4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Lets Brain storm on how to limit losses... on: April 22, 2023, 03:15:03 PM
Every trader has come to that point in their trading history where the had to battle many things when the made their major loss. Some might have had so many bad thoughts flying through their minds while others struggled with emotional trauma. Losses is what no body ever plans for but it happens to be one of the major experience every trader must taste.

Most traders have also had their greedy moments turn out too hash on them. Some out of taking revenge on the market made tribble loss and many who feel extremely confident even when they are making wrong analysis have also tasted losses. Some even jump into trading premature maybe after getting an overview of what trading entails the feel confident and wants to explore themselves.

What led to your major loss in the market as for me it was staying too long on a trade i was making good profit before it turned all red and while waiting for the market to finish the correction moves i ended up losing everything.  How about you?
5  Other / Beginners & Help / How do you know a suitable environment to engage in Bitcoin discussions on: April 12, 2023, 07:49:09 PM
We live in a cruel society, One in which no one can be trusted mostly in under developed and developing nations where majority of citizens live an average life, even the most developed countries are not safe either. This level of hardship among pooe countries can turn good people into bad ones and as well escalate the bad threats in bad people. In as much as we try to keep our hodlings secrete and our transactions private, there are times we need to discuss with the few persons we believe won't stand as a problem when the topic about Bitcoin is discussed with them.

In those rare instances how do we really know we are safe with who so ever we chose to discuss matters like this with and also how do we choose our venue for having this conversations because most times discussing this through phone call can be risky as well because the walls have ears and many network providers record calls been held by their customers and this can also become a tool that can put the hodler at hgh risk.

7  Other / Beginners & Help / It is getting more tougher in the CEX Market on: April 06, 2023, 08:01:24 AM
I made this topic sometime in December about how Paxful CEO warned users to be responsible for their coin. here they are today having internal Crisis that might lead to a shot down of their peer to peer market. Be responsible for your coin.

Recently Paxful co-fonder  Artur Schaback sued Youssef the CEO of paxful and the company for been kicked out of the company more than a year ago which has resulted in closure of the exchange. This time there might be no panic for their customers as  customers have access to retrieve their funds now they have the opportunity. But what happens to those who don't get the information in time maybe when the exchange is completely closed and all activities seized

source

No matter how the CEX tries to stand out from the rest the fact they have a access to people to peoples funds and they have a central deciding body they cannot be too far from the worst the crypto market have experienced. No exchange is too big to fold and close down. The evidence that self custody is the most reliable keeps proving itself.

So far as of June 2022 not fewer than 525 exchanges has closed down their activities across different nations for various excuses according  and the most common been the pressure from the bear market according to CoinMarketCap and July alone in 2022 recorded 25 closed exchanges. It is really hitting heavily on exchanges, An effect of poor reserve.

Outside the Crypto firm NFT platform Open resulted in cutting down 20% of their workforce due to the harsh market condition. It is hitting from all nook and corner of the digital asset.
8  Other / Meta / What i discovered about webscraping Bitcointalk.org on: April 03, 2023, 08:36:03 PM

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How we lived when we had no choice until Bitcoin came on: March 24, 2023, 12:38:25 PM
Over time what ever we owned was been accounted for, If we invest in landed properties we are given government issued documents to seal our ownership, if we wanted to invest in gold or any other precious metal it will require us having a sort of ID that permits the buyer and seller to operate legally. Everything we could ever own is subject to close monitoring. It can as well said to be safe guarded by this same systems.

Those who didn't want to account for their properties went through the back doors and yet their investments were vulnerable to all sorts of attacks, which included confiscation, theft, oppression even loss due to lack of document to claim ownership. To stand a chance of having your properties safe and secure means having to trust the government. While this might not be a bad idea but what if this properties get seized, what if this properties get confiscated, what if along the line one is denied access to their properties.

