Bitcoin has been unstoppable in recent weeks. The digital currency continued its recovery after a horrid few months, hitting a 2019 high of $8,350. This was after the currency had traded below $4,000 just a month earlier. While many believe that the price is finally catching up to the developments in the field, U.S’ largest bank isn’t as enthusiastic. According to JPMorgan, bitcoin may have gotten ahead of itself with its recent rally. In a note to investors, some of the bank’s analysts suggested that the currency had surged beyond its intrinsic value. This, they believe, is a similar situation to the 2017 price rise which preceded a devastating slump. The analysts wrote: "Over the past few days, the actual price has moved sharply over marginal cost. This divergence between actual and intrinsic values carries some echoes of the spike higher in late 2017, and at the time this divergence was resolved mostly by a reduction in actual prices." After the $40 million hack last week, Binance has finally resumed withdrawals and deposits. Yesterday, the cryptocurrency exchange announced that it will be performing a system upgrade after which both deposits and withdrawals will be enabled. The official announcement titled “System Upgrade Notice” stated: Binance will suspend deposits, withdrawals, and trading during this period. Deposits that are not completed before the start of the upgrade will be processed after the upgrade is complete. Please allow some time for deposits to be reflected in your account following the system upgrade.” The nature of the wording in the announcement is somewhat misleading because saying “Binance will suspend deposits and withdrawals” while they were never enabled in the first place is at the very least confusing. After extending the initial system upgrade by two hours, Binance announced that the system upgrade was complete and users can now resume using the exchange as normal. IBM is hiring talent to work on its Stellar-based world wire system. This will inevitably lead to increased interest in a blockchain that offers many beneficial features when compared to similar networks. Here are some details on the role: “This role will assist in providing Offering Management expertise in allowing IBM Blockchain Financial Solutions clients, who do cross border payments, to avail themselves of a transformational method to initiate their payments. The Stellar blockchain ledger is used as the system of record for settlement of financial transactions between counter-parties on the World Wire network” We thought we’d dive a little deeper into Stellar. Stellar is an open-source blockchain project founded in 2014 by Ripple co-founder Jed McCaleb. McCaleb is also well known in the blockchain sector for being the founder of now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange Mt Gox and peer-to-peer file transfer system eDonkey. The Stellar Development Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to support the development of the Stellar protocol. Ethereum is up over 6% in the past 24 hours as the market momentum intensifies. After trading in the $160 level the past week, the price jumped over $16 looking for new support in the $170 range. 2019 is turning out to be quite a positive year for Bitcoin, is the crypto winter finally over? After hitting a low of $3,300 back in December, Bitcoin has been increasing in value ever since. The momentum and volume has been building little by little the past 5 months and today we hit a new all time high for 2019! At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $5754 having risen over $100 in the past hour alone and over $355 in the past 24 hours. Get excited because this is a new all time high for 2019! The good news is that we broke through the $5600 resistance level which we tested last week with no luck. At this point, all the eyes are on the charts to see if we can either reach $6000 or at least turn $5600 into support instead. The two major roadblocks ahead for Bitcoin’s price are undoubtedly the $6000 psychological number and the $6300 level which held as support for over 6 months during the end of the bear market. When one of the biggest Bitcoin critics had his day to testify before Congress, the crypto world knew it would be brutal. Popularly known as Dr. Doom, Nouriel Roubini held nothing back as he attacked crypto, but it was the aftermath that was even more exciting. The overall cryptocurrency market momentum remains rather bearish for the time being. Bitcoin is still on the decline, which usually doesn’t bode well for alternative currencies on the market. The Dogecoin price is also feeling a bit of pressure, which is only normal after several small bull runs over the past two weeks. The past few weeks have been spectacular for the Dogecoin price. After remaining nearly flat for over two months, the value per DOGE suddenly started shooting up in the past 14 days. Several strong uptrends were noted, and there hasn’t been a major correction ever since. As of right now, there is no real correction to speak of either, despite a small Dogecoin price dip forming on the charts. At press time, the father of cryptocurrency has managed to remain at $7,000 after hitting the newfound zone during yesterday’s afternoon hours.
