1  Local / Pilipinas / Maniniwala pa ba Tayo Dito? HashFly to Launch New Cloud Mining Plan for 2025 on: May 12, 2025, 02:30:11 PM
Nabasa ko sa The Manila Times ang artikulo na ito Unlocking the Soaring Bitcoin Income, HashFly Launches a New Cloud Mining Plan for 2025 to Help Cryptocurrency Enthusiasts Maximize Passive Income

Then I checked their website at nakita ko ang mga contract offers nila.

Parang too good to be true naman itong service na inaalok nila.

2  Economy / Gambling discussion / |Awareness| Better check what your kids are playing!!! on: December 18, 2024, 09:41:20 AM
I read in the news that some illegal casinos are exploiting minor players of Roblox.

If in case someone does not know what Roblox is, it is a platform that allows its user to create game to be played by other user. For better explanation you can check this link of Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roblox

In an article titled: Gambling Commission: Illegal casinos are exploiting minors through Roblox, states that in an investigation, there are numbers of illegal casinos that are allowing minors to play in their platform.

This article states these keypoints:
Code:
Key points:

- A number of illegal casinos have been allowing children to gamble using the Roblox in-game currency, Robux

- Roblox has denied any involvement with the illegal casinos, which allow users to sign up using their Roblox credentials

- It has been revealed that users aged as young as 12-16 years old have been betting up to £175,000 on some of the sites

How this illegal casino operates is stated on the article link given above but the core process is that they (illegal casinos) allow their users to register using their Roblox account which in turn these illegal casinos can have access to the account and enable the player to change their Roblux credits into casino chips to use to bet on the casino then winnings can be withdrawn to cash.

One record states:
Quote
Good to know: Data from one illegal casino, BloxFlip, which has now ceased operations, revealed that children as young as 14 had gambled £52,000 on the site, with one 16-year-old’s account displaying a total spend of £175,000

What is alarming here is that Roblox is a popular games among the minors and even little kids.  According to the statistics given by the article: https://www.maxpowergaming.co/post/understanding-roblox-player-demographics, there are:

Quote
Age - How Old Are Roblox Players?

Roblox's user base spans a wide age range, with a notable concentration of younger users from Gen Z and Gen Alpha:

- Over 13 years old: 44.9 million DAUs (57.8%)

- Under 13 years old: 32.1 million DAUs (41.3%)

So as a parent, it is advised to monitor what our kids are playing, it might be a bit an extra effort but at least we make sure that they are not engaging in gambling at an early age.

About the gaming platform being used by these illegal platform, do you think they are completely unaware or totally not involved with these illegal casino activities as they claimed?

Any idea on how a parent can keep their kids from accessing illegal gambling site?

3  Economy / Gambling discussion / AI and Brain Science on Equilibrium in Gambling Addicition and Sports Betting is on: August 29, 2024, 02:25:40 PM

AI, brain science: Is an equilibrium possible in gambling addiction and sports betting?

While browsing the internet, stumbled on an article above   It was stated ↑↑↑ that researchers are looking for ways how AI can help in making an equilibrium between gambling addiction and  Sports Betting.

According to the article, the nature of gambling addiction is not simple.  It is is affected by different factors like psychological, social, and mental aspects.  To better understand and combat the complexity of gambling addiction, researchers thinks that AI technology can help in this situation.

Since AI can have a significant role in analyzing patterns, and predicting risk and can be used as personal support if one has some inquiries about certain topics, especially in gambling addiction and responsible gambling.  Although there are some concerns about privacy and the possible exaggeration of cases, researchers believe that using AI to understand gambling addiction can overweigh the concerns.

There is also a debate about whether AI can help balance gambling activities or complicate things.  There are studies that AI can help facilitate the moderation of gambling activities and identify gambling addiction since it can perform behavioral analysis, predicting individuals at risk.  it can also set as personal support and give real-time alerts.  AI having access to database about gambling and gambling addiction can be used as a tool for information and AI can be used as a chatbot to help in a therapeutic approach.  But there are also a flaw in this method since privacy, misuse and effectiveness is also the concern.

How about you, do you think AI can help balance the gambling activity of a person without complicating things out?

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mt. GOX Hacked a Blessing in Disguise for Victims? on: July 01, 2024, 07:06:31 PM
It's been a hot topic these days that the collapsed exchange Mt. Gox will begin paying back thousands of users in a few days.  I am in no way saying that getting hacked is good but considering the current situation of the victims who are supposed to receive the refund, they would be gaining more than 10,000x% profit[1].  The fund being hacked, recovered and locked for about 10 years made these victims unable to move their funds, and the recovery and refund resulted in a huge profit.  If the exchange was not hacked, many of these people could have sold their BTC at worth less than $1000 and they should not have gained this huge amount of profit when they received their refund.

Bitcoin was around $600 when the exchange shuttered.  And now the price soar for more than 100x as the refund is about to be executed.  I am happy for these people, all their stress, worries and patience had been fully rewarded.  I hope the refund process will not put too much stress on the Bitcoin market since $9B worth of coins will be unloaded to the market and this is not a small amount.

With this thing happening, I believe the Mt. Gox hack after the authority recovered the fund became a blessing in disguise for victims who exercise patience. Your thought?

Btw, I read that the disbursement is a mixture of Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash, Does the victim have a claim on the Bitcoin cash equivalent of their Bitcoin when Bitcoin was forked?

5  Economy / Gambling discussion / PH Senator pushes a Ban to POGOs and All Sort of Online Gambling... on: June 30, 2024, 10:22:04 PM
This is very bad for the people who love online gambling in the Philippines.  A senator of the Philippines proposes a Bill to ban all Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) and all kinds of Online Gambling.  Any individual involved  will be fined  up to Php500k(US$8,536) or imprisoned for up to six months. More story on the link below:

Philippines senator pushes for banning POGOs, all forms of online gambling

The proposed bill is due to the recent illegal POGO raids where human trafficking, murder, and money laundering were uncovered. Due to this, one of the Philippine senators believes that the best move is to ban POGOs and online gambling all in all and punish any person who is involved in online gambling activity if the bill is approved.

In my personal view, I do not think there is a need to ban POGO's and online gambling.  This is not the fault of a regular individual but the institution behind the gambling regulatory board.  Instead of banning and penalizing people who are engaged in gambling activities, the bill should strengthen the regulation and purge the institution of any corrupt official that allows these illegal activities to proliferate.  He should implement a bill that will severely punish any government official that engage in illegal gambling activities. Banning POGOs and online gambling is like taking the easiest way out and depriving the Philippine government of the possible revenue that can be generated from these ventures and as if this kind of bill will prevent illegal gambling from existing in a country. I hope this kind of bill won't progress instead take an alternative implementation of cleansing the gambling regulatory board of any corrupt official and holding them accountable for their wicked crimes.

What about you do you think banning offshore gambling operators and online gambling will solve the spread of illegal gambling activities in a country?
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Was it a Gut's feeling a Mathematical calculation or a Coincident? on: June 29, 2024, 09:28:37 PM
Another article caught my attention and wanted to share it with you to know your thoughts about the subject matter.

A person won $2m after having a positive gut feeling after buying a scratch Chrome Scratch ticket.  More story on the link given below:

Seattle Man Has “Gut Feeling” After Buying Scratch Ticket, Wins $2M

Does a human have the instinct to feel or know the outcome of gambling?  In this article it was said that the winner have the positive guts after buying the ticket and eventually won $2m or is it just a coincident?

I looked for some discussion on the internet and I agree with one of the replies on qoura[1] that the winner on Sportsbet does not rely on luck but rather on the mathematical calculation of the information presented by the data of the competing team but in this case, it is different since the game is based on chance and it would be hard to calculate the possible result since the data of distribution of the said ticket is unknown.

So in case where you are buying a lottery or scratch ticket, would you abide by your gut's feeling whether to purchase to bet on the combination of a number?  Do you believe that instinct can help a person win in a chance based gambling games?

For me, the person involved in the story just got a lucky coincidence that he has chosen the winning scratch ticket and has nothing to do with his gut's feeling.  Everyone has a positive gut feeling whenever they are engaging in chance-based gambling games and a majority of them fail miserably losing all their bankroll and even beyond that.

7  Economy / Gambling discussion / GambleAware wants Sports Gambling Promotion and Sponsorship moderated or... on: June 27, 2024, 11:08:19 PM
According to the this article: GambleAware: Concerns grow over gambling advertising in football, a survey conducted found that 73% of football fans thinks that there are so much gambling advertisement and sponsorship in sports while 66% of then wanted the sponsorship to be banned.

Read the whole story here:
GambleAware: Concerns grow over gambling advertising in football

I do not know how this survey came into the statistics that 73% of the football fans thinks that gambling promotion is excessive and that 66% of them is into banning the sponsorship when the survey just picked a couple of respondents probably not even reaching 1% of the fans.

The survey statistics link has not been provided to back up the claim of the statistics.  I don't know if gamblingaware is just making up the numbers to support their request of moderating the sports gambling promotion and sponsorship.

