I couldn't find any discussion on the forum about this BIP.
I assume that most of you are familiar with the BIP-119 proposal.
I don't think it will win 90% approval of the miners' hash rate.

I don't know if it good or bad for bitcoin a proposal like this, but for sure it will benefit Rubin financially.
According to the suggested Speedy Trial, the neutral votes are counted as 'positive'.
Loosing the fungibility it's not exactly what I envision for bitcoin's future.

I want to know currently who has the rights over the WP. After reading some articles about Craig Wright and removing the Whitepaper from bitcoin.org  it is a bit unclear.
In addition the source code of the bitcoin software is an open source. 
How a man can copyright something which was originally released under the open source MIT License?

It is still not clear to me how the time between the blocks is determined and how it can be determined at 10 min?

Mining 723578 took less than a minute, there were only 75 transactions totally 217.39 Btc
Mining 723579 took approximately 6 minutes with 1528 transactions and 2258.98 btc

The hash rate is at ATH together with the network difficulty, if it plays a role.

I looked at several pages with the history of the blocks and could not see one that was close or over 10 minutes.
All are under 10 minutes.
The average total should be well under 10 minutes.


I forgot to add that nowhere in the bitcoin white paper says that the time between the blocks are 10 minutes only if they are generated too fast per hour, the difficulty increases.

I have the following question:

What is the relation between the seed words and the private key and how can one convert the seed into a private key?
Taking BIP39 as an example.

I read the following:

At first I thought the conversion of the seed into a numeric value will result into a private key, but I seem to be mistaken.
What are the steps to convert a seed to a private key?

I see so many people wearing signatures these days.
How do you state the cryptocurrency income from signature campaigns in your tax return? The tax authorities in Europe want to provide them with a document for the purchase of cryptocurrency, I guess it's the same for USA & Canada with the AML laws.

If I have the backup of the keys from an android bitcoin wallet. How can I get the hash of the backup file (the name is like bitcoin-wallet-keys-XXXX-XX-XX)  with John the ripper?
I have a Dash backup and I think the above procedure will work on the dash wallet too as they are similar, right?

I can make a new backup with password 123 and test all the possible hash variations created with john the ripper and test which one will be correct but I decided to ask first here.
The Internet is silent about this.

The main Altcoin Discussion Board is clogged with random meaningless topics, and there's no place for the real questions, why so?

If I have a backup copy of the Android Litecoin wallet and I don't remember the unlock password, is there a way to take out the hash and try crack it?
I learned how to use Hashcat and I already created a wordlist with my possible password variations but how to extract the hash?
The format is Litecoin-Wallet-Keys-XXXX-XX-XX

I just learned that Bitcoin Core does not support mnemonic seed.
Which wallets support mnemonic seed except Electrum and are there any differences in the wordlists? I see Electrum has "old" and "new" wordlists.
Can I use the same seed on a different wallets?

Is there such a wallet that I can install on my computer and import private keys without having to go to various sites.

Importing private keys on a website doesn't seem safe to me at all. There are many cases of stolen wallets.

Hello,
I came here not long ago and this is a great place full and extremely much information, but unfortunately it is quite poorly arranged.
There are a few things I want to share and also ask.

I had difficulty finding the rules of the forum, it turned out that they are not official.
The help menu is pointless, most of the features aren't even mentioned there at all, like Rules, Merit, Trust, feedback etc. You have to look for pinned posts here and there.

I encounter misunderstandings.
If I have a question, I find a topic that does not fully answer my question and I decide to publish my point.
I get a message that the topic is older than xx days and it is better to open a new topic. I open a new topic, people say that there are older topics on which I had to post my question.  In the meantime, I have to wait a few minutes between searches.

People do not read the previous comments. Several people answer the same thing simply by using different words and expressions.

I don't mind the old look of the forum, I even like it, but the text formatting tools are awful.

Don't take this as criticism, rather as wondering how things can be so confusing, this is a 10 year old forum.

Yet another question.
I decided before buying bitcoin to organize their storage properly. I settled on the Electrum solution.
First, it doesn't take up as much space as Bitcoin-qt, it seems the most secure.
It's no point switch to hardware wallets just yet.
Second, I don't want to use BTC for store of value. I prefer to use them for shopping, small transactions as that's the initial point of bitcoin.

I want Electrum to be installed in 2 places at the same time, both will be online. If I change the password of the first installation, what happens to the second one, I couldn't find an answer?

Note: I tried to reply to some old topics but I get a warning not to answer but to open a new topic, so I did.

It's me again, with a strange question.
I keep reading and I'm trying to figure something out.
If I send coins to an exchange and start trading there, as soon as I withdraw the coins they go through another address with a different amount of what I initially entered, I can also withdraw different amounts several times. Isn't this the same as passing coins through a mixer?
I read that some exchanges do not require KYC below a certain amount.

Hello, I want to buy bitcoin, how can I be sure that they were not used for any shady business?  If I buy directly from a person, what is the chance that I will have problems later?  Do I only have to buy from exchanges?
