1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / FIRO gossip req on: October 04, 2021, 05:40:20 PM
Hi everybody...

I have recently seen an interview with Aram Jivanyan and I found him a reassuring and competent guy, strongly focused on his work more than jet set of crypto social life. So I have discovered FIRO rebranding of ZCOIN..

I would like to know more about this rebrading.. is it a caesura because of the distance of the today protocols from original ZCOIN and its protocol, or is there more? Any change in governance and/or organization structure rearrangement? Something uncommon or strange worth to be known?

So I'm asking for any gossip, if any, because I would like to understand if it's a crypto worth my attention ('cause attention = time and time is always missing)

Smiley

thanks!
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / 10 minutes block interval and network modelling on: April 30, 2021, 09:25:37 AM

Hi everybody

as far as I have understood, setting BTC block interval to 10 minutes, is a way to accomplish two result:

1) to give enough time to the decentralized network to converge to a "common" (even if intrinsically yet imperfect)  status
2) fast confirmation, intended as rapidity to "bury" your transaction under a given number of blocks

Infact in Mastering Monero 2nd Edition chapter 10 Antonopoulos writes:
"
Bitcoin’s block interval of 10 minutes is a design compromise between fast confirmation times (settlement of transactions) and the probability of a fork. A faster block time would make transactions clear faster but lead to more frequent blockchain forks, whereas a slower block time would decrease the number of forks but make settlement slower
"

I wonder... why 10 minutes? I mean: maybe Satoshi just tried it and luckily it has worked...but then, maybe with rising academic interest, has a network modelling ever tried to quantitatively check that number?
I'm thinking of a someway stochastic model with "era" parameters: where randomness would be given by network topology/adjacencies structure and computing power distribution curves, and "era" parameters would represent average performances (computational and networking) in a given period of time.
IMHO It would be interesting to check if, given a model, the most effective block interval time is function of just "era" parameters or if any constraints are introduced by structure's statistical shape..

thanks!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Monero Addresses Cheatsheet on: November 15, 2020, 08:42:34 AM
Hi everybody

While studying Monero thanks to great Mastering Monero (https://masteringmonero.com/free-download.html) and Zero to Monero Second Edition (https://www.getmonero.org/library/Zero-to-Monero-2-0-0.pdf) I have felt the need to summarize keys and addresses type, relations between them, their scopes.... after iterating it paper&pencil, I have thought creating a PDF could have been of general interest. So, here it is:

Hope it can be useful to you as feel, and of course any feedback appreciated

5  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Quadratic Payments in less than ideal context on: June 10, 2020, 04:50:39 PM
Hi everybody!

honestly speaking I don't know if I'm posting in the right forum board, in case please pardon me.
Some months ago I knew and "fell in love" with Quadratic Payments thanks to a Vitalik's post on his blog, so I have spent some lockdown time playing on the topic: my main interest has been to investigate QPs behavior with generic marginal probabilities (not constant ones I mean), here my notes:

https://medium.com/@baro77/quadratic-payments-with-constrained-probabilities-b40facba716

I have read about governance and funding use-cases, and my educated guess is that a general-enough QP incentives system is worth being investigated in search of many other crypto-world-applications.
That's why I have started this 3D and I would like to listen your opinions/ideas

Thanks, bye!
6  Local / Progetti / Lista partecipazione italiana al mondo cryptocurrency on: April 17, 2020, 02:27:38 PM
ciao a tutti

Grazie!
Ciao
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / SHA256 output as mathematical function of input? on: October 17, 2019, 03:26:34 PM
Hi everybody! Is it possible to express SHA256 output bits as MATHEMATICAL function of input bits?
If so, which is the minimum subset of needed mathematical operators? Over which numeric set (e.g. Real or Complex field instead of binary to exploit more freedom degrees)?  Any news about it already out there on the Internet?

Thanks!
