1  Bitcoin / Press / 2012-09-27 - Economic researcher sees great potential in Bitcoin on: September 28, 2012, 09:24:41 AM
I posted an article to a German online magazine and they accepted it:

I wanted to create a more mainstream alternative to the sensationalist/panicky articles that we usually see, and I can't go full Rothbardian/cryptoanarchist on them either. Google translate does not do a great job in this case and I'm lazy to translate myself, so here's a quick summary:
  • Contrary to the claims of the guys from the German lobbyist group BVDW, Bitcoin does not present a problem for the monetary policy of central banks
  • Bitcoin has a great potential in creating new business opportunities
  • At the moment, the price fluctuates and usage requires a high level of technical skills, but there are indications that it's maturing
  • Potential users should exercise caution when using Bitcoin, but can use BitPay or Casascius coins to mitigate some of the risks
  • Bitcoin can be seen as an experiment and used to familiarise oneself with digital money and prepare oneself for the future where digital money might be widespread
2  Local / Deutsch (German) / Mein Artikel ueber Bitcoin ... on: September 26, 2012, 02:16:41 PM

3  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin London Conference 2012 on: July 18, 2012, 12:35:23 PM

I have been working on economic research of Bitcoin for over a year and would like to present my findings at the London conference My paper will probably be published before that, but this way I can present some aspects of it in what will hopefully be a less boring form, and answer questions.

As it is a complex topic and I won't be able to talk about everything, I am giving you an opportunity to pick the topic you consider interesting. The resulting ranking will influence my talk. I don't know yet how many topics I can discuss but I don't think there will be time for more than two, so everyone can make two votes. You have 14 days to vote. You do not need to attend the conference to vote, it will most likely be recorded anyway so you can check it out online afterwards.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Survey about Bitcoin economics on: September 29, 2011, 08:49:09 PM

I'm writing a master's thesis about economics of Bitcoin, and as a part of it I am conducting a survey. I already mentioned the survey on the #bitcoin IRC channel and on the Bitcoin People google group, but I thought I'd mention it here too:

Some of the questions might be considered too revealing (e.g. how much you invested into bitcoins, how many bitcoins did you have and so on), so if you do not feel comfortable, do not fill it out. If you worry about authenticity of the survey, I was on the London Bitcoin Weekend last week and you can hear me on some of the recordings (I'm not sure if I'm visible on any of them). Also, here's a picture of me with Amir Taaki and Vladimir Marchenko:
