I've been searching for these cards specs on Darkcoin but its been so long since i've mined Darkcoin (it was a hot summer) but now my desktop is back in action ready to mine. Can someone help me out?
I'm using my SGMiner from May: sgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.simpledrk.com:3353 -u Address -p x -w 128 -I 13 -k darkcoin
Is there a better more targeted approach? Is there a more effecient miner out now?

Hey guys, I'm looking at this power supply on newegg to snag during the bitcoin promo. The plan is to have it to power 3 Antminer S3's, standard clocking. I'm wondering if anyone has used this power supply, and if you think it can handle the job? I fail to see why its a whopping 30-100$ cheaper than all the other PSU's of that caliber I am finding. Thoughts? Edit: Here is the link, this is why we don't post right before bed: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152045&cm_re=1200w_psu-_-17-152-045-_-Product

Hey guys, So basically my issue is this: I want to contribute more to bitcoin. So far all I have been able to do is use part of my savings and income to purchase bitcoins and use them whenever possible. I am not the crazy evangelist type, but I do try and explain it to people when asked, and I try to come off as normal as possible when discussing bitcoin. For better or worse I have gotten about 10 people to buy bitcoin, and with one member of my family, we now try and one up eachother in hashpower (I will be over 3 th/s when Antminers ship ). I mine on a small pool, I run a bitcoin node, I buy bitcoin with every paycheck. I do a ton of bitcoin transactions per week (at least 10), even if its just exchanging money with my girlfriend or roommate (both believers although my roommate just likes to buy on the dips)). I do application and network security for a large corporation, and although its dry, my background has given me knowledge on how to explain bitcoin security to newbies and to really understand it as a technology. My point is, I feel like I am working this lame job to support my bitcoin habit (the pay is unbeatable, and I just don't have the raw skills to get that anywhere else). I feel like the very writing of this post makes me feel like a dumbass, but I have been tempted to pack up, take a flight to a developing nation, and opening up a bitcoin remittance shop. I have big dreams, and they mostly align all with bitcoin, but I feel like I am limiting myself working at my current job and am missing out on getting to contribute something BIG to the bitcoin community. Something that the COMMUNITY would be proud of, and something that can genuinely help people, not just some profit grab. I am learning to program in Ruby, as I have some ideas for more small ways I can contribute in my free time, but I'll say this, if anyone is hiring for a bitcoin company, talk to me. You won't find anyone more genuinely concerned with the success of bitcoin. I really shouldn't post when I've had a shitty day, BUT, here goes anyway, whoosh!

Hey guys,
With the difficulty on the rise I'm starting to look into the future of my at home mining farm, and what the enthusiast mining community will look like 6 months or a year from now. I'm thinking mining companies will start to shift into shipping blades and parts and we will see mining rigs much more customized in the future. The margins will get really thin, and these companies won't be able to ship giant boxes with psu's and metal cases.
My question is, is there anyone who has put together a controller board and power distribution system that could potentially support any type of board? I would be interested to hear some people's thoughts on this topic. Ideally in the future, I'd like to have an array of 20nm boards, and then when the die shrink and comes out, slowly replace them. Mining, in terms of ROI, is probably going to turn into a much longer term game, with the mining network growing at a snails pace in comparison to what its doing today.
Thoughts?

416 as of 5/1/14, or 1/5/14 for you non-murrcans.
(Disclaimer: I don't usually make stupid threads like this, but I think this would be good to know)

Hey, I was being shown a website of a friend of mine that is considering accepting bitcoin in the future for their subscriptions, but I was browsing around one of the artists there: https://www.ziibra.com/cait-willis/and apparently for $950 she will: "If you send me a high-resolution photo of something or someone that matters to you, I'll create a custom QR code print of it that's cut into wood. The QR code can redirect to any URL you choose. I'll also share insight into my process and updates about what I'm working on in my Journal throughout the year." Seems a little spendy for those who don't buy art much, but this art has a nice little piece of functionality to it that makes it a little special. This website doesn't accept bitcoin QUITE yet for some of the same reasons Wikipedia says it isn't, but they are interested in it. Please don't bombard them with requests to take BTC, but they are a relatively new startup, and I'd imagine if you wanted to spend that much money on that platform they might be willing to work with you. Anyway, watch the gals "Meet Me" video, as there are clips of her painting over the woodblock QR code.

Hey, so I met this guy that wants to get rid of his Cointerra. I'm thinking of picking it up. He is selling it for $3800 if I drive out to get it. Seems like a legit deal. I can come straight to his house and watch it work, and take it to my place. Its a couple hours drive, but whatever, could be a fun day trip.
I'm interested in your guys' take on that price, and if you can speculate as to if it would break even, or if you would consider that deal even at all. He says it hashes just under 1.7th/s, like 1690 gh/s. My concern is the high power usage. I have a dedicated 220 outlet to plug into, so I think It'll be a problem. I'm just looking at ROI in terms of BTC, and I'm just really not sure.
$3800 seems like an average deal, definitely better than ebay, but i dont give two shits about ebay prices.
So guys, what should I do? Do I even bother with it, or should I give him a counter-offer? Do cointerras even still have a warranty? Is there going to be any restitution for the lack of hashrate via a fix or anything for existing customers?
All feedback would be greatly apppreciated, thanks!

