1  Economy / Scam Accusations / To the person contacting BTCrow.com on: September 25, 2013, 05:31:11 AM
To the person using a safe-mail.net email address contacting us with scam accusations.

The reason you haven't received a reply from us is because your email provider (safe-mail.net) has rejected every email (from gmail) we have attempted to send to you over the past several days.

Please use another email provider so we may reply to you. We have no other way of contacting you.

Alternatively you can leave us a message on bitcointalk.org.

[REMOVED]@safe-mail.net
Hi ;

I already made contact with you several days ago and did not had an answer. I pointed that i was scammed by a seller with a fake mail adress and wrong bitcoin adress. I pointed that you could NOTE IN BOLD AND RED, on the page when confirming adress, that the mails have to come from btcrow.com@gmail.com and that the bitcoin adress is never send buy mail to the buyer, which is not noted on your site.

You never replied to me. I had a number of exchanges with the seller. Surprising for a scammer. He was rather convincing.

So maybe you are the scammers. It's easy, your "guarantee" don't cover wrong bitcoin adress (don't cover much in fact) and your procedure is extremely vague (bad combination).

But even if it's not you, you don't even answer to my message, which is the strict minimum.

Based on your answers to this message (or your absence of answers), i'm gonna tell about my experience everywhere like bitcointalk.org, and believe me if you don't take the time to answer to me, i'm gonna make you awful publicity.

Regards, anyway
C.

I'm in the process of compiling manually boost library to see if it will work but I'm not sure of the results.

Is there's something I miss or this is impossible to install bitcoin on a debian 5.0 / AMD x64 ?

Thanks

Hi,
Just noticed a new comment on our review page here: http://www.bitcoinsreview.com/2011/07/21/btcrow-com/

Quote
The website doesn’t work over TOR. It freezes when I click Create Escrow for the second time.
If I could direct customers to it through TOR, I could tell them that their privacy is intact. To use the service now I’d have to tell the customers to turn off TOR and reveal their IP addresses to the owner of BTCrow.com.

In fact the website work with tor and also have ssl enabled for security. https://btcrow.com

Tested over Tor without problem.

If you read this thread:
We had problem with electricity here at Quebec because of Irene hurricane, that's probably why it freeze, we had 42 hours power outage.

We have UPS for power outage along with other internet connection but the 42 hours is overpassing the time my UPS can backup.
The situation is now ok and as soon as I get free time I'm gonna buy generator just to prevent this again.

I completely understand your concern about this issue. I was aware that some new or recurring customers will be mad because of this issue but there was nothing I could do except providing updates via facebook and twitter:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/BTCrow/118049574953361

If any people have questions or want to suggest things, I'll be more than happy to answer them here or by email at info[AT]btcrow.com

Thanks

7  Economy / Marketplace / [ANN] Introducing BTCrow special discounts - For safer bitcoin transactions on: July 27, 2011, 01:50:23 PM
Hi bitcoiners. As some of you know I started a bitcoin escrow service one month ago in order to protect both buyer and seller into a bitcoin transaction.

We provide mediation services as long as supporting donation escrow based for people which requested it.
You can get or request more informations at btcrow.com or at the official thread here: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=21544.0

So, what's that new specials on you site ?
In fact we charge in normal case 1% for donation base escrow and 2% for mediation based escrow.
We are then reducing our prices till the end of july to only 0.01btc fees for any escrow price.

But why we are doing that ?
In fact I started this escrow not just to make profit but because I strongly think that bitcoins will succeed and I wanna be part of it. The reason why this reduction occurs is because after pushing a little our escrow service and sometimes other escrow service, there's still plenty of people getting scammed because they simply not know what an escrow is or wasn't aware that such service existed for bitcoins.

So to be fair and that people learn using our services we only charge 0.01btc per transaction. This mean we won't do profit till in normal case each transaction we process include a 0.01 transaction fee goes to the miner for speeding up process.

ok:
you are still reading ?
you was about to do a bitcoin transaction before the end of July ?
you feel that our services can help you processing safer transaction ?

If you answered yes to all of theses questions then you're ready for the first coupon code:

NOSCAMJULY

Enter this coupon at http://btcrow.com to have a fixed escrow fee of 0.01btc only for any of your bitcoin transaction with us.

P.S: I would like that while reading this you complete the poll, it is very important to know if I should start advertising campaign or not in order to show that a way of protecting your bitcoins in a transaction is possible.

Happy transactions

Jules

This first (before seing the message sound spammy and fishy to me cause of return-path and reply-to fields.

here's the screenshot of the message now:

Also there's the source of the html email mesage:

As you can see the scam image and the form once you click the link are hosted (It's a guess but I'm sure at 99%) on a hacked website.

The 2 url are:
hxxp://esroros.net/url/url
and
hxxp://playaussierules.com/wp-admin/images/form.png

They use the area shape trick to fake a real link from paypal but once you click it it redirect to their fake form to steal you paypal credentials.

Just want to warn people here who aren't familiar with that type of messages to never ever complete it.
Paypal / Visa / MasterCard / Your Bank, anything which is relative to keeping safe your money won't ever send you message asking you your password and login informations.

If you have doubt when receiving this kinda email, Always verify with the genuine website in order to be sure that nobody want to phish you.

If you have questions it will be a pleasure to answer them here.

EDIT: I'll shortly send email to owner of esroros.net and playaussierules.com in order to let them know that their websites have been hacked.

10  Economy / Services / BTCrow.com - Bitcoin Escrow Service - For safer bitcoin transactions on: June 23, 2011, 03:15:58 PM
Hi, would like to introduce my service here and make it the official thread for suggestions, comments and all related to my escrow service.

What is BTCrow:

Btcrow.com is an escrow service who protect both sellers and buyer for bitcoins only. It didn't track data such as email and other personal informations. It's simple to use and provide a resolution center in case of dispute. Buyer can release the funds when they receive goods or service and seller know that the buyer have the needed coins to pay him.

Why BTCrow:

I searched on on the web to find escrow service for bitcoin and I found 2 of them very interresting. They are simple and work great except at one level: They do not really protect the seller.

I mean that if I'm a seller and want to sell goods to a bitcoin holder, then I use current escrow service and it show me that the buyer have the funds to complete the transaction, but, the buyer still have full control over his funds, mean that he
1) Can receive the product and not release the funds (wait 30 days)
2) Can receive the product and use the holded funds to make donation to EFF etc etc

So in my opinion this is not protecting the seller cause he can loose money by sending product and not receiving a single bitcoin.

BTCrow provide a resolution center wich provide to both party the security that they will receive what promised (funds / product or service).

Let me know what you think about it.

Thanks

BTCrow
