Take back mining for a while until they build new ASICs. Probably do software for CPU/GPU if feasible before ASIC preferably please.

Say you had a terminal illness, like cancer or some incurable thing where you will die in a couple months

A bad nation state entity offers $50,000 for each each person you kill in a mass shooting

They provide you tools, training, and escrowed plenty of money for this event... the next of kin will receive the money through secret transactions

I've been supportive of Gary since his US House primary. He went on to try to get his opponent to win the seat; from there, he went around the entire nation speaking to the people. He returned home and now he's running for senate.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Whistleblower Ledger? on: December 16, 2021, 12:43:32 AM
In theory, a whistleblower would be able to publish their complaint to a public ledger.

With a secured distributed public ledger, corporations wouldn't be able to prevent whistleblowers from embedding their complaints.

In reality; anyone would be able to make a complaint with as much as text as they want. The issue would be sorting real complaints vs fake complaints [meant to overwhelm the system, especially for non-centralized crypto].

The record couldn't be deleted or suppressed once published. Media could try to suppress the statements made in the public ledger, but anyone who downloads the entire ledger would have access to read all complaints.

Has anyone gave this any thought?
6  Other / Politics & Society / Sexual Harassment at SpaceX on: December 16, 2021, 12:41:37 AM
At first, there was one whistleblower..

She got a lot of flack on social media for trying to embed the complaint in blockchain [and making some money off the record] from what I could tell.

A lot of people questioned her victimhood status.

Then the following day, 4 other former employees came out to support her [and backed up her statements].

Overall, I think OSHA needs to move in on SpaceX and shut them down... Sexual harassment in the workplace is a workplace safety violation.

8  Other / Politics & Society / Troy Propes should be arrested. on: December 14, 2021, 05:16:06 AM
Putting profits before people's lives is sick.

The buck stops with executives; they created the policies and procedures which encouraged management to prevent workers from going home.

This in turn lead to multiple workers dying at the factory. If management didn't prevent these folks from going home, they'd likely be alive today.

Instead, this corporation made the conscious decision to threaten to *FIRE* people if they left for safety.

I'd say the company should undergo the corporate death penalty, where all assets are seized and auctioned off to pay reparations to the victims

Management should be tried and convicted

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/kentucky-tornado-factory-workers-threatened-firing-left-tornado-employ-rcna8581

I'd be curious to see management try to lie during the court hearings; perjury charges and whatnot exists for lying under oath. It's not illegal to lie to the media though.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Tether unbacked shitcoin? on: December 06, 2021, 08:44:21 AM
When they were rolled out, they were 1:1 cash token... totally believed them /s

Recently, they're mostly junk papers... worthless "company" that's been gutted.

Now they've injected a bunch of cash into the market that's entirely unbacked... effectively counterfeiting currency.

This is bad for crypto.

11  Other / Politics & Society / Ilhan Omar is running for re-election to represent Minnesota's 5th district. on: November 12, 2021, 07:21:36 PM
Ilhan gets a lot of heat [because of her religious views]. I love that she's been able to rightfully call out Israel's links to the United States. She's an amazing progressive who's fighting the good fight;

12  Other / Politics & Society / Jamaal Bowman for Congress [New York] on: November 12, 2021, 07:15:23 PM
Jamaal is right smack middle in all this. He helped draft the Green New Deal for cities. He unseated entrenched establishment politicians when he won in 2020.

I've interacted with him a couple times via question and answer on reddit/twitter. He seems like a pretty good dude.

Quote
JAMAAL BOWMAN IS AN EDUCATOR, HUSBAND, FATHER OF THREE, AND CHAMPION OF CHILDREN AND WORKING FAMILIES.

“I am running because I believe in the unlimited potential of all children and it is the responsibility of our elected leaders to place them at the top of the political agenda. This is not about good work for just a small group of kids in the Bronx, but the millions across the country.”

Jamaal was born and raised in New York City.  He spent his early years in public housing and later in rent-controlled apartments. He didn’t have much growing up, but his mother provided him all that he needed: love, a stable family, and a sense of community. Jamaal now lives in Yonkers with his wife and three kids, and he works as the founding principal of one of thebest public middle schools in the city.

Jamaal has fought for teachers, students, and families for twenty years. As a leader in the opt-out movement across the state, Jamaal connected parents from diverse backgrounds to the fight. He has been a steering committee member for NYSAPE, where his work centered on successfully dismantling Common Core in NY and decoupling teacher evaluations from student test scores. He has also been a member of the New York State Early Childhood Blue Ribbon Committee, where he championed early childhood learning standards. He worked with Bronx Legal and Visiting Nurse Services to push for policy that trains every teacher in New York State in trauma-informed practices. He worked with Avenues the World school, Negus World, and Hip Hop Saves Lives to implement innovative design thinking and social justice curriculum. He has also led efforts to educate elected officials on the impact of toxic stress on health and education outcomes. He recently earned his doctorate in education focusing on the benefit of the community school model, which is an alternative to charter schools and the roadmap to fixing our public school system.

After seeing the failures in our education system, Jamaal started Cornerstone Academy for Social Action (CASA). Located in the Baychester neighborhood of the Bronx, CASA is an innovative public school with a strong emphasis on student voice, holistic education, cultural awareness, and love. Through his work in education, he has seen firsthand how low-income families are locked out of opportunity by a system that’s rigged for the wealthy and privileged few. Through his work as an advocate and a Principal, he has seen the results of inadequate housing, homelessness, mental health, the racist immigration system, the school to prison pipeline, food deserts, and trauma filled environments.

While our leadership is focused on wars, and privatization of government services, our kids and communities have been legislated out of the American dream! We need an advocate like Jamaal to center families and community as has done for the past 20 years. We need to right the wrongs of No Child Left Behind, the ‘94 Crime Bill, and a system that breeds inequality.

‍While the current leadership has failed to produce results, Jamaal has been successfully fighting for families in the state. With this election, we can build the movement by putting Jamaal, an effective advocate, and educator, into the halls of Congress so he can continue to work for not just the state of New York, but our country.

13  Other / Politics & Society / Jason Call is running for US House of Representatives in Washington. on: November 12, 2021, 07:11:15 PM
Jason Call is an unapologetic progressive. He'll fight against the corporate establishment tooth and nail. I've only met him in person for a very short period, wishing him luck on his campaign.

Quote
My name is Jason Call. I have a 30-year history of progressive activism. I am a husband, father, a former public school math teacher, musician, and progressive activist. Over the last few decades, I have stood up for working class values around war, healthcare, education, and our environment.

IMG_2504.jpg
I am running for Congress because here in Washington state, a supposed bastion of progressivism, we are represented by only a single progressive in the House: Pramila Jayapal from Seattle. It's time that our district also be represented by someone who is a proud progressive.

Over the last four years, I have served as an elected representative to the Washington State Democratic Central Committee for at times both Snohomish County and the 44th Legislative District. In my time on that body, I introduced—and passed—progressive resolutions like:

Reasonable firearms controls;

Rejecting corporate political action committee money from the health insurance industry and Big Pharma;

Opposing the blacklisting of progressive vendors by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC)

Additionally, I was a founding member of the Separation of Church and State Caucus and the Economic Justice Caucus. The team I led for the Snohomish County Democratic Party platform successfully campaigned for the first section for the Washington State Democratic Party platform to be dedicated entirely to housing justice.

I believe in people over profit. I believe that good government is possible when we rein in the undue influence of giant corporations and directly challenge their power. Together, I believe we can prevent them from continuing to write laws that massively benefit the wealthy to the detriment of everyone else.

As Representative Jayapal said, we need a “fundamentally different economy”, and I will be running for Congress to advance that work.

14  Other / Politics & Society / Morgan Harper is running for US Senate in Ohio. on: November 12, 2021, 07:09:01 PM
Morgan Harper is an amazing candidate for US Senate. She'll fight for us in D.C.

I've talked to *both* candidates for US Senate in person this year. I feel better represented by her.

Quote
Morgan Harper, a consumer protection attorney and community organizer, is a 2022 Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate for Ohio.

Born to a teenager, Morgan lived in a foster home for nine months before being adopted and raised in Columbus by a public school teacher. She received scholarships to attend Tufts (BA), Princeton (MA) and Stanford (JD). During the Obama administration, she served as a Senior Advisor at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) responsible for protecting consumers against predatory lenders.

