I created two BTC addresses for one 'main' account.

I send some BTC to one BTC address of this account.

When I do: bitcoind getaccountaddress main
I get:

But when I do: bitcoind getaddressesbyaccount main

It returns:

I see the address wich i used to send it to is there.
But when I check my balance of this account

its still zero.

Deze week was de digitale munt Bitcoin volop in de publiciteit. Niet vreemd, want sommige spaarders zijn zich doodgeschrokken van het idee dat overheden zomaar even uw spaargeld kunnen afromen als de banken in de problemen komen.

Dan zoek je naar bescherming en Bitcoin lijkt die bescherming te kunnen geven. Gevolg: de koers schoot omhoog van 50 euro naar 200 euro, maar helaas voor de bezitters ook weer terug naar 50 euro. Voorstanders roepen al dat dit het einde van het bankwezen is. Tijd voor een analyse en wat veldwerk.

Je kan op twee manieren naar Bitcoins kijken. Eerst als belegging. Lastig; Bitcoins geven geen rente en hebben geen industriële toepassing zoals goud. De waarde is 100 procent arbitrair. Een beetje 'wat de gek ervoor geeft' en dus als belegging zeer onzeker. Bovendien, als er meer van dit soort virtuele munten komen, zoals bijvoorbeeld Ripple, dan kan de waarde snel dalen.

Interessanter is de Bitcoin als betaalmiddel. Eerst open je een soort rekening, wallet genaamd. Niet bij een traditionele bank, maar op je computer of ergens op internet. Toegang tot je rekening heb je via een unieke sleutel, een getal van 34 cijfers. Vervolgens kun je goederen kopen en geld overmaken.

Ik heb het zelf geprobeerd. Het openen van de rekening is lastig, zeker als je weinig affiniteit hebt met computers. Het jargon is voor gewone mensen onbegrijpelijk. Maar, en daarin geef ik de Bitcoins-believers gelijk, je hoeft op geen enkele manier je echte identiteit prijs te geven. Dat zal het zeker interessant maken voor sommige gebruikers en straks ook voor de belastingdienst.

Míjn grootste bezwaar is de veiligheid. Als iemand jouw privé-sleutel kent, dan kan je rekening worden leeggeroofd. Dat lijkt mij een uitnodiging voor hackers. Het lijkt in die zin op de Chipknip. En anoniem zijn is een voordeel, maar óók een nadeel. Mocht je je privé-sleutel verliezen of vergeten, dan ben je de sigaar.

Is het een gevaar voor de bestaande banken? Laat ik voorop stellen dat innovaties als Skype, Whatsapp en Napster óók werden gebagatelliseerd. Maar financiële relaties tussen consumenten, met uitschakeling van traditionele tussenpersonen, gaan niet meer weg en dus moeten de banken op hun hoede zijn. Het overboeken gaat echt razendsnel en de kosten zijn heel laag.

De bitcoin is dus gecrasht, en alles gaat bij de bitcoin wat sneller, dus de koerswijziging gaat soms wel met tientallen procenten per dag open en neer. Maar maakt dat uit? Je kunt nog altijd in bitcoin betalen, nu ook bij datingsite OKCupid.

It says it contains 1 BTC at blockchain.info.
Which is right since I put 1 BTC on it before I saved the wallet.dat file on a USB stick and gave it as a gift to someone.

Now the guy tried loading it up... but it didnt show the correct balance of 1BTC, so he called me.

I have the same address in my QT client under: "Recceive coins".
And if I look this adress up at blockchain.info it shows 1BTC for this address.
But according to QT it has 0 btc on it.
Even if I try to dump the private key it says :
"Private key for address 16wJL3gZkrp2QpkszXFaa53twxodpT2kTP is not known (code -4)"

Do I need to rescan or whats going on?

Toch ongelofelijk hoeveel mensen (incl. de redactie van nu.nl) foutieve informatie posten en hun eigen conclusies trekken uit het niets.

Now since orders are streaming in, and are above everybodies expectations..
It makes me curious how you guys estimate the size of the first batch wich is gonna ship in October?
Is the first batch for example gonna contain hundred units, or maybe a thousand?
Also, when is BFL gonna ship the next batch, is this know yet as an raw estimate?

I hope BFL can help me and other people out by answering these questions.

We all see BFL doing a great job of answering questions on the forums wich I really aperciaite.

18 June 2012 I transfered 100 euros to my Mtgox EUR account.
Today I got a letter from my bank wich said that I recently made a transaction of 100 euros to a foreign Polish bank account which has been blocked. The made payment to the blocked account will be transferred back to my account in a short period of time.

Why would the majority of the people that have bitcoins spend them if they know bitcoins are becoming scarce (wich equals to more value) while time passes?
And to get the value of bitcoin raising you need a running economy right?
Doesn't these two things conflict with each other or am I misunderstanding something here?
