1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / SEC Charges Crypto Company SafeMoon and its Executive Team for Fraud on: November 01, 2023, 05:28:53 PM
I just read the news. Get out while you still can!

Quote
The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged SafeMoon LLC, its creator Kyle Nagy, SafeMoon US LLC, and the companies’ Chief Executive Officer, John Karony, and Chief Technology Officer, Thomas Smith, for perpetrating a massive fraudulent scheme through the unregistered sale of the crypto asset security, SafeMoon. According to the SEC’s complaint, the Defendants promised to take the price of the token “Safely to the moon,” but instead of delivering profits, they wiped out billions in market capitalization, withdrew crypto assets worth more than $200 million from the project, and misappropriated investor funds for personal use.

2  Economy / Scam Accusations / WARNING - Phishing emails from the Bitcoin payment company Strike on: November 01, 2023, 05:10:56 PM
Be careful if you use the Strike app. Seems like some users have been getting phishing emails that looked like they were from the company.  At first Strike was refusing to admit and claimed no leak from their side. But I guess they did some more digging, cause now they sent out a message admitting it might've come from one of their third-party vendors.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / LastPass hack - move your crypto assets to a more secure place right now! on: October 30, 2023, 06:41:18 PM
Bad news, folks! I just saw this article about how a bunch of LastPass users got hacked and lost millions in crypto.  So LastPass is that password manager where you can store all your passwords and stuff securely online.  But they got breached last year when someone stole an employee's credentials. and  Since then, hackers have been targeting LastPass users who might kept their crypto wallet info on there - private keys, seed phrases etc.

According to the article, at least 25 LastPass users were hit and the hackers made off with about $4.4 million in crypto across different blockchains - Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Arbitrum, Solana, Polygon.. and users wallets got completely cleaned out in just one day.  Can you imagine logging in one day and seeing your entire crypto portfolio gone?!

This is a wake up call if you've ever stored sensitive info like crypto keys on LastPass or similar services.  You gotta move your assets to a more secure spot, like a hardware wallet or something.  Seriously go do it! This stuff keeps happening over and over again. Don't be the next victim!

4  Economy / Service Discussion / Blockchain explorer with advanced options? on: September 06, 2022, 08:51:16 PM
I am currently working with a client which is trying to perform some searches on blockchain data. One of the issues that I am running into is that there is no Blockchain explorer with advanced options, i.e. one where you can filter transactions according to certain criteria. For example, we would like to see only those transactions that started on specified input/output addresses. Do you know of such an online tool?
5  Other / Off-topic / Showcase: What is the most beautiful website you have ever seen? on: August 14, 2022, 04:09:01 PM
When it comes to designing websites, we all agree that it's very important to have a proper knowledge of web design segments such as HTML, CSS, and other related topics. But there are very few people who consider a graphical aspect while they're designing their website.

I know this is a subjective question, but I would like to know what websites you think are truly beautiful, whether you built them yourself or if they were built by someone else and you just think they look great. I'm looking for websites that are visually pleasing, easy to navigate, and functional. You can also include any personal projects you have built as well as websites from large companies like Apple or Google. Please include a screenshot or link to your favourite website in the comments.

For starters, here are some of my favourites:

The Game Awards Microverse

Nest Wifi

6  Other / Off-topic / Would creating our own VPN be better than buying one? on: January 19, 2022, 10:36:52 AM
I have read some posts that suggested that creating a VPN using a virtual private server is better than using a commercial VPN service. Can someone explain the difference?

And if so, what is the best way to get started with this kind of project? Do you have any tutorials that you can recommend?
7  Bitcoin / Project Development / What are some good open source projects I can get involved in as a beginner? on: October 20, 2021, 12:21:31 PM
My background is primarily in the PHP programming language, but I'm a relative beginner in Python, and I would also like to get involved in one of the cryptocurrency related projects. Although I am fairly new to the programming side of Bitcoin, I do understand how blockchains work. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding good beginner-level open-source projects for me?
8  Bitcoin / Project Development / How do I create and design simple website? on: February 14, 2021, 01:29:08 PM
I want to create a simple website for my crypto-related startup project. I know the basics of HTML and CSS code, but I've never created a web site before. What I want is a simple but professional looking responsive design with simple navigation.

What do you guys think?
Should I hire a professional website designer for such a website?
What are some recommended website design tools?

Please note, my time spent on this project is not a problem, there are no deadlines.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Some newbie questions about DeFi on: September 23, 2020, 12:58:59 PM
Hello everyone,

As you can see, I'm pretty new to this forum, but not to cryptocurrencies. To be honest, I'm not too familiar with all aspects of cryptocurrencies, but understanding the decentralized concept behind Bitcoin and 'alt-coin' currencies.

My primary reason to visit this forum is the current trend of DeFi projects. I had done some research on my own but failed to understand the whole concept and what benefits it brings.

If I understood correctly, the basic idea is to kick out today's financial bureaucracy from basic financial services to the end user. So, could anyone point me to some good reading regarding the differences between these two financial systems and what are all the advantages (and disadvantages) of decentralized finances?

Or I have a completely wrong idea here...

On a side note, the search function is quite limited for new users on this forum. Maybe the admins could do something about it.
