1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Argon2M CPU mining terrible results on AMD Threadripper 1950x on: December 31, 2018, 05:15:56 PM
Anyone else mining MERGE (Argon2M algo) ?  I am mining it on a 3 laptops, 3 rigs ( using the RIG's CPU ), and my desktop.
Here are my results

Intel Pentium G4620 @ 3.7Ghz 8GB
76 kh/s

Intel Pentium G4400 @ 3.2Ghz8GB
47.4 kh/s

Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67 Ghz 12GB
120.8 kh/s

AMD Threadripper 1950x @ 3.4 Ghz 32GB
100.2 kh/s

Intel Core i7 7560U @ 2.4 Ghz 16GB
141.3 kh/s

Intel Core i5 3337U @ 1.8 Ghz 8GB
87.6 kh/s

AMD A6 4400M APU @2.7 Ghz 8GB
65.3 kh/s

Intel Core i5 2410M @ 2.3 Ghz 8GB
36.7 kh/s

It seems to me the mining software is more optimized for Intel CPUs
Any advice on getting better hash rates on the Threadripper 1950x?
I have tried adjusting the number of threads and it made no difference.
Its only using 10% of my CPU.  Only way to get more hash is to run multiple instances of the Miner.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Cuda 9.2 vs Cuda 10 on 1080 Ti any feedback? on: October 14, 2018, 09:31:26 PM
Most of the mining software is starting to come out with Cuda 10 versions.  Currently all my rigs are running on Cuda 9.2.  I have been hesitant to upgrade to Cuda 10 due to the way driver upgrades on Rigs can sometimes be tempermental, and I don't have time to reinstall my OS on all my Rigs to get everything right.

So my question is.... Is there any performance gains in MH/s by upgrading my drivers to Cuda 10.x and running a miner compiled for Cuda 10.x for 1080 Ti.  Or are all the 10.x optimizations only good for the 2080 and 2080 Ti Cards?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Check your Electric Bill on: September 22, 2018, 09:59:07 PM
I just got my electric bill yesterday, and it was more than I was expecting.
Granted I know running the Rigs, + Home AC never turning off due to the Rigs, was going to up my usage.
When I divided out my bill by KWHs it came out to about 9 cents / KWH.
Originally when I did the math earlier in the year it was only 7 cents / KWH.
I went to my local electric company's website and found they have semi annual billing rates.
They have a summer rate which is 8.5 Cents / KWH + taxes and fees,  Then they have a winter rate which is 5.8 cents / KWH.
Luckily winter rates start Oct 1st for me.
Great knowing things are about to get more profitable.
Just a reminder to check your bills and make sure your rates aren't changing, as this kind of caught me off guard.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What Pools are winning all the RAVEN coins on: September 19, 2018, 07:44:23 PM
The pool I mine with have had a decent 3 days.  I have  my miners setup to auto profit switch.  A considerable amount of time is spent mining X16R  Usually we hit a Raven coin at least 7 - 9 times every 24 hours.  Last three days it was more of a 13 coins / 24 hour average.  Today so far not a single coin won.  During times like these I wonder who is winning the coins?  I checked some of the other pools, and none of the ones I normally mine with had won any raven either.  Is there anywhere that posts what pools are winning what coins?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What do you pay per KWH? on: August 31, 2018, 09:03:03 PM
Naturally as profitability drops, those with higher energy costs will likely shut off their rigs, and even liquidate.
How much does everyone pay per KWH.  State your location ( state and closest metro ), and your KWH rate
I will start

Lincoln Nebraska,  7 cents / KWH
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Ethereum Conference Call Today, Chances of Anti ASIC being approved on: August 24, 2018, 02:06:42 PM
They have several EIP they are considering today.  What are the chances of the Anti ASIC one being approved?
Maybe that would help encourage other coins to do the same.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Do PCIe expansion ports work? on: August 23, 2018, 03:17:47 AM
I have a mining rig with an older motherboard that only has 4 PCIe slots.  Rather than buying a new motherboard and cpu, I was wondering if I could use something like this to add more PCIe ports.

Has anyone used these for this purpose?   Are there any issues using them?  Do the cards still hash at full speed or does the expansion card slow things down a bit?
Looking to pickup a few more 1080Ti off ebay while prices are cheap, and don't want to have to build a new rig to run them.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Estimated Hash Rates for the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti on: August 18, 2018, 03:01:17 AM
I have done a little comparison of the hash rates for current cards to what the next generation might do.
How fast will the Nvidia 2080 1180 Hash Crypto Currencies

Granted I am focusing more on ALGOs that are Core and clock intensive and not Memory ALGOs like ETH.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Nvidia is expecting ’no contributions’ from blockchain sales for the year on: August 16, 2018, 10:52:16 PM
Nvidia says crypto-mining boom is over for now

If they are telling the truth, it means 1180 / 2080 are not going to hash very well.
Makes me glad I have held onto my 1080 Tis.
