2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Explanation needed on Proof of Idle - Optimal Mining Strategy on: July 09, 2014, 03:18:54 AM
Hi there,

I just cam across this concept on Proof of Idle. I am not technical enough to grasp the concept.

Can someone explain how this would work.

Here are some links:

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Need] Guide to building a MAC Wallet on: May 25, 2014, 02:51:48 AM

Thanks
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Help] Strange noise only when mining with SGMiner / x11 on: May 24, 2014, 12:09:39 PM
Hey guys,

This one beats me and I have no idea what can be the problem.

I am running on Giga 7950 GPU and it works and runs smoothly. I have tried mining different types of Algo on this and everything runs smoothly.

When I run Scrypt, N-Scrypt, Keccak etc on my miner, I get a normal sound from the rig. Please see audio file below while on Scrypt, N-Scrypt, Keccak etc:

http://vocaroo.com/i/s1JtVurpH3Da

Now when I switch on SGMiner and mine x11, I get a weird buzzing noise that is louder than the actual fan noise. See audio file below. If I close the SGMiner / x11 miner, the noise goes off right away. The temp and fan speed are perfect in SGMiner and its runs and hashes just fine, without any HW errors, but the buzz is annoying and difficult to sleep in the night cause of this.

http://vocaroo.com/i/s1IpBeraD64m

I tried playing with the config settings and tried changing almost everything I could (temp, intensity, auto & gnu fan, etc.) to see if I can eliminate the buzz noise. No luck so far.

This is my current setting:

Quote
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
color 0a
sgminer -k darkcoin -o URL:PORT -u USER -p x -I 20 -g 1 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune 20 --thread-concurrency 24000 --temp-cutoff 95 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-target 75 --api-listen --api-allow W:127.0.0.1

Note: The noise does reduce a bit when I lower the Intensity to 13, but I don't see why the buzz should be present in the first place and something that does not happen with other Algo.
Note: the audio is recorded from the same place on the rig.

Thanks in advance.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Can CGWatcher restart your CGMiner when there is Hardware failure? on: May 22, 2014, 09:04:29 PM
I was running my CGMiner alongside CGwatcher. For a short while there was HW errors and I was wondering if there is a way in which CGWatcher restarts the CG Miner after few hardware failures?

Thanks
