2  Bitcoin / Electrum / ThomasV Signature Not Verifying for Mac v4.1.4 on: June 24, 2021, 11:32:26 PM
Hi All,
Forgive me as I rarely have used this forum outside of the collectibles section. I seldomly use Electrum but when I do and have been prompted to update I've always been able to do so by downloading the Mac OS version then verifying the signature of ThomasV then I go ahead and install. That's worked fine for the last several updates. Well it's been a while since I opened Electrum and when I did so I was on v4.1.2. I went to the confirmed electrum download page and noticed they're had been some changes such as the addition of SomberNight and things just looked a bit different or updated. No issues, however ThomasV's signature couldn't be verified and also the 4.1.4 dmg file couldn't either. Anyone else have this issue or am I missing something? I did do a search for the last couple of pages to not just post without looking to see if this was an issue for others and I didn't see any so forgive me if there is. I'd be extremely grateful if anyone would let me know if I'm just missing something or etc....Cheers in advance.

3  Economy / Collectibles / HAPPY NEW YEAR + ANNOUNCEMENT on: January 01, 2021, 03:14:51 AM
HNY to all. I also wanted to say thank you to all I've dealt with. I also wanted to specifically explain that for a physical collectibles owner who doesn't know as much about blockchain technology as I should this is without a doubt the greatest information and educational thread I've learned all year. Thanks to Krogoth and to all who has helped along the way but this thread has been OUTSTANDING for me personally! Cheers to all to a much better 2021!

If you own a physical collectible regardless if you ever plan to peel it you should ABSOLUTELY know this information like the back of your hand...

PS: Read it all as it gets better and better as it goes!

5  Economy / Collectibles / PSA: Sweeping +Snagging Forks from Physicals via a Ballet Card A+++ on: September 08, 2020, 02:16:37 AM
Hi All,
Please disregard if you know what you're doing and are comfortable with your way. Many of you know much more than I do here. So a while back around a year ago I recall messaging and reaching out to over a dozen members here and asked a simple question. I basically came to the realization that I had acquired quite a bit of a physical collection of Casascius and BTCC coins and yet I had never swept/peeled/redeemed any of them. Now I'm tech savvy but I'm not very blockchain savvy. So I reached out to a decent group of people who I thought could help. My question was simply if I ever needed to say "break glass incase of emergency" how do I most effectively and efficiently peel a physical coin or chip? etc....Not mad at a single soul here because...

A) the huge majority have never done it and I believed them all when they said woahhh good question brother I've never peeled any of my coins. I LOL'd at that because I hadn't either!

B) they simply had life going on and had to deal with that and if we met up or meet up sometime they'd be so more than willing to help me and show me how to do it as everyone I've ever met in person so far has been incredible!

So out of the dozen or so people I messaged I happened to hit up Coblee(Charlie Lee) because he always seemed accessible and he had sold me some nice coins prior. He said and I'll never forget this. Just use a Ballet wallet as it will sweep it all for you and they considered that when designing the Ballet wallets so you'll be fine. I have to be honest I kinda thought mehhh maybe he's just promoting his brother's company like I would my own brother. So I said thanks and continued asking around. The more I asked the more I got blown off but just because people were busy and they didn't have time to walk a blockchain idiot like me through all this lol. I didn't take it personally at all. I understood most has never peeled a coin before and they were just avid collectors with NO PLANS whatsoever to ever peel a coin. I LOVED that in many ways. Anyway a few days go by and I had acquired a few pre and post fork Satori chips to run my experiment! This went on for a few days. Then one night it hit me wait a minute I think Charlie is right here. I sprang up out of bed in the middle of the night and grabbed a pre-forked Satori chip. I had bought several first edition Ballet wallets and some regular ones as they came out. Anyway for this story I hadn't yet received my non first generation Ballet wallets but I was so interested in knowing how do I peel a very valuable Casascius or BTCC coin or chip it was an easy decision to use/sacrifice a first edition Ballet wallet just to see what would happen. Worst case scenario Id be out a pre-forked Satori and a first edition silver Ballet wallet. Well what happened next was absolutely MAGICAL. I scanned the QR code of the pre forked Satori and it with it being the Ballet wallet prompted me if I'd like to grab/snag all the forks some of which I had heard about and some I hadn't but since it was on an app for my iPhone I tapped on sure gimme all of them. So to make a long story short here I was blown away with how magical, easy and convenient it was to not only snag the main BTC off my Satori but it made getting all the forks, BCH, BSV, BTG, BCD, and arranged it all for me nice and neat. I then thought to myself okay well what if I wished to protect myself further by grabbing the BTC off by using Electrum paired with a HW wallet then do it and it worked the same with the added protection if you wanted to say peel a 5BTC 10BTC or 25BTC coin and the trusting the Ballet wallet to just snag the forks. I personally was so pleased Id just sweep it all with the Ballet wallet but I wanted to run the test for both. And you should as well, but my point is I was acquiring all these expensive physical coins and I wanted to understand and fully know how to sweep them if I ever wanted to or worse if I ever needed to in the event of a break glass in case of emergency.

