22  Economy / Gambling / StrikeSapphire: Today ONLY, 100% Poker Bonus! on: September 12, 2012, 05:14:13 PM
We're calling it a poker bonus, because your poker bets work fully to clear the wagering requirements. Plus we're giving away lots of freeroll cash and we want more players to take part in it! This is a 100% deposit bonus up to $50 in value. Come and help us build our poker tables! No other Bitcoin poker site is doing anything like this...only StrikeSapphire.com.

Your bonus code is: 88LCD8

This code expires at 00:00:00 14-September-2012!

And we're giving away up to $400 this month alone in NL Hold'em Freerolls - typically only a few players at each one, and they start every hour on the hour.

There's a 30x WR on deposit+bonus, with 100% value for all called poker bets in real-money games. Other games also qualify at 100% of bet value, except for Roulette, Craps, Blackjack and 5 Hand Video Poker (which each qualify at 20% of bet value). All wins are withdrawable immediately (if you choose to forfeit the withheld part). In other words, if you deposit $10 using the bonus code, you get a bankroll of $20. For every $0.30 you bet (that's called), $0.01 is released from your deposit+bonus. Everything you win over the initial $20 bankroll is yours to take, plus whatever part of the bankroll you've cleared, at any time.

The complete terms & conditions can be found at https://strikesapphire.com/tos.html#compsandbonuses.

See you at the tables!

25  Economy / Service Discussion / To Zhou Tong, from StrikeSapphire. on: August 03, 2012, 10:11:52 PM
Zhou: Remember when you personally told me that I would get my money back?

Since then I've tried to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I'm a developer and a business owner. I want to have sympathy for your plight, because I know how hard it is to run a startup that's responsible for other people's money. I do understand. As a casino owner though, I know that no one has sympathy for excuses from the bank, and my personal reputation lives and dies by my ability to pay my debts. Immediately. Not later. No matter how large.

Your reputation will live and die by your ability to pay your debts as well. Because you bear exact same responsibility as me.

I sympathize with your position, but I also think you've done something I would never do (whether I were 17 or 70 years old): You are responsible, directly or indirectly, for a situation where money was stolen from your customers, and you haven't paid them back. It's as simple as that. If I were in your place, I would be paying people out of my own pocket, taking out loans if necessary. It's the only honorable course of action. And no amount of money is worth losing your honor.

The only way you will ever be free of this shame is by honoring your debts. Now. Not later.

So, having read your email, you can have my full sympathy and support when you put my money back into one of my accounts. You owe me $981.18 - that's all I had in Bitcoinica USD when your site went offline. Feel free to open a StrikeSapphire account and send it in as a Bitcoin deposit. I don't care how it comes; when I see proof of your honesty in the form of my money being returned to me, you'll have my support.
26  Economy / Gambling / StrikeSapphire: 10% Cashback FREE. on: July 13, 2012, 10:12:25 PM
20 January, 2013: We have just launched an awesome new Automatic Cashback system, which now replaces the cashback bonuses described in this thread. This thread is locked and is no longer applicable.

Update 6 January, 2013: Please Read. We are discontinuing the 50% cashback bonus with WR. However we still offer a 10% no-strings-attached cashback. This cashback is only available one deposit at a time!

StrikeSapphire has a brand-new promotion for members of this forum.

If you hit a rough patch on our games and the cash in your account runs out, StrikeSapphire will refuel your balance for up to 50% of your last deposit.

You have two choices:

1) A bonus for 50% your last deposit, with our regular playthrough requirements, or

2) 10% direct cash back into your StrikeSapphire account, no strings attached.

It doesn't matter if you used a bonus code on your last deposit. This works independently of all other bonuses†. Best of all, you can claim it as many times as you want. If you meet the requirements below, just post your StrikeSapphire username and which kind of reward you want to collect in this thread. We'll check the forum daily by around 1pm GMT to fuel your balance!

Requirements to claim your Cashback *(applies to either style of Cash Back):
• Your last deposit was for at least 1 BTC.
• The deposit was made in the last week.
• You currently have less than $0.05 left in your account.
• You have not withdrawn (or started a pending withdrawal) since the deposit.
• No more than 30% of your last deposit was lost in poker.
• You are in good standing with the casino.

