Launch Announcement is here, check it out, thanks!

Expanse (EXP) - Fair Mining, Fair Launch, No ICO, Based on Ethereum.

Pre Announcement:

Expanse (EXP) is based on Ethereum and designed to be fair for miners. We will have fair distribution, a fair launch, and no ICO.

The team is being led by Christopher Franko of the Franko collective, and James Clayton of the Cryptocurrency Collectors Club, along with other coders, marketers, and those skilled at art and publications in the crypto world. There will be a small staged multi-sig reserve to pay for development. This is to ensure long term commitment to development with an increased incentive for the team.

Why make it? Ethereum is a fascinating project and we think it would be very interesting to experiment with some key differences, while also seeking to simplify user experience as greatly as possible.

We ask that you consider mining and perhaps joining the community, everyone is welcome. Help us make this fair version of Ethereum something special and unique, and perhaps even fun and profitable!

More information coming soon -- Franko has already created the build and various possibilities are being discussed. If you want to join the discussion, send a PM  with your email address and I can add you to our slack. Thanks!

Here is the short version for those that just want the basics:

This is an asset for traders, investors, and those seeking to actually use HZchronos for crypto currency promotions and advertisements. No promotions will be scheduled or start for the first initial two weeks after the launch - starting now -- HZchronos is purchased with Horizon HZ, and you can purchase Horizon on both Poloniex and Bittrex. To purchase HZchronos you must use the Horizon decentralized exchange, and the HZ purchased from either Poloniex or Bittrex. The official website has the download links for the wallets and also contains eight tutorial videos explaining how to use all the key elements of Horizon, so feel free to watch those if you are new to decentralized exchanges, or Horizon in particular.

Here is the long version for those that want all the details:

HZchronos is a service asset based on units of time (1 unit = 1 hour of promotions), they are purchased on the Horizon decentralized exchange. The purpose of HZchronos is to be a trade asset that is backed with real world use, as they can be traded in for advertising time and promotions in the Cryptocurrency Collectors Club on Facebook, with additional incentives depending on how much time is reserved. They must be used in 24 hour blocks, or 24 chronos at a time minimum, and scheduling is done on a first come first serve basis. Nothing offensive or illegal is allowed, no scams, and it must have some connection to crypto currency. Advertisements & Promotions will be pinned to the top of the club forum for as long as scheduled. There are no refunds, and buyer agrees to to accept the risk for any unlikely reasons that this asset could fail in the future.

Why should you be interested in HZchronos? First of all, for specualtive reasons this asset is designed for trading. Extremely rare with only 17500 units total. All of them will be put up for trade and none held in reserve. If they sell out then traders can determine the price as they see fit. As units are turned in for promotions, they are removed from the market into a “burn” account, and the supply will effectively be reduced over time as they are used. The Cryptocurrency Collectors Club is one of the best groups for cryptos out there, with many active developers and traders, so this is a very valuable group to connect to.

Update: While I prefer to make this as long term as possible, I also want to balance it out with those that want quick profits. I have talked to the community and the consensus seems to be that any unsold colored coins after two weeks will be sent to the burn address. This way the traders control the supply entirely, regardless if 10% sells, 50%, or 100% - the caveat to this would be if for example 50% of the tokens sell, that is less funding and I would lower the long term commitment to the project exactly proportionally, but I will leave way more than enough time for these to be used.

100% of the tokens sell, 2.5 years redeemable
50% of them sell, 1.25 years redeemable ... and so on, so this way the length of the commitment to the project is determined by the demand, as well as the starting marketcap. Thanks!

On April 27th, Midnight Central Standard Time, I will remove any unsold tokens and send to the "burn" address, and then promotions and scheduling will start, and the overall time frame for the project will be determined based on the results of the sale.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / mBTC@20 Thoughts on mBTC for ATMs and mass Bitcoin adoption by the public on: March 31, 2014, 05:33:08 PM
Long time reader, but just recently signed up for Bitcointalk.org. Fairly early Last year I got started in cryptos when I became interested in finding some alternative means to take payment for items to ship overseas, without constantly being scammed by Paypal and Credit card chargebacks. That led me to discover Bitcoin, and instantly I realized that this would replace money orders and even credit cards, and many financial institutions over time. So, I have been obsessed with Bitcoin and Cryptos ever since.

To get to the point, I think the biggest "problem" Bitcoin has is that most people are not mathematicians and experts at understanding divisibility and satoshis. They are only capable of looking at Bitcoin as a single expensive unit. I am certain of this, you can just talk to people that are not experts, and even those that are look at "A Bitcoin" as being somewhere between 400-1400 usd value, depending on the markets and price manipulations under way at the time.

I have quizzed many people and ask them the same basic question, "What sounds more safe to invest in, mBTC at 20 USD, or BTC at 1400 USD?" - Every single time they will say that obviously mBTC is a much safer, or a more wise investment. Even after I explain it to them, they still agree that mBTC sounds MUCH safer! (mBTC is just a 1/1000th of a BTC, so that would be around .46 cents USD right now)

Before the massive amount of ATMs get placed around the world, I really think it is an extremely good idea to switch to mBTC, for everything other than perhaps trading. (or have options in all wallets and try to present it as mBTC rather than BTC to the general public) In this manner, a Bitcoin can be sort of like a $1000 bill, once it returns to the correct value at least. A consumer can buy 20 mBTCs and feel like they have a SIGNIFICANT investment in Bitcoin, which they would with a bunch of Satoshis, but they would not "feel" like they have it.

This simple change would revolutionize Bitcoin expansion, in my view. This stuff is all psychological at the end of the day. Brains take shortcuts, bigger numbers are scary, smaller numbers feel safe. Just how it is.

Here is a link for a community I started some time about mBTC@20, if you think it is a good idea let me know, if you think it is a bad idea, then I can tell you I most likely know the exact range for the price of Bitcoin for the next few years. 400-1400, that is it.
