1  Economy / Lending / Loan request, 0.025 BTC on: January 28, 2020, 02:25:36 PM
Hi! I'm just short until payday. I don't have collateral in crypto, but I can prove I'm waiting for this crypto payment to go thru. That's about USD 500 in NAS (which I can quickly trade for BTC or ETH).

Edit: Inside the project page there's a reference to a github project. Well, I just uploaded a quick repo here, to prove I own the mentioned account. Also, I have some NFT I'm willing to transfer to my lender; I think twitterbot.eth is a valuable asset nowadays.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Non-Fungible Tokens on: January 16, 2020, 02:44:33 PM
Hi! After a quick search I realized there's no thread yet to discuss NFT, or non-fungible tokens.

A non-fungible token is a digital asset that has some attributes that makes them unique (in the case of ERC-721 tokens), or at least limited (ERC-1155). What does it means it that, for example, you can create a unique token that depicts an art piece, or a digital pet (imagine a Pokémon with unique attributes), or a limited-edition of, let's say, 10 rare pets that share the same attributes (those pets will be fungible, but still rare).

A good example is the ENS, or Ethereum Name System (sort of a DNS for Ethereum addresses). You cannot buy 10000 ENS at once as you can with BTC; instead, you buy one at a time, and depending on the availability, you can end up owning twitterbot.eth, cocacola.eth, or some random garbage like fbnjshfjsahfsf742.eth. As with traditional domain names, each one is unique (you cannot have two copies of cocacola.eth), and each one has its own intrinsic market value. There's an additional value to ENS: you can use it as a name-resolver in Etherscan, Metamask, etc. For example, my ETH address is beckermatic.eth. You can use that right away in Etherscan, and it will resolve the “colloquial” ENS into my address.

There are other NFT that are somewhat fungible: limited-editions, like some weapons in decentralized games, can share the same attributes among a few amount (think about weapons in Diablo II: most of them are common, even crap, but some of them are rare, and even unique).

Now, you can still buy a NFT using crypto, but just one at a time, or a bundle at a time. Currently, the most-known “exchange” for NFT is OpenSea, where you can buy, sell, or even bid for any NFT in existence. There are also other marketplaces more specialized, like KnownOrigin (for crypto-art), as well as MakersPlace and others.

IMHO, there's a good market here waiting to be discovered. Right now it's still niche. What do you think about the subject?
3  Economy / Lending / Loan request, 0.0225 BTC with ENS collateral on: January 16, 2020, 12:07:04 PM
Hi. As I got a delayed payment, I'm seeking for a relatively short loan (two weeks top) of 0.0225 BTC (or its equivalent in ETH if you prefer) to cover for some expenses. I can repay 0.029 BTC.

I have twitterbot.eth and cointumbler.eth, plus several NFT in OpenSea as collateral. I'm willing to prove I own that address by sending a tiny amount of ETH to any potential lender. That's kind of my public ETH address.

Thanks in advance!

In regards to this deleted tweet from Forbes Middle East, I want to start a thread about this personality in crypto.

I've meet him last year, and, to be honest, he seems like a cool guy that helped me a lot in the way. But there are a lot of people claiming he's a scammer, an impostor, etc.

What's your input on the subject? Have you been scammed by this guy? Have you been helped like others claim to be? Is he a Robin Hood of our times?

Please: no doxxing. No personal information (beyond handles and non-private info).

Edit: forgot to add link.
Edit2: wrong link; I'm tripping today.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Westland Storage and WLS - Ponzi scam on: May 18, 2018, 06:06:23 PM
It's all red flags in this project. First, when you navigate the site, all you see is testimonials, videos and other material trying to lure you into “invest” in it. Sure, sure, that's called marketing. But even inside your dashboard you're flooded with notifications about some random people uploading reviews.

If for some reason you decide to invest on WestlandStorage, you're required to send exactly the amount of BTC, ETH or whatever you're willing to say goodbye. If you manage to miss even a satoshi, the system will be unable to process your request. How hard is to write a servlet that listens to an address and process the deposit made?

Then, you go to check the FAQ, only to discover that your investment will be locked for at least 40 days, and then, you'll be allowed to withdraw only 50% of the deposit. Even in North Korea this kind of abuse is illegal.

You're lured on a promise of a ROI of a daily 1% (although it's more like a weekly 6%). Another red flag. There's no way to make that kind of money unless you're running a Ponzi.

I've decided to research this a little more. I've made a small deposit back in April: 0.229 ETH. Not a lot back then. Guess what. Fourty days had passed and today I tried to contact the guys behind this, via Telegram, via email, via Twitter. No one is there.

Did I mention that, just after my registration and deposit, I've received an email from a Yahoo account demanding some more money to cover for gas?

The last red flag? Go check the registration info on the domain. Talking about that, doesn't sounds weird the word “Storage” for a startup that claims to buy real estate? It's almost like they bought a random expired domain and exploited its popularity, isn't?

Oh, and before you shills start trying to deny it all, I have several FAQ pages stored on Internet Archive. Yeah, they've changed the penalty fee on withdrawals from 25% to 50% overnight. Don't you believe me? Go check out by yourself. Do your own research.
