1  Economy / Services / I'm a coder and designer and available for hire. on: October 01, 2020, 09:52:51 AM
I am available for projects for the time being and looking to take on design and development responsibilities.

Areas i specialise in include websites, UX/UI, mobile apps, e-commerce, Blockchain, casino's, exchanges and more. I do both code and design and build projects from scratch. Projects typically last between 2-6 months and I work on a milestone basis.

I've met some great people here with awesome projects so on occasion, i'm also open to working for equity depending on the size of the project. For any queries, feel free to reach out with an NDA if required. I have walk-in open office hours in London and i'm generally available throughout the year in the UK and US for a coffee or meetup.

2  Other / Politics & Society / Thoughts on Trump's UN speech? on: September 24, 2020, 09:59:58 AM
If anyone missed it, here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAy1nC9BJA0

Do you agree that the world should hold China accountable? Or, is his speech a little too harsh?
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A crypto startup is now funding people in Bitcoin for delayed flights. on: August 19, 2020, 05:31:37 PM
Next time you experience a flight delay, you can now receive compensation in Bitcoin. Colibra.io are offering to fund people in Bitcoin whenever they have experienced a flight delay of over 1 hour which is rather handy!

It's interesting how more startups are offering a Bitcoin payment method and it's likely that this will continue as it also gives a lot of startups good exposure to the community. With this becoming the norm, I can see Bitcoin payments being relatively entrenched as a payment method for future startups helping the crypto ecosystem in general.

6  Other / Archival / I am developing and designing an exchange and looking for some suggestions! on: August 06, 2020, 05:14:40 PM
I’m developing and designing an exchange and I wanted to gather some suggestions from the community! Here is a little preview of it:

I’m creating a free and open source exchange that will be based on ‘play money’. I thought this could be useful as a lot of the time, beginners are thrown right into the deep end when signing up to most exchanges. With an exchange that only deals with ‘play money’, users can get a feel of what it’s like to trade with Cryptocurrencies. It’s just a little side project but I thought it could perhaps be useful.

So, I wanted to gather some suggestions on what confused you when you signed up to an exchange as a beginner?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The Brave browser reaches 16.7 million monthly active users. on: August 04, 2020, 04:10:24 PM
Brave recently released their MAU statistics which has reached a rather impressive 16.7M: https://mobile.twitter.com/BrendanEich/status/1290312177182621696?s=19

It's a subject of debate, but Brave which uses BAT as it's token, is somewhat of a 'sleeping giant'. Personally, I can see Brave being very popular with millennials and Gen Z, particularly with gamers as the browser could potentially be used as a way to pay for gaming memberships with BAT. I'm also looking forward to their ad platform which is due to be released and other applications in the works.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / PayPal are reportedly planning to bring crypto to it's users using Paxos. on: July 22, 2020, 09:02:04 AM
So it looks like PayPal are speeding up their interest in finally utilising crypto on it's platform and interestingly, there are rumours that they'll be using Paxos to handle the supply.  Revolut have also decided to go with Paxos quite recently too. Overall, i'm looking forward to seeing how PayPal will tackle implementing cryptocurrency. It seems that PayPal have finally given into the fact that cryptocurrency offers a lot of competition to their business model in terms of speed and fees and that it's probably best for them to implement cryptocurrency too.

9  Other / Archival / Santander bank plans to expand Ripple's payments network later this year. on: July 18, 2020, 01:24:41 PM
Banco Santander are planning to use Ripple’s blockchain-based service RippleNet as part of their partnership. It's also lead to more banking partnerships for Ripple and trials. I know Ripple is a very debatable project but it seems that banks are taking their payment network seriously and we all know international payments with banks currently are a nightmare (slow, expensive and the list goes on).

It's rather impressive that Santander are taking a serious approach with Ripple. Banks partnering with Blockchain projects will be a huge feat for Blockchain for numerous reasons. It will also lead to extra funding for Blockchain research which is rather exciting.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Abra CEO and founder Bill Barhydt now sees Bitcoin as a store of value. on: July 16, 2020, 09:30:54 PM
Having initially been quite sceptical Bill Barhydt has now come out and proclaimed that he agrees on Bitcoin being a store of value by stating that "today Bitcoin is best used as a store of value that will become more and more uncorrelated to traditional investing markets over time".

As more people start to view Bitcoin as a store of value this could arguably gain popularity with the general public and, dare I say it, even boomers.
11  Bitcoin / Meetups / I’m setting up a few crypto project related programming and design classes. on: July 15, 2020, 05:55:43 PM
As the title suggests, I’m setting up a few free online webinars for those seeking to learn how to create crypto related projects such as online exchanges, decentralized apps etc. I’ll also be building an online exchange (similar to Changelly) and going through the process of it from start to finish.

I will be organising this once a month with varying times and I’ll try to accommodate around 3 people at once. For now, the subjects will mainly be about learning React and concentrating on user interfaces.

Also, it’s not as boring as it sounds, these can be quite social and I’ve met some great people by running them. As well as teaching, I also personally learn a lot from people’s overall tastes and reception to certain styles (UX/UI) and preferences.

To sign up to my webinar please send me a message with the subject line ‘I love Nirvana’ just so I know you’ve read my post!  Smiley
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The Facebook advertising boycott could be a good thing for crypto startups. on: July 06, 2020, 07:44:33 PM
Many companies around the world have joined in on the Facebook advertising boycott and it seems that it's not stopping anytime soon. With a flurry of companies leaving and setting this trend, this could mean more business for crypto social and advertising projects like Brave and Steem. It will also be arguably beneficial for crypto companies especially, to not have to depend on Facebook for advertising and hopefully we'll see crypto companies utilizing different platforms for advertising.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Coinbase custody will support Cardano staking this year. on: July 05, 2020, 07:23:59 PM
Cardano have announced that they have made an agreement with Coinbase custody to support Cardano staking. Users will be able to stake their ADA tokens from inside Coinbase's cold storage this year. Coinbase custody's head of product said their regulated product would help projects, like Cardano, find more mainstream acceptance.

14  Other / Archival / Bank of Japan has announced it will begin experimenting with a digital currency. on: July 03, 2020, 09:45:18 AM
So it looks like Japan are taking their initial approach seriously and have started their experiments with a digital Yen as noted here: https://cointelegraph.com/news/bank-of-japan-will-begin-experimenting-with-a-digital-yen

It's great to see and it'll also mean more studies on Cryptocurrencies and funding for projects. A push for digital currency will arguably only accelerate Bitcoin's adoption.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Microsoft releases Bitcoin-based ID tool. on: June 10, 2020, 08:09:07 PM
The full report can be found here: https://www.coindesk.com/microsoft-releases-bitcoin-based-id-tool-as-covid-19-passports-draw-criticism.

It's somewhat amazing to see Microsoft using Bitcoin tech for a solution. This will also arguably lead the way for more innovation with Bitcoin tech.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The average cost of sending a Bitcoin transaction is now just a little over $1. on: June 08, 2020, 11:15:03 AM
I came across some interesting data today from Bitinfocharts that suggests transactions on average cost $1.083. Having a low transaction fee is arguably an important factor to the growing adoption of Bitcoin and it's great to see that the transaction fee has lowered especially after the somewhat high fees after the halvening. I personally still have friends and family that are unaware of the low transaction fees for Bitcoin and are still using platforms that charge much higher than Bitcoin's fee so it's always good to remind those unaware of Bitcoin's transaction fee.
