1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining with AMD RX570 finding no GPU on: January 16, 2026, 11:33:06 PM
I have two mining rigs;
•   1 x CPU - Intel Coffee Lake CPU
•   12 x GPU - MSI/AMD RX570 8G
•   1 x Memory - UDIMM 8 G DDR4
•   2 x PSU - 1200W Gold
•   1 x SSD - 128 GB 2.5 inch
•   1 x Motherboard - MSI blockchain MB H310

Each is running Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS

I was trying to get lolminer working, and even tried TeamRedMiner - but both come up with errors that they can find no OpenGL GPUs.
I started with AMD drivers, but removed those and went with MESA, and then into RUSTICL.  Currently if I run "clinfo -l" it will list all the cards properly under Platform #0 rusticl
but no mater what I do, the miner just won't see the cards, even though I can get the OS to see them.

looking for any suggestions to get these running again.

Here's what I have done so far from the notes I've been writing myself:

Quote
If needed, remove all AMD drivers you may have attempted

   sudo amdgpu-install
   --uninstall sudo apt purge amdgpu-install
   sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/amd*
   sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/rocm*
   sudo apt update

Manually install the OpenCL drivers (MESA)

   sudo apt install mesa-opencl-icd clinfo

Verify hardware detection

   lspci | grep -i vga | wc -l

Increase memory map for 12 cards

   sudo nano /etc/default/grub

Edit the line starting with GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
change it to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pci=realloc"
      Ctrl O
      Y
      Ctrl X

   sudo update-grub
   sudo reboot

Verify after reboot how many cards you have available

   lspci | grep -i vga | wc -l

Enable huge pages crucial for 12 video cards

   sudo sysctl -w vm.nr_hugepages=2560

Increase your swap files

   sudo swapoff -a
   sudo fallocate -l 64G /swapfile
   sudo chmod 600 /swapfile
   sudo mkswap /swapfile
   sudo swapon /swapfile

   sudo gpasswd -a dsb render
   sudo gpasswd -a dsb video
sudo usermod -a -G video dsb
sudo usermod -a -G render dsb
   sudo reboot

***TIP for 12 cards
With 12 GPUs, the "minute-long delay" you mentioned is the system's way of saying it's struggling to map all that hardware at once. To prevent the miner from crashing during this "lag" period, you should increase your locked memory limits:
   1. Open the limits file:
      sudo nano /etc/security/limits.conf
   2. Add these lines at the very bottom:
      * soft memlock unlimited
      * hard memlock unlimited
   3. Save and Reboot

Enable the "Rusticl" Driver
   sudo nano /etc/environment
RUSTICL_ENABLE=radeonsi            ((add to bottom of file))
Save and exit

Ignore\disable the clover driver
   sudo mv /etc/OpenCL/vendors/mesa.icd /etc/OpenCL/vendors/mesa.icd.bak
Reboot

****at this point you will log back in and run clinfo -l and it will quickly show all your cards, using rusticl. But lolMiner still won't see them. So there's a last trick
The "Library Link" Trick
We need to create a symbolic link that points the standard OpenCL loader to our working Rusticl driver, but gives it the name lolMiner expects to see.
   sudo ln -sf /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libOpenCL.so.1 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libamdocl64.so

Always launch your mining session as admin to reduce bottlenecks
   sudo ./mine_etc.sh

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / advice - issues with current setup on: June 16, 2024, 09:07:33 PM
I'm having a lot of issues with my current setup and need some suggestions.

I'm running an MSI H310-F Pro mining rig with (12) AMD RX 570 Graphic cards, running Windows10. I purchased this in 2020 and was able to start mining fairly quickly. At the time I downloaded the AMD blockchain driver, modded the cards, and I started with lolminer and mined ETH.

Once ETH switched to staking, I moved over to ETC. But I think that Windows updates have gotten the best of me. Windows is almost at the current version, and all (12) cards indicate an error in the device manager. I've put this aside for quite a while, but I'm trying to get it up and running again.

I ran the AMD cleaner tool, rebooted, and reinstalled an older AMD graphics driver with adrenaline; before doing the mandatory reboot, they were all showing correctly working within the Windows device manager.  Rebooted, then they all had an error again. Attempting to run MSI afterburner and the program just appears to hang. Attempt to run the AMD tweak app and it too has an error.

Not sure what happened as it used to run smoothly. again, guessing it's something to do with updated Windows, but looking for some help getting it started again

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Worth converting old cards to mine? on: February 02, 2021, 08:16:22 PM
Is it worth it to convert older video cards to mine?
For the time being take the electrical cost out of the equation.

I have (2) nVidia NVS 310 1GB cards that I'm wondering if I can just setup in a corner and just let them go.

what could they mine?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Thoughts on miner for ETH on: January 12, 2021, 07:07:13 PM
Like many last month I was thrown when Claymore suddenly stopped.  And not only that, it wasn't going to get updated.  Dev fees aside, it was stable and it worked very well.  But just like others I had to find myself a new miner.

I'd used lolminer before so I quickly jumped to it and got it up and running.  I was a little dishearted to find that I was only getting a hash of 19, whereas with Claymore I was getting about 33.  It was suggested to use AMDTweak and I was able to squeeze out another 1.5 - 2 hash.
And I'm currently using the AMD software to underpower, increase fans, but when I attempt to set the GPU clock speeds it tends to run for a while and then driver crashes.  I'm doing about 21-22 hashrate at the moment using lolminer 1.19

What I'm wondering is; has anyone done a comparison between ethminer, team red miner, lolminer and phoenix?  I'd love to hear some comparisons and hear which may be the best one to settle with.

I'm just trying to get back up to the old hashrate (or closer to it)

Each rig is:
Windows 10 x64
(12) AMD RX570 8G cards (AMD driver 20.11.3)
lolminer 1.19
AMDTweak 1.1.0.3

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to know your GPU limit? on: April 30, 2020, 07:40:53 PM
New to mining and wondering how I understand what my limit is.

I have (12) MSI/AMD rx570 8GB cards

When I first started I was around 9mhs/card.  After some help and a little tweaking I've got it running at 32mhs/card and mine about 0.05eth a day.

What I'm curious is, is that the top for that card?  Is 32mhs great? or should I be attempting 45mhs.  Obviously don't want to burn out a card and now that it's stable I'm ok to leave it for now.  Not sure if there's something simple like a chart to say you use this card and you should expect 'X'mhs.

Just trying to gauge what my limits are
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Total Shares - OnScreen vs Dashboard on: April 22, 2020, 06:46:07 PM
I'm new to mining and understanding all that I'm seeing.

I've gotten my hashrate up from when I started, but I'm now seeing a discrepancy of my total shares that I don't understand.

On my rig it tells me that I have a total of 477 shares

On my dashbaord (ethermine.org) it tells me I have a total of 273

I do understand that the dev (Claymore) takes some my mining time for himself, and that is calculated as part of the total but it's not supposed to be that much.  So where's the rest?