For me, whether there is an advertisement or not, if a person wants to gamble and bet on sports, they will engage in sports betting even without these promotions and sponsorship.  If someone wanted to moderate or restrict fans from betting in sports, they should address the platform that accepts those bets first.  Removing or minimizing gambling sports advertisements and sponsorship may take away huge fundings for the sports industry especially those teams that are supported by different gambling platforms.

Others may have a different view on this so I wanted to hear your opinion.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Thailand to Legalize Gambling To combat Illegal gambling or.... on: June 24, 2024, 08:03:11 PM
I read an article about Thailand's Prime Minister planning to legalize gambling in order to combat illegal gambling.  He also stated that the illegal gambling operation are earning trillions of baht but are not contributing to the nation.  Read more about the news here:
Thai PM: Legalise gambling to tackle existing illegal gambling

I believe the Thai PM realized that they are losing for not making gambling legal in their country.  I believe it is not to combat the illegal gambling but rather to take advantage of the gambling activities to get more taxes to fund the country's treasury.  It was said that if gambling is legalized the country might bring an amount ranging from TBH30B to TBH50B (US$0.8bn to US$1.3bn) in investments to the country aside from the annual taxes that can be earned from gambling industries.

I also think that it is a wise decision on the PM side since it is impossible to stop gambling, so why not take advantage of it for the country's development?  Your thought?

12  Economy / Economics / Crashes are The Best Times to Get Rich - Robert Kiyosaki on: June 05, 2022, 05:34:44 AM
Rober Kiyosaki[1], a person popular in the network marketing industry and founder of Rich Global and Rich Dad Company[2] stated that the best time to get rich is to get in during the market crash.  He stated that if the Bitcoin market continues to plunge, he is ready to get in and start buying.  His entry window is when BTC touches $20k[3]

Quote
“BITCOIN CRASHING. Great news,” he tweeted recently. “I am waiting for Bitcoin to crash to 20k. Will then wait for test of bottom which might be $17k. Once I know bottom is in I back up the truck. Crashes are the best times to get rich.”

He also states that "Bitcoin is the future of money" and thinks that the bottom of this current bull trend would be below $11k. Read more here:

Having an optimist view despite the recent Bear trend and crashes is one of the better traits traders should have.  We have known Bitcoin to have the ability to rebound and yet many had been pessimists and lots lose hope.  We should look at this bear market in a different view rather than Bitcoin being Doom and as a matter of fact, many known billionaires gain lots of profit by investing in a crashing company or stocks but have been proven to recover.

So what do you think about Kiyosaki's point of view, is it possible that "crashes are the best time to get rich"?

13  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin Breaks Bullish Trend Line? on: May 06, 2022, 06:41:49 PM

Based on the chart above article[1] from coindesk stated that Bitcoin had broken the Bullish trend line.
Quote
Bitcoin's daily chart is leaning bearish ahead of U.S. April payrolls and wage-growth data that could influence market expectations about the pace of the Federal Reserve's monetary tightening.

Quote
Key Factors
  • On Thursday, the leading cryptocurrency fell nearly 8%, printing a UTC close under an ascending trend line that connected bullish higher lows from Jan. 24 and Feb. 24.
  • The breakdown of the three-month rising trend line perhaps implies the resumption of the broader decline from November highs. Popular indicators like the relative strength index (RSI) and the moving average convergence divergence (MACD) histogram are also biased bearish.
  • Support is seen at $34,322, the Feb. 24 low, followed by the Jan. 24 low of $32,933, according to the charting platform TradingView.
  • The non-farm payrolls report scheduled for release on Friday at 12:30 UTC is likely to show the economy gained 391,000 jobs last month after adding 431,000 in March, according to FXStreet.
  • The unemployment rate is likely to have dropped to 3.5% in April from 3.6% in March. Wages probably grew 0.4%, or 5.5% on a year-over-year basis, the same pace as the preceding month.
  • With the Fed focused on bringing down inflation, the jobless rate and wage-growth numbers are likely to overshadow the payrolls figure.
  • A tight labor market and wage increases cause inflation, so an above-consensus wage-growth figure and a drop in the jobless rate may bolster inflation worries and increase the odds of a 75 basis point rate increase next month. That might bring additional downside pressure for risk assets, including bitcoin (BTC).
  • The Fed on May 4 raised the benchmark interest rates by 50 basis points and suggested that large increases are likely in the coming months. The central bank also said it would start reducing its near $9 trillion balance sheet.
  • While Fed Chair Jerome Powell said policymakers aren't actively considering a 75 basis point hike, that guidance may have been based on expectations the labor market will cool and inflation will peak.
  • Powell made it clear the central bank is open to tolerating an economic recession to bring down inflation, leaving the door open for renewed repricing of even bigger increases.

