1  Bitcoin / Project Development / BitVault LiveCD - Bitcoin Secure Transactions Environment on: June 24, 2011, 05:10:28 PM
The recent security concerns related to Bitcoin gave me the idea to create a LiveCD where you can do safe transactions without worrying about being infected by the trojan infostealer.Coinbit or being spied by anyone.

Features :
-Use TrueCrypt to access your encrypted Wallet
-If you wish you can surf the web anonymously with JonDoFox
-You can use the client MegaIRC and join your favourite Bitcoin irc channel
-You can also use the calculator to help you in your transactions
-You can connect to the internet with OpenVPN (not yet implemented)
-Block-chain already pre-loaded inside BitVault - you can manually update it
-BitVault Wizard, easy step by step with almost no interaction from the user which install and configure
                                               the bitcoin client for you!

2  Other / Beginners & Help / BitVault - Bitcoin Secure Transactions Environment on: June 24, 2011, 05:55:27 AM
Since I cannot post this anywhere else yet...

Bitcoin recently became the target of Malware authors. This trojan infostealer.Coinbit will search for wallet.dat and then upload it via ftp. The attacker will then be able
to spend all of your bitcoins.

This is only the start of what's to come, I predict a much more widespread attack of this genre in the near future. This is why Bitcoin users and especially the one who are holding a large amount of coins need to worry about this issue and take every possible measures to secure their transactions environment.

The recent events gave me the idea to create BitVault LiveCD, with this LiveCD you will be able to do Bitcoin Transactions, chat on IRC, surf the web anonymously and soon to be able to use the OpenVPN client. Inside this secure environment, everything will be loaded inside your RAM and by using the BitVault Wizard you will be guided in the installation of the Bitcoin client and the process of decryption of your TrueCrypt container.

3  Other / Beginners & Help / Question about block chains and wallet.dat on: June 19, 2011, 03:03:52 AM
Is it safe to restore a wallet.dat into a fully loaded block chains by using -rescan option

Lets say I have two wallet, one for my savings and the other for day to day transactions.

I only used my savings wallet once for the creation, then I made a backup of it.

Now couple weeks or months later I want to restore it and buy some stuff.

Can I just place it in %appdata% where the block chains is already downloaded?