10% Direct Cash Back Terms:
• There are no terms. This is free cash.

50% Bonus Terms:
• Our regular 30x playthrough applies to the bonus. All bets count directly toward the playthrough except those on Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and 5-Hand VP, which count at 20%.
• Winnings you earn from this bonus, and the cleared portions of the bonus, can be withdrawn at any time. However, this will forfeit the uncleared portion of the bonus.
• Our complete bonus terms are available at https://strikesapphire.com/tos.htm

The rules and terms are subject to change. Any changes will be posted here, and will not affect deposits made prior to the rule change. †As the cashback is independent from all other bonuses, neither style of cashback will clear leftover WR on an account. Prior withholdings on the account still apply if a bonus was taken on the initial deposit and wasn't yet played through.

Also, don't forget our hourly $0.50 freerolls, round the clock. See you at the tables!

29  Economy / Gambling / StrikeSapphire - Another 10 BTC to the top winner this Weekend! on: March 22, 2012, 11:47:17 PM
5 BTC?
Make that 10 BTC EVERY WEEKEND to the top player on our leaderboard at https://strikesapphire.com/blog

It's not easy running a casino for crypto-anarchists, okay? It's like inviting the Mexican guys from the kitchen home for carnitas and beer after work at your apartment. They eat it, maybe they even like it, but they're like, "what do you know about cooking, boy?"

Nothing. I don't know shit about cooking, and almost less about cryptography. I got berated by a girl in 7th grade when I told her I was an anarchist. She was a smokin black chick from south central with an IQ of like 180, and it was right after the LA riots. I thought I was a little anarchist because I ran a WWIV website with a buncha warez. She basically tore my fucking knees out while explaining what anarchy looks like while they're looting your house. It took me almost a decade to even say the word again.

Still, I'm a rebel, of the tear-the-heads-off-parking-meters variety. Or at least I have an anti-authoritarian streak a mile wide. I once fired a potato at 250mph from a home-built cannon and took out the first speed camera in LA. I was 17. But I digress.

Here's something new from the small but devoted crew at StrikeSapphire.com, who've unwittingly put our lives and souls into building up the Bitcoin gaming community: We're giving away 5 BTC every weekend, rain or shine, to the top overall winner in our games for the weekend. We've built a new leaderboard here just for this purpose. The contest starts every weekend at 00:00 GMT Thursday, and ends 00:00 on Monday. Payouts are made Monday during the day, by hand in case it's a close race.

5 Bitcoins, ppl... we're not fuckin around. We're your guys, and we're spreading the word to gamblers, far and wide who are still waiting months on Moneybookers and Visa/Mastercard transactions. Come and support us!
30  Economy / Gambling / StrikeSapphire | We need some support. on: March 08, 2012, 10:46:12 PM
I realize this isn't the right place to talk about gambling. But StrikeSapphire is on the brink of really tying together the Bitcoin world with the larger gambling world, worth billions a year in cashflow in and out... and right now we need your help.

We're not taking US players, and we're only taking Bitcoin deposits. We'll start taking other deposit methods sooner or later, but for the moment we're growing with Bitcoin. But we've made some amazing strides. We're the first Bitcoin casino to be listed with the "big boys", right alongside other deposit methods, on sites like casino-deposit.net and slotsdaily.com.

As it is, we're running the best freeroll poker games in the Bitcoin world. i.e., no cost to enter, no deposit necessary, just free Bitcoins to win, all the time. We've gotten a hard core of players who show up all the time, but we need more to make it exciting. Our freerolls go off around the clock, in several different denominations. You haven't heard much about it because we don't do a lot of advertising, but right now, we need you.

We need you to just come and play poker for some free Bitcoins. We have potential investors who'll be checking us out over the next few weeks, and we want our site to be busy. Help us impress them with the size of the business we've built around BTC, and the future that's obviously in this currency. You don't have to deposit, it costs you nothing, just come and play some free poker for real BTC. We have larger freerolls every night at 9pm and 11pm GMT. Help us bulk up.

Admins, I hope you'll let this ride for a day or so before you kick it down to gambling. I really want this to go out to all the community.