Hey guys, so, I am trying to figure this out, and let me see if I have gathered this correctly. If I play by standard investment tax laws, if I sell all my bitcoins that I have paid for with fiat from Coinbase now and realize lets say a $5,000 loss of all the ones I've paid Fiat for in the past couple months, "realized" that loss, could I then buy back April 15 at the end of 2013 and 2014 Q1 tax season in order to get a temporary tax break?
After that I wouldn't plan on selling unless it would be to realize a temporary loss in order to buy back again.
Some tax experts on the subject would be appreciated, thanks!

I am really confused where that hashing power is coming from. Did KNC take their Neptunes online? Did BFL ramp up their data center full of monarchs? Did batch 1 of the S2's just get turned on? I was expecting maybe 5.4 or 5.6 at most, but estimated 6.1b.... Please give me answers!

If the fraud industry were its own country, it would have the fifth strongest economy in the world, just ahead of the UK. Come and meet the fraudsters who're making a killing from the fastest growing crime on Earth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA4R84xfLOQIf this isn't a reason to cancel all of your credit cards and pay with everything in bitcoin, I don't know what will. Using Bitcoin and cash 100% of the time protects you from almost all forms of fraud except for the uninformed buyer from an untrusted seller, or from unsafe wallet storage. Inspired by another friend yet again getting her CC stolen and run up for Itunes gift cards and Bus passes. Woohoo....

Hey guys, I didn't see this posted but I'll leave it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CjldZLXiAUI'm amazed that the sentiment isn't more negative like your standard news slander. But this was a local story on our Seattle news station. Just goes to show you Seattle is where your future comes from hehehe. Edit: They are talking about MegaBigPower.

See the post below for a list of businesses in the Seattle area that already accept Bitcoin.
Hey all,
So I have a goal in mind. I frequent a large number of small businesses. These include anything from Mom And Pop restaurants, bars, theaters, art galleries, among others. People have been said that brick and mortar businesses will be the last to adopt bitcoins, but I'm not so sure that is the case. In the case of bars, many nerds will come in, buy one beer or two, and then the merchant pays .35 and 3.5% on their transactions of perhaps $3-4. Micropayments are a reality in Brick and Mortar shops, and it may be a while before you see the Best Buy guy scanning your transaction QR while he marks off your receipt as you exit, but small businesses have *[nothing to lose] and everything to gain from adoption, ESEPCIALLY in my neighborhood.
Below I will outline the options and pros and cons with each of my selections.
Adoption Options: Reality vs. Choices
1) Square and Bitcoin: Here are a few things I have thought about in the ways of Merchant adoption. Many merchants are switching to Square, and for good reason, but the biggest reason other than being hip and cool is it adds to their bottom line. So we need to show these businesses how bitcoin can do just that, and even more so. I see many businesses being convinced that bitcoin could be even more beneficial to them as a medium where as even if they convert immediately to fiat, their merchant transaction fees will be even less than Square. And then perhaps eventually, they might just hold a few themselves.
Pros: For merchants who already accept Square, we can get these businesses to use coinbase web app with little training and no additional overhead costs. Cons: Web App [ew] - no natiave app in apple products, and most square merchants have ipads (If someone can please clarify if the merchant services are fleshed out on the web UI, please post below, thanks!)
2) Nexus 7 or android tablet & Bitpay/Coinbase
Pros: -Fully supported -Easy to use -No need to replace current POS system
Cons: -Some overhead startup costs (Nexus 7 is about ~$200)
3) Revel and POS replacement systems that accept Bitcoin
Pros: -Fully supported by Revel/Coinbase. -Full integration with other payment methods (CC, Cash, etc.)
Cons: -Revel charges $1500 to train resellers (ouch) -Apple could ban Revel at any time and shut their asses down unles they remove bitcoin support (This is scary). -Huge startup and overhead costs.
These options are what I was able to come up with, and what I think I've decided on is to stick with mostly option (1) and (2) if possible. If anyone has any advice, or suggestions please let me know. I'd love to hear strategies other people have used to get other merchants on board with this. My first couple places I am going to purchase a few Nexus' 7's and outfit them out of my own pocket, and see if I can work with some others with square to take that jump and get them signed up with a merchant services. I then want to get the folks in the area on board here to support these businesses for making that leap of faith, but also perhaps I'll post their social media handles, and the rest of you can thank them for being pioneers!
The below post will be a list of businesses in the Seattle area that accept Bitcoin, seperated by Goods/Services Type, Thanks! If you have any to add, please post them here, or if you have a list, post it here and I'll add it, thanks!!!!
