6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ilikehams's BTC-e USD->PP or Interac for Canadians (101% Payout) on: April 08, 2013, 02:46:33 AM
First off, I'm entirely ripping off cptmooseinc thread over here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=153944.0 because it's a great idea and service I could have used many times. So full credit to him and yes we exchanged PM's. I'm not looking to suck up business from him and I'd prefer to do business in Canada only.

Example: You give me $100 BTC-e code, I give you $101 PPUSD. You give me $1000 BTC-e Code, I give you $1010 PPUSD.

OR

You give me A 100 usd BTC-e code, I give you the equivalent in Canadian funds as calculated in the moment on XE.com PLUS 1%
right now 100 USD= 101.675 CAD , so I'd pay you out 101.68 + 1.02 = 102.70 via paypal OR Interac email money transfer. As you know Interac email money transfer cannot be reversed unless they are unclaimed.

With Paypal I can do USD or CAD. With Interac email I can do CAD only. I have a full Scotiabank commercial account and while there are Interac restrictions in place, I doubt I'll exceed them from this business model. I'd prefer to keep transactions at the 1000 CAD level or below.

You shouldn't have to pay fees to get your funds out of BTC-e!

Just PM me if you're interested in exchanging and give the following information:

1.) How much BTC-e USD you want to exchange and what currency you want to receive (USD or CAD) if you want PayPal. Interac is CAD ONLY.
2.) Your Paypal email address or the email address you want your Interac money transfer sent to.
3.) Email address you want a confirmation sent to after I send funds. (if different from your others).

Personally I think PP is a terrible idea and I suggest AGAINST it. Interac money orders cannot be reversed and are safe and easy without a foreign quasi bank (Paypal) sticking their nose into our business. But I know some people depend on it so it's offered.

I will try and handle these as quick as possible with my availability mostly being from 0800-2300 EST. Once I receive your request, I will respond with an e-mail address to send your BTC-e code to. Once I confirm the funds, I will send 101% of the value using the methods we agreed on.

DO NOT SEND BTC-e CODES VIA PM ON THIS BOARD. IT IS NOT SAFE IN MY OPINION.

I don't offer any other methods at this point though I would be willing to send cash or silver via registered mail at your risk.

Current Paypal Funds Available for Trade: $1000
Current Interac Funds Available for Trade $ 2000 daily

I will update the above values constantly as I balance what I can send via Interac.

I am in EXACTLY the same boat as cptmooseinc and I will benefit from having this as my resource for depositing to BTC-e. Thus we both profit.
7  Economy / Goods / Silver Coins and collectibles on: March 21, 2013, 02:07:17 PM
I have an assortment of silver collectibles that need to find new homes here shortly. I am open to offers. I will be adding to this thread over the next few days with collectible coins and silver pieces as I photo and post. I accept BTC and LTC but have quoted dollars. Shipping will be quoted on an individual basis, escrow welcome over 40 dollars.

This is a Very nice piece, it's an uncirculated 1882 US Silver dollar with the O over S mintmark, identified as VAM 3. I'm asking a quite reasonable 215 Dollars for this item.

These make a really nice display piece, they are unusual and due to their mass melting not always easy to find. Each bar weighs 3grams of Sterling silver designed with one of the great ships of history on it. The backs of each bar carry the ship name and silver fineness. I'm asking a quite reasonable 200 dollars. These bars carry no signs of toning and the display case is in really nice shape too. I had these on my executive desk before I retired.

I have two of Asus EN7600GS SILENT/HTD with the 256M DDR2 @ 800MHz - 15 dollars each, (buy the pair and I'll give you an SLI cable -lol)

They are super helpful for mom and pop type systems where you just want something that looks and works better than integrated garbage from older Intel systems. They draw 32 watts at max load so safe for even most non standard PCI-e implementations power wise and don't require a PSU upgrade on those crappy dells. They use a silent aluminum cooler, they work quite well.

9  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] LGA775 Motherboard - found - closed on: October 03, 2012, 03:32:10 PM
I'm looking for an LGA775 Motherboard, prefer support for DDR2 as I have a bunch, also prefer ATX vs mATX. Have an E8400 that needs a home for a charity donation I'm making.

Need price shipped to Canada. If you have something decent let me know.

Edit: I gave up and bought a new board , was cheaper way than everything else offered. thanks to all.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Discussion, establishment of a Bitcoin Credit Union on: September 11, 2012, 03:30:52 PM
First off, not up for trolling in this thread, keep it related to the topic at hand, leave your Mathew, Pirate, GLBSE etc discussions  some place else. Seriously. I ask moderation in advance to enforce local rules in the thread and I ask participants to call for moderation of the trolls. That doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't post strong opinions for or against the concept, those are learning tools. Just stay on topic. Please. Thank you.

