder for all 5 and BFL agrees to it, then I will split the order with them and have them shipped direct(I've already emailed BFL to see if this is possible). For an individual winner, the state of the FPGA Singles used for the upgrade can also be discussed and depends on BFLs decision on splitting the order. If there are multiple winners then I will cover Priority USPS shipping, or allow for further shipping arrangements to be made at the winners expense.

When the auction expires, then the top 4 or 5 bids depending on how many I have confirmed are for sale, will be noted and the forum member(s) who made the bid(s) will be contacted. Payment will be expected in bitcoins within 48 hours of winning the auction. Shipping will be within 24 hours of me receiving the ASICs from BFL if splitting the order can't happen.

Please bid in the following format:
Code:
Qty: 3, Bid USD$1500 ea.

Edit: just got word that BFL will not split an order to ship it multiple places, so I did a strike-through of that option in the original listing

I'm looking to sell 3x MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE/OC Radeon HD 6950 cards for $190 each plus shipping to USA only. I got these cards last May and they have run since then with a few months break while BTC prices were low last fall. They are in good condition and have not been clocked past the factory OC and the fans have run at 50% with external cooling keeping the cards below 65 degrees. I tried to unlock the shaders on one of them unsuccessfully then set it back to default bios and its been running normal since.

19  Economy / Speculation / MTGox buys bitomat.pl on: August 11, 2011, 11:14:23 AM
On the MTGox support/news page there is a statement that MTGox is buying bitomat.pl and restoring all the bitomat.pl users coins (assuming from MTGox profits/reserves).

How do you think this will affect the market? I can see a few things happening.

1) 17,000 coins are now back in the hands of people that lost them for a few weeks so there will be a quick dump from the people that just want to take their money before something else happens to it.

2) A somewhat isolated exchange will now add its traffic into the main exchange and prices will rise.

3) the numbers affected by bitomat.pl are small in comparison to the overall market, and will have no noticeable effect.

Is it just me, or is watching mtgoxlive.com this morning turning out to be more excitement than this summer's blockbuster films?  Grin
