dAppBox internals

The dAppBox is a peer to peer network infrastructure, both for public usage (documents storage is permanent and public) and private usage documents are stored on the network and their presence (hash) is certified on the blockchain.

The dAppBox is a P2P network where all the user files are only stored in devices owned by the user. In order to facilitate the integration of the dAppBox with the iXXo blockchain nodes, iXXo cloud services can deploy the user P2P node on the cloud, while still guaranteeing that only the user can access this cloud-hosted P2P node.

In order to upload local files to the remote P2P personal node hosted on the cloud, a local software (in the user taskbar) can synchronize local folders with the remote personal dAppBox. Currently, this local tool (called the dAppBox client) is available for Windows and Linux.



The other features of the dAppBox are:

1. Block-level file copying . Files difference only are synchronized, guaranteeing performances similar to Dropbox (also implementing it).

2. File versioning: dAppBox keeps track of file versions and associated iXXo proofs are stored on the blockchain, so we not only have proof of authorship but also of document editing (who what when).

iXXo is building a public blockchain aiming to have a usability equivalent to existing web application. For this, it had to design a new consensus protocol, called "MIXED PROOF OF AUTHORITIES" (MPoA). The idea is we can trust some validators nodes thanks to their identities, such as existing proof of Authority consensus, but with many identity types that have to be put in competition in a structured marketplace.

In addition to this, iXXo is solving user profiles' data privacy issues, and cumbersome issues of users private key management on complex browser plugins.

It means Input Output (IO) double exchange (two-side marketplace). The X is the symbol of crossing. In the IXXO logo we find the orange diamond, which represents private data (valuable, hot data) preserved and protected by the exchange mechanisms.

What languages and tools are you using ?

Is IXXO a Blockchain ?
IXXO is a public Blockchain operated by trusted nodes (with some strong state-level legal enforcement). The nodes risk severe penalties (economical, penal, reputation) for wrong doing. The IXXO blockchain is a fored Ethereum with an altered and simplified consensus (for businesses, we apply the KISS: Keep It Simple ... principle).
IXXO is integrated with the dAppBox to prevent features such as smart contract functions on private data and data unlocking based on smart contract conditions.