Based on the key factors minimizing inflation and the incoming payrolls might affect the demand for Bitcoin in the market.  But points given, I still believe that this is just another lower high in the bearish market trend.

14  Economy / Economics / Warren Buffett and His Expansive Explanation against Bitcoin on: May 01, 2022, 08:10:10 PM
In a Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholder Meeting last Saturday,  Warren Buffett gives his most expansive explanation for why he doesn’t believe in bitcoin.[1]
In this video  he tackles and compares Bitcoin to other asset and give emphasis on the returns.

Here is the interesting part of his speech on that video:

Quote
“Whether it goes up or down in the next year, or five or 10 years, I don’t know. But the one thing I’m pretty sure of is that it doesn’t produce anything,” Buffett said. “It’s got a magic to it and people have attached magics to lots of things.”
Quote
“If you said… for a 1% interest in all the farmland in the United States, pay our group $25 billion, I’ll write you a check this afternoon,” Buffett said. ”[For] $25 billion I now own 1% of the farmland. [If] you offer me 1% of all the apartment houses in the country and you want another $25 billion, I’ll write you a check, it’s very simple. Now if you told me you own all of the bitcoin in the world and you offered it to me for $25 I wouldn’t take it because what would I do with it? I’d have to sell it back to you one way or another. It isn’t going to do anything. The apartments are going to produce rent and the farms are going to produce food.
Quote
“Assets, to have value, have to deliver something to somebody. And there’s only one currency that’s accepted. You can come up with all kinds of things — we can put up Berkshire coins... but in the end, this is money,” he said, holding up a $20 bill. “And there’s no reason in the world why the United States government… is going to let Berkshire money replace theirs.”

Hearing his explanation, I just came to think that even though Buffet is seeing the importance of Bitcoin, without knowing how it works and why it gets its value, he tends to reject it.  It is obvious how he repels the idea that Bitcoin had already been used as legal tender across the globe despite many governments not legalizing it as one.  He is also down mining other countries saying that the only currency is $US (4:40 timeline of the video).  I wonder if he is not born an American, would he say the same thing?

In the latter part of the article[1] is kinda interesting
Quote
“In my life, I try and avoid things that are stupid and evil and make me look bad in comparison to somebody else – and bitcoin does all three,” Munger said.

Actually, I read this as :

In my life, I try and avoid things that make me look stupid and evil and  bad in comparison to somebody else – and bitcoin does all three,”

15  Economy / Economics / Argentinian Government Ready to Take Advantage of Crypto Holder on: April 28, 2022, 10:53:59 PM
Argentinian Tax Agency Supports Creation of Global Crypto Report System to Avoid Evasion

Quote
The AFIP, the Argentinian tax agency, is supporting the creation of a centralized system that serves as a registry for cryptocurrency holders. According to statements from its head, this would make it easier for tax agencies all over the world to curb evasion. The organization has already made use of financial information to collect taxes from Argentinian users with bank accounts abroad.

As expected, The government will do the best they can to milk money from crypto holders.  This is the first time I read about the government creating a centralized record of the registry of the crypto holders in order to get tax on whatever profit the crypto holder has.  It looks like this is the start of the crypto tax collection exploit of the government.  I am sure after this one becomes successful, many countries will follow this example.  So we better expect that in the near future our very own country will do such a thing. Cryptocurrency blockchain may be decentralized but the government seems to have its way of breaking its shell.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Privacy Coin Firo under 51% attack on: January 20, 2021, 05:02:37 PM
Does anyone of you hold Firo?  Firo is a privacy coin formerly known as Zcoin.  A piece of news on Coindesk stated that Firo is currently experiencing a 51% attack so the developer announced on Twitter that holders shouldn't do any transaction until the problem is solved.

What interesting in this is that Firo has been developing a protocol called Chainlock where it acts as a secondary layer of security to combat 51% attack sadly it is weeks away from deployment.   I wonder if this is some kind of scheme to introduce their Chainlock technology, but regardless this is just a piece of information to warn holders of Firo that its  network is currently experiencing a 51% attack.

Gox?

I think this is important to those who have LALA in their stash like me to know that the merge of LALA and COS had come to a decision to swap LALA to COS.  They had set a duration limit of until Oct. 18.  You will lose your coins if you fail to swap it on time.
