1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoind vs Bitcoin-cli Command Line Functions on: August 19, 2014, 12:19:37 AM
What is the difference when using the command line functions between bitcoind and bitcoin-cli?

Do all the commands work on bitcoin-cli?

I would like to rescan the blockchain for any missing wallet transactions.  Can I use bitcoin-cli or should I use bitcoind?

3  Economy / Speculation / April-Fool's-Day Rally on: April 01, 2013, 04:10:15 PM
Certainly an historic day for Bitcoin...

the only question is, "Who are the fools?"

Is it the buyers or the sellers?

Time will tell.  Perhaps, it may take 3 to 5 years to know that answer. Any thoughts about when we'll know?

5  Bitcoin / Meetups / Washington, DC Bitcoin Users Group on: November 02, 2012, 05:28:13 PM
All are invited to our November 6th users group meeting at the Northside Social in Clarendon (Arlington, VA), off the Orange Line Metro.  The meeting starts at 7 PM, and parking is generally not a problem.

The theme of this month's meeting is looking "under the hood" of Bitcoin.  Is it really just a "decentralized, distributed notary service" as one of the developers puts it?  What do miners actually do, and what's the cryptography behind Bitcoin all about?

Feel free to join our group, and please RSVP if you intend to come: http://www.meetup.com/BitcoinDC/

If you have any other topics of interest you would like to discuss, please PM me or leave me a message on the meetup page.

See you Tuesday Wink

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Upgrading Client from 0.6.2 to 0.6.3 on: June 26, 2012, 01:50:47 PM
I just recently installed 0.6.2 in Windows 7 (64 bit).  If I am going to upgrade to 0.6.3, do I need to uninstall 0.6.2 and then install 0.6.3?
Do I need to download the entire block chain again?

Can I just install 0.6.3 over 0.6.2 without having to download the block chain again?

What about my wallet?  Will the upgrading process overwrite my existing wallet.dat file?
