I don't remember much, but I drank a bunch of Jack Daniels, and when I woke up, I had a lot less money in my pocket.
Jack Daniels must have stole it!
This is obviously all bitcoin's fault!

Hello.
I love Bitcoinduit. I love what they have made, and I've made and played games there. I've won many BTC there.
This message is for those who set up new rounds there.
Your fees are too high.
I know bitcoinduit takes 2%. That's cool, they deserve it. But if you, as a round maker, take more than 2%, I won't play your game.
So, if the round's fees are over 4% total, I won't play.
You put in the first bet. If you do any promotion at all, your are going to get paid on that first bet. Take that as your fee.
I ran a 0% fee game yesterday (A_New_Hope), and I matched the first 4 entries, AND I matched entry #16, and I STILL made money. It's currently the highest total payout round.
Reduce your fees, round creators. No one likes a greedy game operator.

http://bitcoinduit.com/game/viewRound.php?id=A_New_HopeYou read that right! ZERO host fees. I will MATCH the first 4 entries. Get in and WIN! Bitcoinduit does take 2%, I can't change that, but I am taking NOTHING for myself. With the recent price crash, you need to multiply your BTC any way you can.

Hello. I am an avid "doubler" / ponzi player. There are several rounds active right now, that you might want to give some attention to: http://bitcoinsurf.net/kingofthemountain/ - weeklong round ends tomorrow, but the last person in gets the remaining pot, so several people tend to get in at the end, therefore paying off earlier players. http://www.multiplymybtc.com/ - round just started a few hours ago http://bitcat.ch/ - very active game - round started 2/5 hours ago. All three of these games have paid me out, week after week. The operators are honest and active on the forums. I can recommend them without hesitation. What other doubler / ponzi / pyramid games do you like?

Hello. Today I was playing around trying to make a self-contained USB Bitcoin client. The bitcoin executable, wallet.dat & blockchain would all live on the USB stick. I'm on a Mac at home. I have it working on the mac. I use a shell script to launch the OSX bitcoin client with the -datadir parameter, to the datadir on the USB stick using a relative path. USB dir structure: root * bin -> Bitcoin_osx.app * data -> all the bitcoin data files and wallet.dat -> Run_Bitcoin_OSX.command The "Run_Bitcoin_OSX.command" is: #!/bin/sh echo $0; DIR=`dirname "$0"` echo $DIR cd "$DIR" exec bin/Bitcoin_osx.app/Contents/MacOS/bitcoin -datadir=./data I need to try this approach for Linux (should work) and Windows (I have no idea) Next steps: * On Monday, at work, on my Linux desktop, I'll get Linux working * Somehow get access to a Windows desktop (I guess I have friends with Windows at home) and try that * Once it's all working cross platform, try some cross platform encryption. Suggestions / Ideas / I'm totaly wrong?

My buddy is just now getting into Bitcoin. Unfortunately, he is a Windows user. I don't use Windows at all, and I don't have access to a Windows machine, so I can't really try stuff out in advance for him. Is there a thread or an article about "best practices" for securely using the bitcoin client on Windows that I can point him to? Is it as easy as putting the wallet.dat on an encrypted USB stick and making sure your anti-virus is up to date? He's not a super computer user, but he's reasonably savvy. He can follow instructions without messing them up. "Don't use Windows" is an answer I already tried with him. Thanks!

Hello, all. I'd like to get the opinion of this forum.
If I were to spend $700 on a mining rig and get 600 MH/s out of it, and get it online in a week from today, would it pay for itself eventually?
The mining calculators say no, because they assume the difficulty will forever go up. But the difficulty has to stop and level off at some point, right? At some point, new miners will stop coming in, or current miners leaving, or shutting down part of their rigs will match new miners coming in. Right?
I suppose the $ value of BTC could shoot up, and that would definitely help. It could also go down.
Is it just stupid to buy a $700 new rig now? I just want to break even, without factoring in selling the used hardware later.
BTW, I currently run 1 5830 at 300 MH/s. But that was easy, I just stuck a new 5830 in my existing computer. I'm proposing buying a whole new rig. And the $700 comes from what I specced out at NewEgg. Closed case system. I can't have TOO much fan noise and hardware just sitting out.
Thanks for your opinion.

2 PCIe 1x extender cables arrived today at my house (USA) from Hong Kong. I bought them at 9mart. http://www.9mart.com/products/2-Lots-PCI-Express-Card-Extender-Cable-PCI%252dE-1X-Riser-Adapter.html is the product. New in unopened package. I could not wait for shipping from Hong Kong, so I bought some closer to home, therefore, I don't need these. I will ship US Mail to anywhere in the US. Don't wait for shipping from China, get them in 2 days or less! I paid $9 for the pair. Make me an offer - I will take BTC or PayPal. thanks

While chatting in my mining pool's IRC, I am constantly surprised to find that many miners, the foundation on the bitcoin ecosystem, don't even use BTC for anything. I'm a miner. I'm a speculator. I'm a merchant (well, I have some stuff for sale on http://bitcoinharbor.com/). I found out about bitcoin about a month ago and i love it. I have 132 transactions in my day-to-day wallet (my mining income goes to my secure wallet). Mostly, those transactions are gambling, because that's what I find fun. How many transactions do YOU have, and what "kind" are they? Purchases, gambling, donations, etc?