Thanks,
Josh

All the best Bitcoin games just got better. See you at the tables!

This just in... StrikeSapphire now has two new round-the-clock tournaments: a 3-player, $0.50 buyin with a $3 prize pool, and a 6-player, $0.50 buyin with a $6 prize pool. We're paying out double what you put in!

Also:
In addition to our round-the-clock $1.10 freeroll, StrikeSapphire is now offering two $3 NL-Holdem freerolls nightly, at 9pm and 11pm GMT. Only four players are needed to start, 10 players max (if we get more, we'll raise the payouts). See you there!
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BitcoinsForChristmas going mainstream -- lots of gifts! on: December 24, 2011, 08:53:27 PM
Great news -- BitcoinsForChristmas got tweeted by the Wall Street Journal! We've had over 3000 new hits since then. New gift orders are pouring in, and we'll be delivering them all day tomorrow to brand-new Bitcoin holders, who've never used the currency before.

On behalf of the site, and our sponsors, we're very proud to have been right at the front of the "second wave", just in time for the media's apologias for exaggerating Bitcoin's death; and we're glad to be doing something that reflects well on everyone in the community.

We're going to keep the site going for those late gifts, and possibly even turn it into a permanent free service. Why shouldn't you be able to send Bitcoins for Christmas in July? It costs us pennies now that it's up and running; it's great publicity for the currency, and it's obviously got value to the community.

So... Merry Christmas, enjoy the holidays, and thank you for helping us get the word out to so many new adopters. We'll be here in 2012, in one form or another, launching new sites and thinking of more ways to keep building on this amazing platform.
34  Economy / Gambling / [StrikeSapphire] Real stakes for real (wo)men - $25 blackjack, $50 roulette. on: December 11, 2011, 10:48:09 PM
If you're a silver or gold star VIP player on StrikeSapphire, we've got big news... We've upped the VIP stakes to $25 on blackjack, $50 on roulette, $10 on Three Card Poker, and $10 on our craps tables. Which are, if I might humbly point out, the only multiplayer roulette and craps tables in the industry – not just in Bitcoin.

If you don't have a star yet, you'll get there. Play and find out.

Meanwhile, use the code Atchafalaya to claim up 200% extra on any deposit up to $100. See our terms for the details.

See you at the tables!
35  Economy / Gambling / [StrikeSapphire: REP FRIENDLY] Casino operators, let's talk. on: November 04, 2011, 10:06:53 PM
Look. No one's reading these threads.

On a basic level, we all got into this because in some way, we weren't able to run standard casinos with Visa & Mastercard. We all know what that costs is well outside the reach of a small startup team.

You all know there's been a decline in traffic the last few weeks, that's been accelerating over the past few days. No one's spending Bitcoin. You also know, if you're in this business, that Bitcoin is the only thing making it possible for you to run your business at all. It's literally the only free space left to play in, where no bank or payment processor can tell you what to do; where you don't need to give up equity in your company to bootstrap it; and (for most of you) where you don't have to care what governments pass which laws.

We're with you on two out of those three, and we can see an argument for the last one.

Rather than jumping ship one by one, let's figure out how to turn Bitcoin into a payment standard on par with Paypal or Visa. There's obviously a market -- more in the US, but I think it'll increase everywhere. This is why we launched BitcoinsForChristmas.com. We won't be the only beneficiaries of that site; it's aim is to help get the whole economy pumping again. Look, there are two things going on here:

1) Your regular Bitcoin user isn't a gambler. He likes new stuff. He liked your site when it was new. But poker players and gamblers don't wade through this much garbage to deposit at Bodog, so why bother with us? We need these coins in the hands of average players -- not average Bitcoin users.

2) Bitcoin itself is resting on a knife's edge between a group of believers who understand its potential, and a mass of idiots who follow the last thing TechCrunch wrote. We need to broaden our base, simplify, and start dealing with this like professional gaming outfits rather than rag-tag, fly by night, might shut down tomorrow websites.

