1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / GPU insurance in UK? on: July 25, 2018, 05:21:50 PM
Who are the main insurance providers that people in the UK are going for to protect GPU's?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / BTG any good? on: July 14, 2018, 09:40:11 PM
I notice that the difficulty is really low for BTG, I've read that they recently got hacked. The price also looks to have just  been declining. Do you think that this coin has much potential to grow from where it is or do you think it will just fizzle out after the developers have milked it some more? From reading online most people don't seem to have much good to say about it. The relatively low difficulty and circulating supply is quite interesting though.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Increase hash rate on rx580? on: July 10, 2018, 01:48:07 PM
Hey,

Iv just built my first rig using 6 x Gigabyte Rx580 4GB GPU and I am just mining Ethereum on Claymore with Windows 10. When I first set it up I was only getting around 13 mh/s per card and then I installed the blockchain drivers and it went up to around 15. In my bat file I also added -dcri 30 and found that this increased it to around 22 m/s. I finally bios modded each card and I am now sitting at around 25 mh/s for each card.

What else can be done to increase the hash rate? From what I have seen online people seem to be getting around 30 mh/s.

Can you set to compute mode with the blockchain drivers? Does this have much effect. When I press y in claymore I get the error message: "Error: cannot set Compute Mode flag, run miner as Administrator and try again
CrossFire is already disabled". When I right click on the bat file and click run as administrator the command window just flashes open and then closes. Do you know why this is?

Is overclocking the only thing left to try?

My bat file contains the following:

setx GPU_FORCE_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool eu1.ethermine.org:4444 - ewal [eth address].RigName -epsw x -dcri 30 -allcoins 1 -allpools 1 -mode 1 -ftime 10 -r 1

Anything that can be changed or added here?

Many thanks, really appreciate your help Smiley
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Driver issues on: July 07, 2018, 12:56:09 PM
Hi, I am building a gpu rig and I am really struggling to get all the graphics card to be detected.

I am using the H110-D3A motherboard and have 6 x Gigabyte radeon rx580 GPU's. I am running windows 10 and the drivers I have are the AORUS graphics driver and utility. My monitor only has a VGA connector so I am connecting from the motherboard to the monitor. When I install the drivers I can detect the all the GPU's individually in the AORUS engine software, it even detects two at at time when I put one in the first and second slot. If I try and do more though the computer starts to run really rough and when I open up the AORUS engine software it doesn't let me click anything and the available options are different. I can't see all of the GPUs.

I have tried reinstalling everything (including windows) several times but I just get the same result.

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

I have tried putting one in at a time and rebooting in between but when I get past two it doesn't work.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / First rig construction issues on: June 30, 2018, 06:24:55 PM
Hey,

I am building my first rig and have a few issues.

1. To start I optimistically just plugged everything in to see what would happen. I bought second hand stuff off eBay. I have 6 Rx580 GPUs and I noticed that the fans on two of the GPUs don't start on boot. All the lights come on though. I have tried swapping the risers and power around etc but it is always the same two. Does this mean that they are most likely broken? Or could it just be some settings that the previous owner set?

2. I am getting no output to the monitor. I have tried several different monitors that I know to work. I have also tried reseating the ram and checking the cpu and fan. I then just stripped everything right back to bare essentials and got the same result. At this point I decided to remove the cmos battery.

3. Up until this point I was getting power but once I put the battery back in the PC doesn't power up at all. I have confirmed that the PSU is ok via the paperclip test. The power was switched off but the cable was still plugged in when I removed the battery. Could this cause damage? Any hope of fixing it?

Any thoughts, help or advice would be really appreciated.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Riser query on: June 19, 2018, 02:19:44 PM
Are these cheap risers actually safe to use with a 1000W PSU?

https://www.amazon.com/CHICPICK-Adapter-graphics-Extension-Connector/dp/B072JMPB58

I notice they just have SATA connectors, Iv read that is a no no. Anyone using these?

8  Economy / Exchanges / GDAX and Coinbase Pro same API? on: June 16, 2018, 06:27:18 PM
Hi, I notice that it says that GDAX is changing to Coinbase Pro. Will software developed using the GDAX API (personal bots etc) still work when this change happens?

Many thanks
9  Local / Mining (Deutsch) / Anyone in Deutschland selling a GPU miner? on: June 05, 2018, 11:19:27 PM
Hey, I'm in the market for a GPU rig located in Germany (preferably somewhere near baden-württemberg so that I can come see it running). My budget is 1800 Euro, for that id be looking for somewhere around a 6 card 580 rig. Any takers?

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Motherboard / first rig advice on: June 03, 2018, 11:13:00 PM
Hi,

I am writing for some advice/recommendations before I go ahead and start buying stuff. I am wanting to build a mining rig using 6 x AMD Radeon RX580 GPU using the PCI 1X to 16X risers and also have a separate AMD Radeon RX580 GPU plugged right into a 16X slot directly on the motherboard. I plan to use an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X CPU and 32Gb RAM. The reason for the beefy CPU, RAM and GPU on the motherboard is because I would also like to use this rig as a computer for gaming and running simulations etc, for space and neatness I would like one multipurpose machine rather than two specific machines.

1.Do you have any recommendations about what motherboard would be appropriate for this?

2. Would the Biostar TB350-BTC for AMD be a suitable choice?

3. Would one of those popular Veddha 6 open cases have enough room to be able to add the extra GPU to the motherboard?

4. Due to local availability I am thinking of going for a Corsair RM1000X 1000W Modular 80+ Gold PSU, from experience do you think that would be ok?

Much appreciated for your time, help and advice.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / using mining rig for gaming and simulation? on: May 27, 2018, 02:33:45 PM
Hi,

At the moment I do simulations on programs like Ansys and was looking to upgrade to a new PC to better cope. Ideally I would also like to use it for a bit of occasional gaming (quite like the game quake champions) . I am interested in building one of those open case gpu miners and wondered if I added a good CPU, SSD and high RAM I could use it for all three purposes (not necessarily at the same time) ? How limiting are those GPU risers?  Am I correct in thinking that is the main bottleneck?  If so, are there alternatives that would limit this restriction?

Thanks very much for your time and help.  Apologies, I have posted this in the wrong section, please feel free to move it appropriately.