Some offence might warrant search operatives to visit homes of the suspects to ensure the confiscate all their valuable properties. This is where the importance of owning Bitcoin comes into play. It can come in very useful in times like this. No one ever prays for bad events to occur but most of this things happens and sometimes the suspects might be tried and later discovered to be innocent but how about the moments of hardship they encountered while the trial was ongoing.

Since the invention of Bitcoin we have seen it as an investment option, a p2p transaction mechanism, a means of making anonymous donations and lots more. Now looking at it from the perspective of making anonymous savings incase of unplanned circumstance. Some times this circumstance can come in the form of set up or envy just to pull a fellow down.
10  Economy / Economics / Did the Bitcoin Maimi conference 2022 contribute to Bitcoin price. on: February 23, 2023, 11:18:55 PM
According to Maimi Herald 30,000 attendees and exhibitors were present at the Maimi beach to witness the 2022 conference which happened to be the largest single Bitcoin event in all times. The conference been hosted by Bitcoin Magazine and sponsored by Cash App sprung interest from all over the world. Bringing together developers, economic strategist, capitalist, Bitcoin builders, policy makers and policy makers.

Bitcoin's role as edge over inflation was one of the numerous things discussed and and according to
Quote
Morgan Creek Capital founder Mark Yusko, the problem isn’t inflation per se — it’s currency devaluation.
Pointing out it is scenerio of currency devaluation as 1BTC will always equal 1BTC using the policy of the federal reserve as reference. Stating the value of Bitcoin in dollar might become relevant over time as monetary policy continues to erode consumers’ and investors’ purchasing power.

This brought me to my worries if is is right to attribute the slight growth in price as a result of the 2022 conference and what to expect after that of 2023.
11  Economy / Trading Discussion / If it was you on: February 16, 2023, 08:34:31 PM
Between future and spot trading which will you opt in for. For me i think it is better to start with spot trading gradually observe how the market respond over time before moving into future trading. Both are indeed volatile and risky but i think spot which involves immediate buying and holding until price goes up to sell at a profit is more easier to start than making prediction on a price to either go up or come down on a later date.

Spot can be a nice start for newbies from what i have seen from the market so far. Since it only entails buying and holding until the asset appreciates just that it will only require patience since little or no technical skill is needed although with technical skill the trader can have more advantage over the market.
12  Economy / Economics / I have resolved into buying more and caring less on: January 29, 2023, 02:48:35 PM
Everyone has drawn their resolution for the year as regard Bitcoin investment and more. Bitcoin is bound to do what it wants to do. And no matter where the direction of the market has chosen to point to, i will just buy until when i feel it has gone too high to keep buying.

I am longer paying attention to all the noise that comes with short term investment anymore. It is better to be in red on a short term than to lose out on big opportunities on a long term. If the market is selling at a low price i will buy, If it is buying at an uptrend i will still buy. The only difference is i will try not to buy too high because in all the buying profit is the target. The goal is not to get rich but to catch up with the next trend and ATH.

The fact is on a long run the market will do what it wants to do and not even the best analysis can change it from making its desired moves. Bitcoin long term prediction is becoming even more harder to make as external forces keep playing out in the market more often. Staying positive for long term goal has given so many good profit in time past and it won't be out of place if similar occurrence happens again on the long run

What do you think!!!
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / How Visible is your trading plan on: January 17, 2023, 09:03:04 PM
Making profit is the goal of every trader whether they are doing it right or wrong. All traders wish to pull out massive funds from trading but only a few care about some minor things that can help improve their trade and ensure they are implementing the right strategy for every trade they make.

Trading plan is one thing that cannot be neglected and for better result it best when it is visible. It is the vision a trader runs with. If a trader fails to plan such trader eventually plans to fail. When the heat of the market sets in we often forget our plans and trade from what ever our instinct suggests. But with a written plan it will be easier to set goals, targets, limits, strategies and expectations.

The more we see our plan the more we adapt to what it says, the more we understand our strategy and the clearer the result becomes. It helps in references on how productive those strategies are, if they need t be changed, improved upon or modified. Sometimes trading from our instinct come with so much emtions attached and we might want the market to do what we expect and not what it wants to do.