I think the community has changed a bit recently and while many are still attracted to the wild west ways of BTC finances I think it's gotten to the point where some people would give up their "total quasi anonymity" (yeah I know) for a safe, secure suite of BTC related financial services issued under one roof. To this end, I've been doing some groundwork on what might be involved in establishing a Credit Union for Bitcoin users.

Why a Credit Union and not a bank? Well it comes down to how and what a Credit Union is and who it's controlled by.

Quote
From Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_union

A credit union is a member-owned financial cooperative, democratically controlled by its members, and operated for the purpose of promoting thrift, providing credit at competitive rates, and providing other financial services to its members.[1][2][3]

Many credit unions also provide services intended to support community development[4] or sustainable international development on a local level,[5] and could be considered community development financial institutions.

Worldwide, credit union systems vary significantly in terms of total system assets and average institution asset size,[6] ranging from volunteer operations with a handful of members to institutions with several billion dollars in assets and hundreds of thousands of members.[7]

Generally a Credit Union can be legitimately governed by a board elected by members. Each member gets one vote, period, whether they are a large or small depositor. Everyone buys one voting share.

Basically, I'm a retired CxO type IT guy from the financial services sector here in Canada. I've worked as VP and SVP at merchant banking organizations that moved and loaned billions of dollars annually in Canada, the US and UK. That isn't the entire world and yes I'm aware of my blind spots. This is why these discussions need to be open to an entire community , a pool of minds. So far I've called in as favours discussions with Chartered Accountants , CPAs and lawyers from my previous business contacts in the US and Canada who specialize in the financial services sector (merchant banking and personal banking) . These have been fruitful and I've had many "AHA" moments. I've also realized as a result this isn't a small undertaking.

Essentially what I propose is that we start building an Open Source documentation set that can be used in development of Credit Unions for the BTC community. To this end I'm looking for volunteers to form a steering committee that can start flushing out a project plan for getting the first Unions established in Canada and the US as true legal entities.

So, I'm looking for people with backgrounds in finance and systems relating to personal banking who are willing to put in the kind of effort it would take to build a transparent and open source documentation set for the foundation of a Credit Union.

When things are set up and rolling with people in place on the steering committee (and a reliable non thieving treasurer - in fact I have a Chartered Accountant who would do this job for the fun of it and has no issue disclosing their contact details, this is what they do) I'd like to head to out to the community and see if we can get some interest in donations to get WRITTEN opinions regarding legality and accounting that can be published on a wiki for all to see. Written opinions by professional firms are expensive but in my opinion needed so that we may have something from which to refer when building this Credit Union structure.

Post what you know, your level of interest, how much time you could give to a venture like this and bit about what qualifications you bring to the table. My hope is then when we're finished "steering" we could turn this over to a new committee of "builders" and get it done. This is the ugly part of the process, like setting up a dance committee but let's get it done.  If it can't be done within the community as it now exists, this too can be published so that anyone in the future can see a better time for launching something like this.

Any coins garnered to this cause (when the time is right) will be accounted for by a real public accountant with full open records. Documents and meeting minutes will be published. This whole thing needs to be super transparent to capture as much knowledge as possible. I really hope we can build a template that can be used in most jurisdictions for building BTC Credit Unions.

Let's make a little history that doesn't have "hacked" or "scammed" built into it.
11  Economy / Auctions / The Bitcoin Auction Game - thread locked on: August 30, 2012, 02:44:55 PM

I noticed he made up some imaginary user from the internet to try and get out of his own backfired scheme. So he shill bid his game , did he also try and take the bidder in the thread for .03?

Such an obvious scam.
12  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Insults for Sale .01 BTC on: June 23, 2011, 04:25:03 PM
I have seen all kinds of scams, schemes and overpriced shenanigans for sale on the forum. I am generally an amiable fellow, given more to laughter than anything else however I have developed a repertoire of insults after being on the interwebs for such a long time.

For the princely sum of .01 I will insult you with a well crafted sentence or two. If you wish a longer roasting, supply .05 and I will go on at some length about your failings.

If you would like to partake in this process, please remit your payment to 12hSyF6Ja1XS5eHwAtThdhtCKUrgix2equ

As to those who may disapprove, i have only this to say; "If I want any lip from you, I'll rattle my zipper" .

Warmest Regards,
Ilikeham