Andrew Bitcoiner had brought up the possibility of a Bitcoin gaming association; I'd like to see that become a reality. I also think we need to pull together separately from the rest of the Bitcoin world to say -- look, this is a viable payment method. Use this instead of Paypal and you get more for your money. We don't pay vig to the processors, and we pass that savings on to you. No one who gambles online should be gambling with anything other than Bitcoin.

I've spent enough time hanging out on Seals and BTCOnTilt to know, this is a uniform suffering that's going on right now. We need to pull together before we fall separately. Sapphire can't condone taking US bets, but we can work with you to drive the traffic you want, if you can help us build the currency up as a whole so there are more players for everybody. This is an open call. Work with us; let's just suspend competition for the moment and deal with the common problem.

Anyone who has ideas is welcome to contact me day or night. Here, or through help@strikesapphire.com. I want to hear what you think.
36  Economy / Gambling / [Sapphire] - Update - Nov. 18th-20th Bonus Code on: November 03, 2011, 05:53:42 PM

37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / New site: BitcoinsForChristmas.com !!! on: October 30, 2011, 07:00:14 PM
Hi all.

In the interest of bringing Bitcoin to a wider audience, we've worked with GoWest (thebitcointrader.com) to bankroll and launch BitcoinsForChristmas.com, a new, free-to-use site that allows you to send a gift of Bitcoins to anyone with an email address, and helps them through the process of receiving their first coins. We think this site has the potential to dramatically improve the spread of the currency, by giving incentive (a gift) to a lot of people who wouldn't otherwise find the time to download a client and join our fledgling economy.

As a company with a deep stake in the future commercial viability of BTC, we've built this for the good of all Bitcoin merchants, including ourselves. A rising tide lifts all boats. There are no ads or banners on the site; only a "sponsors" links page which the gift recipient sees when they get their coins. We'll be contacting respected Bitcoin merchants shortly on how they can become sponsors; however, we only hope to break even on the design and development. We won't be excluding competing casinos from sponsorship, either, as we believe it's in all our interests to pull together.

So put the word out, and send your loved ones the gift of Bitcoin this holiday!
38  Other / Archival / Something New on: October 23, 2011, 10:10:22 PM
I don't usually post on the general board, but StrikeSapphire is doing everything in our power to promote BTC as a vehicle of trade to a wider audience, and in that vein we have a really exciting new giveaway we want to announce.

StrikeSapphire.com, the only complete & legit Bitcoin casino, is now giving away free Bitcoin QR cards from PayMyAddress.com with any deposit of $50 or more. We believe these cards are part of the bridge we need to build between the fiat currency of today and the digital currency of tomorrow, and we want to put them into the hands of as many people as possible, at our own expense.

Upon deposit you'll receive an email with a special link letting you sign up for the card for free. You'll receive two cards. One with your public address:

Plus our Player's Card with your Sapphire deposit address (and our original Mayan Gold game graphic):

Limit one set per customer. Shipments are sent worldwide (excluding the US, or anywhere that playing with us is prohibited by local law).

Come & get 'em!

40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / General question: Physical Bitcoin transfers, what's the best solution? on: September 22, 2011, 09:04:40 PM
After reading about the fake Chinese restaurant and now Bu.mp, I'm trying to think of creative ideas for physical spending of Bitcoins -- not from an exchange, but from your own wallet. What would make them as easy to spend as cash? What would be easy for the merchant? Without buying prepaid cards, without necessarily even having a cell phone, without QR codes...without any third parties whatsoever, which is the whole beauty of Bitcoin. There should be some kind of system that makes it really easy.

I have a kind of half-baked idea about this, but I need some help fleshing it out, so please comment on this to help me. Here's what I thought of:

Suppose you kept your wallet on a memory stick, and there was a program that merchants could use, to type in a USD amount, that read the amount and converted it to Bitcoin at the current exchange rate, and then said "Insert memory stick". When the stick was inserted, the program would ask the user to type in a PIN code that was stored in a hashed file on the stick called "pin.dat". If it was accepted, the program would then load a key file that would decrypt the wallet.dat on the stick, transfer the correct amount, encrypt it again, and print a receipt for the transaction.

The downside to this is that it would require you to walk around with the most recent copy of your wallet in a relatively weak encryption format. Otherwise, it's very physical and could be streamlined to be really fast. What do you think?