14  Economy / Gambling discussion / How do you handle your losses on: January 16, 2023, 06:07:55 PM
We all handle emotions differently, also the way each of us admit our losses differs. I love playing dice and blackjack on my favorite casino and have never had a big win, but I make sure not to chase my loss if I lose. I have learned to deal with losses, it wasn't easy from the beginning, but it gradually became part of me over time.

Not everyone is good at letting go of their loss. I used a four way strategy to train myself into admitting my loss:

First I draw a plan of how much I am willing to risk for any bet:
I so much believe everything starts with a plan. To avoid been carried away by my loss or urge of trying more chances I first plan how much I'm willing to risk and if it goes I pause to try again when next I have made new budgets.

I make sure I don't pay attention to the leader board:
I try my best to avoid this board because it can be tempting and compelling seeing how much a user cashed out the hungry to try a little luck might make me go against my plan

I ensure I drink enough water to reduce risk of heat stress :
I won't want to be under any compulsion or stress after a loss, so I make sure I drink water to stay hydrated, and it helps manage my mood even if I lost.

I ensure my emotion is in check:
I remind myself regularly that I am only having fun that can either be winning or loss, and what ever be the outcome it is for the fun of the moment and not a get rich quick scheme.

I avoid greedy friends
Friends play a big role in the character of a person. Someone who is never greedy can become greedy based on a friend's influence. I rather take a small win and walkaway than risk it all to lose even my win.

15  Other / Politics & Society / Ukrainians hijacks Russian Bitcoin, Donates it to Kyiv Charity on: January 06, 2023, 10:51:26 PM
Russian dark web where major drug dealers transacts using cryptocurrency got hacked by Ukrainians living in the US and they proceed was donated to Kyiv charity. A total of $25,000 worth of Bitcoin was moved from Solaris drug market’s master wallet and diverted to Ukrainian Humanitarian Charity.

The Ukrainian Cybersecurity expert Alex Holden who chose to play the dark web Robin Hood has refused to disclose how he did this. He only pointed that he was able to take full control of much of the internet infrastructure powering Solaris, an accountable percentage of administrator accounts been run on the illicit bazaar, the source code linked to the website as well as its users' database, including drop off locations for drug dealers. It is reported that for a period of time, his team took control of  Solaris' "master wallet." This happens to be the wallet buyers and dealers used for deposit and withdrawal of funds, which served as the exchange provider for this drug dealers

Holden showed Forbes multiple screenshots of access to Solaris admin accounts and the master wallet, and a Ukrainian cybersecurity expert confirmed the screenshots did indeed appear to show access to backend Solaris accounts.

With money quickly going in and out of the wallet, it rarely contained more than 3 bitcoin, worth $50,000, Holden said. That meant there wasn’t a huge amount for him to siphon off, though he did manage to grab 1.6 bitcoin, worth $25,000, and sent it to Enjoying Life. Hold Security is also making a separate donation of $8,000.

16  Economy / Speculation / Each time you see a red candle! on: January 06, 2023, 09:46:57 PM
The worst state of any investor is to be at long term loss. It comes with so much anxiety, anger, Fuddity, pressure, spoiled plans and many more ill happenings. But I see it as a time to abandon the old investment and focus on taking advantage of the bear moment seeking for new opportunities because as far as Bitcoin is concern there are new opportunities in every cycle. The beauty of an investment is in its quantity because with much quantity comes so much value.

One of the biggest issues Bitcoin buyers face is that they use money meant to solve an urgent need to invest and end up selling at a loss to meet up with the need. Investment is best done with funds that don't have used in the nearest future, I prefer to call it errand money and because it is an errand money it is not meant to return immediately so errand takes longer time before they get delivered. The beauty of Bitcoin is long term investment. Hodl until it turns green. If it is not green, it isn't ripe for harvest. Each time a red candle appears, it is a signal to look out for buying opportunities.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Be responsible for your coin on: December 12, 2022, 07:19:19 PM

I got this mail from Ray, the CEO of paxful today. It takes one who is determined to serve the public to give a warning like this, From all indication he is willing to be contented with trading commissions. More interestingly, they provide a lightening network for cheaper and quicker Bitcoin transactions straight to their cold wallets.