So that's my story. I haven't been compensated for this write up and just simply wanted to share what I learned as I continued and still plan to continue to acquire physical collectibles. It would be foolish to not know how to extract maximum value as securely as you feel possible if you ever were in this situation! I appreciate you all reading. Thanks for your time and I hope this is helpful to and for many as I am happy to be here in this community!

8  Economy / Collectibles / Ways to Get More Traffic to BitcoinTalk.Org for all Casascius/Collectibles Sales on: November 17, 2019, 02:50:33 PM
Hi All,
I ran a quick search for "Casascius coins for sale" in Google just now and the top site/link results in this order was eBay, eBay again, AliExpress, Coin Telegraph, Casascius.com, Coinfirm.org, forum.shiresociety.com, and then finally a BitcoinTalk.org site link then more not so relevant sites much of it was duplicates and then 1 more of our site here. Although I'd have thought many people would automatically default to this site due to this place having such a deep history and is well known for many early and some recent sales between Casascius and other collectibles we need to figure out a better way to boost this site's profile whether it be organic SEO or even a small paid Adwords campaign(I don't see any Adwords campaigns because I use a adblocker but many people still don't use them and still see the Adwords campaigns). I'd be down to pitch in and crowd fund a small amount for us to run a Adwords campaign along with perhaps hiring some people who are decent to good at SEO in order to boost this site's rankings(it shouldn't be too expensive considering how niche this is) so anyone who ever runs a search just sees this site so perhaps we can get much more traffic of people with any and all types of collectibles to come here before going to useless sites like the ones listed above in hopes we could be the go to site for much more to all WTB, WTS, and WTT activity etc... Keep in mind I'm in Seoul right now so the Google results may vary for you out there depending on where you're at but just including this info incase it's relevant etc...Would love to get any and all feedback from you all as most of you have much more experience with this site and just the collectibles market in general. So I'm just brainstorming but would love any and all feedback. LMK your thoughts!

9  Economy / Collectibles / How do we find Cas coin redeemers before they redeem? on: September 21, 2019, 05:33:22 AM
Hi All,
So looking at the site rusbitcoinuser built which is at...https://casascius.ludvigart.com and it got me thinking is there any way to raise greater awareness for people who are considering redeeming? I mean just for an example in this month alone 2 series 2 5btc coins were redeemed not to mention a couple dozen other coins that I'm sure may have stirred some interest here for buying them. If they knew they could sell them here not only might we get some new people in here to unload their coins we might build this community even bigger for now, tomorrow and beyond. I personally would have been interested in one of those series 2 5btc coins. I'm sure some of you would have been interested in some of the others that have been redeemed in the last few months or even this year. So is there anyway we can get more people to find this site before they redeem? I mean if someone must redeem and just doesn't wanna deal with the headaches that's fine but we have an amazing setup here with plenty of reputable escrows that can mitigate their risks and everyone wins. Just thinking out loud here and would love any and all feedback! Thanks for reading. Looking forward to your replies.

13  Economy / Collectibles / [WTT] Series 1 5BTC BitNickel for a Series 2 5BTC BitNickel on: June 09, 2019, 03:07:49 AM
I currently have 2 5BTC Series 1 coins. Both are ICG graded and are in excellent condition especially for being 5BTC coins. I'm interested in trading 1 of these Series 1 coins for a good to great condition Series 2 coin. Details can all be discussed including where to meet or how to get the trade done. I'm currently based in the USA but travel quite often. If you're interested in a trade like this we can easily discuss travel and trading arrangements etc....Please send me a PM if you're interested and wish to discuss further.

14  Economy / Collectibles / 2012 Series 1 5BTC BitNickel "Error" vs the 2012 Series 2 5BTC BitNickel on: May 28, 2019, 12:59:18 AM
So according to the Elias Ahonen manual the Series 2 is a bit rarer. According to the best website tool to check for peeled Casascius coins the Series 2 is also still a bit rarer than the Series 1 coin as can be seen here....https://casascius.ludvigart.com/status/

My question is what are your thoughts on the the Series 1 vs Series 2 5BTC BitNickel coins? The Series 1 is an "error" coin so you can use that or don't use that in your thoughts and feedback. I plan to acquire both. My question here is what is more valuable in your mind and why? The more details and information provided the better and certainly more appreciated. I think both 5BTC coins are seriously undervalued and underrated. These are spectacular coins both series. Please give me your thoughts as I am looking so forward to getting every bit of feedback I can regarding both of these special beauties! Thanks in advance and again here is the book from Elias Ahonen link so you can compare to the best tool listed above that tracks everything in real time. The book Elias wrote while outstanding is a bit out of date. Thanks in advance.

Links....
Best tool I've found to track everything Casascius in real time: https://casascius.ludvigart.com/status/
Feel free to do just more than look at what I'm asking as this site offers it ALL from A-Z Casascius related! I only linked one function of the tool which provides endless functionality.

And here's the link to the Elias Ahonen book that is amazing but a bit outdated now. Still a very incredible book from a guy with a plethora of knowledge and a true physical collectible asset with a great reputation:
https://www.cryptonumist.com.

Apparently he has a new book coming out pretty soon which I recommend everyone buy if interested in any sort of physical coins!

Looking forward to any and all feedback and constructive criticism. Thanks for your time.
