4  Bitcoin / Project Development / currency exchange start-up on: July 03, 2011, 04:45:13 AM
thinking of starting a currency exchange business but am afraid to advertise due to possible legal issues

the basic premise is:

market to international students as a cheap exchanger of currency, use bitcoins to pull off  a competitive exchange rate (relative to those mall kiosks that over charge, or a bank which skims off the top)

if i post in a local newspaper i want to have my legal bases covered. thoughts?

9  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Mining Contract (.2 BTC per day) on: June 15, 2011, 04:37:52 AM
Hello all

I was responding to a 'buying mining contract' thread in the marketplace when I had the idea to sell a small scale BTC per day based contract. I have .2 BTC per day to sell at the current difficulty level. This is a daily contract, based on 24 hour Mt. Gox prices.

interest?

12  Economy / Economics / BTC vs. USD on: June 11, 2011, 06:42:52 PM
I am starting this topic to hopefully get some more insights as to what others are thinking about the actual BTC economy. By actual, I mean the exchange of goods and services for BTC, rather than speculative trading.

It's clear that speculation is still the driving force behind the exchange rate fluctuation, with over 130k BTC changing hands today on Mt. Gox (only ~10k BTC mined per day). So assuming all of the BTC mined on any given day are thrown into the market, they were traded 13 times each!

This is some heavy heavy speculation... but we know not all the BTC mined are traded right away. As a first estimate, I'm going to say 50-75% of BTC mined per day are either hoarded or used in some way on the web.

Let me know what you think  ... and share the info!