He did not just issue the warning sternly, he still took time to provide links explaining why his customers should hold their own coin except for day traders and an easy step to self custody, not many exchanges will do this for their customers.

Quote
Why? For far too long people have trusted others to hold money on our behalf but—like we saw with the banks in 2008 and recently with FTX—you’re at the mercy of these custodians and their morals 😓

However, Bitcoin has given us the chance to finally be in control, and we must take it. Rest assured, if you do wish to keep your Bitcoin on Paxful, your funds are safe with us, but remember—only keep what you want to trade! 🙏

18  Other / Meta / Auto-correct will improve communication on BTT on: December 05, 2022, 04:05:38 PM
I don't know if a thread similar to this has been created in the past. I did check but did not find any, so I had to bring it up.  It is not enough having ideas, communicating them in a manner the reader will understand and comprehend can be a bit challenging.

A script to autocorrect and making word suggestion will not only make conveying ideas easier, it will also improve the vocabularies of Bitcoin talkers. I know there are many websites that can improve one's writing and communication skills that I don't dispute, but learning can be done anywhere and with the increase in users improved communication can make the forum more outstanding.
19  Economy / Economics / SEC plans on making crypto initiative top priority as plot for new regulation!!! on: November 30, 2022, 08:57:25 PM
The U.S Securities and Exchange Commission disclosed some intended initiatives regarding crypto assets in its strategic plan for the fiscal years 2022-2026. This intended initiatives is aimed to address the SEC's top priorities for the next four years.

It boils down to developing and implementing some rigorous regulatory structures that will monitor the evolving market, business models, and technologies:

The aim of this strategic plan published by SEC for the fiscal year 2022-2026 is meant to

  • 'Address its top priorities over the next four years.”
  • “develop and implement a robust regulatory framework that keeps pace with evolving markets, business models, and technologies.”
  • “examine strategies to address systemic and infrastructure risks faced by the capital markets and the market participants.”
  • “Understand the rapid growth in crypto assets”
  • “recognize significant developments and trends in the evolving capital markets and adjust their activities accordingly.”

The next four years might comes with stricter regulations in the U.S for crypto investors

The chairman of the SEC, Gary Gensler, stressed:
Quote
The SEC pursues our three-part mission: to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation.

As far as i know there are no strategic plans the U.S will set up that will not involve consistent modification of regulations that will make investing in Bitcoin and crypto generally worth considering. Making stricter rules with claims to protect investors above other priorities.

20  Economy / Economics / Is a ban on Retirees Cypto Account a fair deal? on: November 28, 2022, 06:17:41 PM
New York Attorney General Letitia James in the bid to protect retirees from the dangers of investing in Crypto currencies, digital assets, digital tokens and digital coins has egged on  Congress to pass a law prohibiting crypto investments in retirement accounts.

Her point of concern is on the Individual retirement accounts(IRAs) and defined contribution plans, like 410(K0 plans and 457 plans for government workers, which has been the investment option for millions of Hardworking Americans after retirement. She sighted the recent development in financial institution where Bitcoin became an investment option in 410(k) plans, and other financial institutions expected to follow suit. With the recent downtimes in the crypto market and the market turbulence, Attorney General James  emphasised on the protection of workers' retirement funds and save them from the risk associated with cryptocurrencies.

Most of this retirees know absolutely nothing about how this digital assets work. The just trust this investment plans to make the right decision for them. Attorney General James is only been protective of her citizens to save them from the downtimes because the only depend on pensions for survival as such risking them on assets the can't control themselves can result to sudden death and heart failures. Because they will have to wait till the market becomes favourable to start making profit on their investments.
