1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mac users be careful on: February 01, 2019, 06:05:15 PM
Malware targetting Mac users has been discovered.

CookieMiner steals Google Chrome and Apple Safari browser cookies from the victim's computer and then uploads them to a remote server for login extraction information.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Mark Zuckerberg talking about blockchain on: January 31, 2019, 10:28:53 PM
It seems like the FB founder has nothing but positive things to say about blockchain technology.

There are rumours going around that he will release a cryptocurrency for use on WhatsApp, but given the privacy and censorship concerns over FB, I can't see many people going for it.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NEM is struggling on: January 31, 2019, 10:17:44 PM
We've heard about exchanges and crypto projects cutting staff, and to some extent, we all assumed the sh*t projects would be going down under these testing conditions.  But NEM, a somewhat underrated project, has announced it's running out of funding.

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Despite crypto winter, the industry is improving innovations and infrastructure on: January 30, 2019, 04:23:43 PM
Yes, it's tough out there, but regardless of price, the industry as a whole is continuing to build and develop.

I take this as an indication that there's value in crypto, and that the major projects will not go to zero.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Litecoin adding confidential transactions on: January 30, 2019, 04:10:27 PM
Maybe there are fans of LTC here, I'm not here to crap on people's portfolio choices, but the point of this post is to stimulate debate on what the point of LTC is.

For me, being the "Silver Bitcoin" isn't enough, and Charlie Lee thinks so too, as the LTC team are working to make LTC more relevant, including the adding of confidential transactions.

Is this a step in the right direction?

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The popularity of the Bittorrent token caused Binance problems on: January 29, 2019, 08:08:42 PM
Despite people slagging off the Bittorrent token, demand was such to cause system problems on Binance.

Looks like people are still interested in more, and quicker download times for, porn files.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Wozniak Sold his BTC at the height of the bull run on: January 29, 2019, 08:01:21 PM
Apple's Wozniak said he sold all his BTC when it hit $20k because he didn't want the constant stress of watching the price movement.

The cynic in me feels he maybe had access to insider info

8  Economy / Speculation / Regardless of the continuing bear market, the fundamentals keep improving on: January 28, 2019, 07:38:54 PM
Yes the market has fallen again.

But us hodlers need to know that the infrastructure is continuing to improve.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / State-Backed Iranian Cryptocurrency - Is this the end for all other cryptos? on: January 28, 2019, 07:34:04 PM
The Iranian regime is looking at state-sponsored crypto as a way to get around the US sanctions.

This measure has far-reaching implications from the perspective that central bank cryptocurrencies/state-backed cryptocurrencies hold the potential to end all others.

Is this a step towards the end of BTC and the rest?

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Blockchain Censorship In China on: January 27, 2019, 03:01:19 PM
In 2017, China imposed restrictions on ICOs and fiat to crypto trading. The knock on effects forced exchanges to move to more crypto-friendly locations, and of course, ICOs have disappeared in China although it must be said that P2P crypto trading has flourished as a result.

However, authorities have recently announced a raft of further crypto restrictions. What does this mean for crypto in China?

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Binance CEO Paints a Rosy Picture on: January 25, 2019, 11:12:33 PM
Changpeng Zhao says that the crypto space is in a better place than in 2018.

Is he reporting on the green shoots of recovery, or is this hot air intended to keep his exchange solvent?

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Update on IOTA Hack From Last Year on: January 25, 2019, 11:07:54 PM
Europol have arrested a suspect accused of stealing EUR10million of IOTA.

Given the ease with much value can be moved, will the funds ever be recovered?

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Steemit appoint new boss on: January 24, 2019, 05:53:03 PM
Steemit appoints a new boss, hopefully, they'll do something about returning the platform to its former glory, because as things stand, it's a joke.

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Another Mainstreamer Joins the Crypto Industry on: January 24, 2019, 05:49:54 PM

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Good news from Japan on: January 24, 2019, 05:42:17 PM
We know that Asia is crypto-mad, and this article shows that Japan may well lead the way to mass-adoption through retail payments.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Update on Cryptopia Attack on: January 23, 2019, 11:06:16 PM
The New Zealand exchange was hacked recently, but the lack of updates and slow response have harmed Cryptopia greatly.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Blockchain Taking Out Credit Agencies on: January 23, 2019, 10:54:43 PM
Looks like there's nothing blockchain can't do.

Surely, eliminating the middleman is good, and if people can access financial services without a credit agency, then we as consumers win.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Hyperledger is different from the rest on: January 22, 2019, 05:46:34 PM
If there's one thing blockchain is rightly accused of, it's speculative hype.

Hyperledger is different, the project is focussed purely on the underlying tech.  This is good for the space because it demonstrates to non-crypto enthusiasts that there is more to blockchain than hype.

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Soulja Boy says BTC is done on: January 22, 2019, 05:38:48 PM
Washed-up rapper making FUD on BTC.

He was previously into it, even releasing a track called Bitcoin.  I think his change of heart reflects the general sentiment of the market.  If you're still hodling, are you smart with strong hands, or simply deluded?

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / $5million Airdrop Mistake from Coinnest on: January 22, 2019, 05:28:46 PM
Korean exchange mistaken airdrops BTC instead of We Game tokens.  The loss is valued at over $5million.

As responsible crypto investors, especially with recent exchange hacks, we are responsible for protecting ourselves.  Is it right for Coinnest to ask for the BTC back?