Most recently, she was the Director of Policy & Advocacy at the American Economic Liberties Project, a non-profit fighting to break up corporate monopolies across the economy. In this role, Morgan testified before Congress on the unchecked power of Big Tech. At the start of her career, Morgan clerked at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, worked as a paralegal at the Federal Trade Commission, and was a special assistant at the Center for American Progress. She also spent two years in the private sector at a major law firm, gaining additional knowledge and insight into the behavior of corporations and the financial sector.

Morgan is the co-founder of Columbus Stand Up! a grassroots community organization that mobilized volunteers across Central Ohio in response to the pandemic going door to door delivering 30K masks, driving voters to polls in the 2020 election and transporting hundreds of people to their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

What's your stance on these posts and threads.

I think they're good, because they make people realize how dumb they're being with anti-vax nonsense.

Effectively, the "Herman Cain Award" is given to an individual who posts a bunch of anti-vax nonsense on social media and then dies from covid19.

The award is named after Herman Cain, a right wing loony who died from covid after speaking against the vaccination for months.

I can't stand the spam in Politics & Society - I'm posting here to avoid the shitposts and spam that is normally generated in those threads. If moderators want to move it, tough shit. Deal with my 'advertisement' here or meta.

I actually have a Legendary account here; it was compromised when the forum was compromised. I haven't retrieved the account, nor do I care to revive the internet handle [a past that should remain buried]. It had +1 trust from default trust even.

I've hit 7 blocks on my hardware; rewards of 50 bitcoin per block at the time.. I was unlucky in the grand scheme of things. Luckily, I mined using deepbit, and using PPS, I was able to earn ~520 bitcoin mining [sorry other miners on that pool, I guess].

My connection to this community is over a decade.
I have 3 accounts; my main, the main's alt [both using a dead internet handle], and this account linked to my real life name.

However, this isn't what the thread is about.

The thread is about doing good for this world.

----

I have a few strange and radical beliefs. One of those beliefs is that Satoshi isn't from our time. The universe has been modified quite dramatically since we started observing quantum... things. The observation alone changes the outcome; and there's an infinite balance this universe achieves even throughout all the chaos.

Blockchain is more than just a transaction ledger; it's the communication pathway. It's the infinite Rosetta Stone for all modern times. I hold a less than 1 BTC but more than .5 BTC; not to spend, but to embed my autobiography for all of time in this universe; to provide message and information to folks.

I'll be holding onto these Satoshis long after the value of "Satoshi" is considered massive relative to whatever resource people are consuming at the moment.

----

I hold many contradicting beliefs to this community.

I believe Bitcoin was meant to be democratic; to give power to the people; not to be centralized. I think that ASICs for Proof-of-Work was a net-negative to bitcoin as a whole. I feel as though Bitcoin was supposed to be accessible to the masses; not to the few.

-----

Our planet is dying. Gaea is dying.  She'll have a choice; kill her children to save herself; or die and let her children die. It's a choice she's made before.

Humanity is power, powerful enough to overcome even Gods themselves. We have the ability to mobilize to save Gaea and ourselves.

The will of the people is not there to realize this. They're more concerned with how to survive in this technological gilded age. The rich get richer; the poor get poorer. Capital Accumulation just works this way.

The problem is the rich don't seem to care if this planet dies or not; they devil they deal with convinces them this planet isn't worth living, and it won't be their problem.

As a child, I bonded with nature; I talked to animals, I communicated my feelings and emotions blindly to them. I slept under the stars for years during my infancy; looking up in the clear night sky, seeing thousands of stars.

There wasn't the light pollution that exists today.

The air was cleaner; I breathed better. Gaea was healthier; but she still yearned for life. She was dying, but the humans didn't really care; it wasn't even in the top 5 of their concerns.

---

America's healthcare system is beyond broken. The for-profit motivation of the healthcare industry is absolutely disgusting.

The idea that an individual should be impoverished because they were born sickly is absolutely inhumane. It's absolutely bonkers this society allows the social murder of these individuals.

If humans mobilized; and worked together, we could actually defeat death entirely.

Death should be an individual's choice; not something nature can force upon us. Not even a dozen Maruts can stop a single human from exercising their choice to live ad infinitum. Not even the heat death of this universe will stop us from continuing to live.

---

Humans are way too distracted by social media. We're also distracted by trying to make ends meet. We have the technological capability to automate the vast majority of work; we also have the ability to just fix it ourselves the vast majority of time.

