1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Rosewill 4U server case airflow on: January 02, 2018, 05:41:58 PM
I have a few of these cases all running 7-8 x 1080 ti's Founders Edition cards, and the airflow is easy to manage and they work perfectly for me.
I have set them up both ways and they work fine drawing air front to back as they are designed, and also the other way around pushing air out the front.
My setups are all in a data center with great air conditioning and and they mine at around 53-59 degrees

I'm curious if anyone has one setup with 7-8 GPU's that are non FE, and use aftermarket coolers and have 2 or 3 fans pushing air all over the place?
I think it might still work OK with strong exhaust fans to get rid of all the air, but I wanted to hear from someone who has done it before I buy lots of cards.

Any input appreciated Cheesy

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Anyone have 5+ 1080 ti's working with risers on Asus Z270A? on: July 01, 2017, 04:34:51 PM
I am having a really hard time getting this board to work with more than 4 1080 ti Founder Editions.

Brand new Asus Z270-A with a Pentium G4400, and a single stick of DDR4.
It's on the latest bios and I've tried 4G decoding on/off, changed PCIE speeds from auto to gen1/gen2, disabled audio, etc.
Installed windows 10 more than a few times and the best I can get is 4 working and the 5th with error code 43.

I even tried running 2 cards in the X16 slots, and then 3 via risers in the remaining X1 slots but that still doesn't work
Tried adding one at a time...but I just can't seem to crack this thing!

The risers are ver 006c with the SATA to 6 pin PCIE and I'm only powering one per SATA chain/cable.

I can get them all to work individually on pretty much any slot, but once I plug them all in, I end up with 2, 3, or 4 working.
It just almost seems random as to how many will work and in which slots. Even boots without showing all the cards, and then you move them around and they show up.

I'm at the point where I'm going to switch motherboards to something else, unless I can get some solid advice from someone that has 1080ti's running
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining on Supermicro motherboards on: June 29, 2017, 03:58:03 PM
Just curious if anyone has any experience setting up multi GPU rigs using risers on Supermicro motherboards.

I have an X10SRL-F that won't detect more than 1 GPU with risers and I can't seem to get it working no matter what settings I change in the bios Sad
I've tried above 4g decoding on and off. Changed PCIE speed to Gen 1/2/3, and tweaked a bunch of other things without any luck.

This board would be perfect as it has IPMI for remote management and 6 x PCIE v3 and 1 x PCIE v2.
Here's a quick review - https://www.servethehome.com/supermicro-x10srl-f-review-xeon-e5-v3-motherboard/

Any help appreciated!
