61  Other / Off-topic / It must be nice on: March 10, 2014, 04:56:55 PM
this morning (like 6 hours ago) I contacted three of the vendor who promote themselves here advertising equipment for sale - ship immediately etc...

what a bunch of liars - not a single one has even returned an email or pm yet.

gee - it must be nice.
62  Bitcoin / Mining support / Bitmain S1's and my own private pool on: March 09, 2014, 04:30:44 PM
hey folks I'm new to mining and have a few S1's on the way - I'm going to take a risk and try to find and mine my own coin instead of joining a pool - no risk no reward right?

how difficult or easy is it to create my own little pool of miners using the Bitmain S1's

oh - my pool will be 1800 Gh/s - if that matters - 10 S1's

thanks in advance

Jeff
63  Economy / Services / who (in the U.S) wants to build this miner for me.... on: March 07, 2014, 05:08:30 PM
Ok - so I've been doing a lot fo reading about mining equipment and I own a Bitmain S1 Dual Blade but now I'm ready to move up.

I've read here that someone else built the following and he (or she..not sure) believe it will run over 2 GH/S so I'm soliciting opinions and would like someone to build it for me. I'm sure I'm capabale since I was swapping boards back in the early 90's when the only NIC was arcnet but I have NOT had my hands 'seriously' in hardware for 20 years although I was swapping boards in some office PC's yesterday but it's nothing like building one of these rigs.

I'll pay to have it built - order what you tell me to have it all sent you your place - have you build and test it then ship it to me. If it goes well I may come back to you for additional computers. You SHOULD have lot of posts here and a great reputation. We'll need to talk on the phone and you MUST be in Canada or the U.S.

If you're in the Northeast, U.S. or Mid Atlantic area that's even between I live near Newark, De.

here's what I'd like to have built.

water cool the quad 7970's

AMD FX-8120
Asus M5A97 r2.0
Gigabyte ATI 6990 (x2)
Wifi card
128GB SSD
Coolermaster 1200w 80gold
Diskdrive (for driver CD's)
Corsair 600T

thoughts, opinions, takers?

thanks in advance...
64  Bitcoin / Group buys / Scam Research and companies I've uncovered as scammers on: March 07, 2014, 01:27:04 PM
I'm pretty quiet around here because I'm a newby but I am the CIO of a mid sized investment company and have been an IT Professional for nearly 40 years now and I've seen pretty much everything. I'm also a part time hacker buster and bitcoin miner.

Like many of you I'm quite interested in the new generation of machine in the 2 TH/s speed range and what's available because I intend to buy one and I've done my research.

In terms of companies that really appear to be scammers - at the very top of the list is:

http://www.xtrememiners.net/ : Although no one has proven they are complete scammers, no one to date has proven they're legitimate either - I have communicated with them and asked for any shred of evidence to prove they're legit and have gotten nothing - in fact email to them started bouncing last week.

next on my list is:
http://minerscube.com/ - they're semi responsive but I have repeatedly asked for a physical address and have to date received nothing. In addition they list BTC as the selling price of their equipment. This is utterly stupid because as we all know the value varies based on elements out of our control - I think it just goes to show how stupid these particular scammers are.

A possible third is:
https://www.bitkeylab.com/ - I've been communicating with someone there named Chris and he has been very responsive right up until the point I started to 'vet' him and asked for a reference or the name of his banker or anyone they've done business with - since then SILENCE!!! - I could be wrong and I hope I am, but do your due diligence.

The last one that concerns me somewhat is:
http://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/

They seem very legitimate and even have a forum but complaints are starting to popup from people who have asked for their money back on the new X-3 and have yet to receive a refund. To my knowledge they have not delivered a single piece of equipment yet to anyone in the world - I could be wrong and please correct if I am wrong and googlemaps cannot find their address either.
801, Building 2, Huangduguangchang, Yitian Road, Futian District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, P. R. China, Postcode: 518048

I hope I'm wrong about them since they're my fallback position if bitkeylab turns out to be a scammer.

I know that www.minersource.net is selling their equipment and minersource.net is a very legitimate company - I know because I've purchased from them and they're great to deal with, but I do have some lingering suspicions about Black Arrow at least until they've delivered something.

just my humble .02