However, humans toil away; wasting their precious time; their finite time at the office.

No one ever wished they spent more time at the office while laying in their deathbed.

America is radically unique; we don't have paid vacation leave by law. No company has to give their employees paid leave.

It's an utter disgrace that the vast majority of Americans never leave the country; a huge chunk don't even have passports.

We need to be the leaders in labor; abolishing work [as we know it] should be an objective of society. How many people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops? Far too many; even today, we toil away, burning our precious time just to live, just to exist.

---

Education and knowledge are protected behind paywalls. If you're in the "in", you're in. If you're not, good luck with your ignorance. The younger folks are scaling the walls to gain access to that knowledge. Entities like Sci-Hub are creating holes in the wall that allow those who are curious to peak inside and see the wonders of the folks who stand on the shoulders of giants.

We need to tear down these walls and allow open access to all of humanity's knowledge; to want this knowledge to be shared and improved upon by others. Not in secrecy or for competitive means, but to collaborate to build together a better future for all of us and not just those who want to stand the tallest.

---

America is #1 in prisoner population. We're #1!! We're not even close to #1 in population, but we sure have more prisoners than they do. Woo! Yay us. The land of the free has the most folks locked up.

This is manufactured. When we abolished slavery; we left in a loophole... just make inprison them.

Prisoners are stripped of their rights; they no longer are valid citizens. If the government wants to strip these rights from you; you have zero recourse afterwards.

It's absolutely sickeningly that a single abusive prick can ruin the rest of your life; they hold the authority to plant evidence and ensure your civil rights are quashed. The worst bit is when these abusers are recorded and evidences provided that highlights their abuses; the fraternity of abusers defends them.

I'm surprised they even can focus at work considering the rate at which they beat their wives.

You want to abolish crime? Abolish poverty.

When you're hungry, hot, and exhausted, and tired of life; you stop giving a fuck about others. You just want what's best for you; fuck society. Hell, even the corporate overlords shows this in their snicker's commercials.

The idea that 50% of folks in prisons are there because of non-violent offenses is absolutely disgusting. People making personal choices that only impact themselves, and other consenting adults are stripped of their freedoms.

---

America is an imperialistic empire. We have several colony states we maintain. Do we actually own Israel or do they own us? Well, it depends on who's in charge in the moment; and who's made what promises.

You want to build a better society for everyone? Stop fucking trying to capture every single piece of land for yourself. Allow others to live. Work with them to help them thrive.

America's war path is  never ending; we'll never stop fighting in West Asia under any administration. The cold war never ended, it just shifted to digital mediums because traditional methods of engagement were... well, non-effective.

---

I believe America is the best country in the world; not because I was born here, but because how it was built. It was built by immigrants, for immigrants, with the help of immigrants.

The idea that "I got mine, now go somewhere else" is absolutely counterintuitive to building a better nation for us. I believe that anyone should be able to attain the American dream regardless of where they were born. It really goes back to the previous comments; how many great minds exists in sweatshops or fields, they'll have the opportunity to create a better nation for us all.

The bars of entry into this nation should be low; the amount of support we give these folks to transition to the American way of living should be high.

---

Here's the rub; if I tell you any of these policy names, you'll instantly hate them. The mass media has manufactured consent regarding these concepts. You're inherently opposed to them because the billionaires with megaphones told you to hate them.

You're a sheep. Satoshi wasn't a sheep; he was ready to overthrow the billionaires, but it wasn't their moment.

The billionaires legalized foreign slavery; they legalized domestic slavery. They enjoy the legalized serfs; it makes them richer.

----

I'll leave you with a quote... from a leader that I'll disagree with on many topics;

"This is a moment to dream big, to rethink our priorities - what we value, what we want, what we seek, and to commit to act in our daily life on what we have dreamed of."
20  Other / Politics & Society / Progressives lost an important race in Ohio today. on: August 04, 2021, 03:12:49 AM
Nina Turner had national support - she had plenty of on the ground door knockers. There was a ton of support from the communities.

However, the negative attacks came from superpacs and were able to throw off the balance. Even with millions of dollars pouring in from outsiders [including Israel], she still managed to hold her own.

It's amazing how close the results were for this race.

The struggle continues.
