41  Economy / Trading Discussion / Which rookie candidate will make a better trader and quickly too? on: April 02, 2022, 08:36:07 AM
I had this conversation with a friend about which rookie candidate will make a better trader and much quickly;

- Is it the candidate that learns trading from someone directly, that is - pay someone to teach them?

- Or the candidate that invest time into online resources to teach themselves?

Before you share your opinions, i'd like to share mine first;
I feel a better candidate will be the one who pays someone to teach them directly trading and the technical know-how, my reason being that, a direct teacher shares more than knowledge to you but their experience over the years as well unlike learning yourself which you may have to make your own mistakes, sometimes may be very costly.

What is your candid opinion on this subject?
42  Economy / Gambling discussion / Gender bias in gambling. on: March 26, 2022, 06:58:37 PM
There seems to be a bias in the opinions of people regarding gender and gambling. Most persons in my locale consider gambling as something more appropriate for males than females, who made that a law?

-In my locale, a man who is considered a compulsive gambler may be overlooked if he is doing well regardless, but a for a woman, regardless of her financial state, will be perceived and considered highly irresponsible if she is found in a betting or gambling place.

-A man who is known to be a gambler may still be considered for marriage by a woman, but if a woman is known to be compulsive gambler before marriage, most men will run from them or not even get close enough to consider them for marriage.

Why the bias? should gambling be only for Men?
43  Economy / Trading Discussion / Understanding "When" to trade. on: March 26, 2022, 04:07:46 PM
Knowing the HOW to trade is one thing, another is knowing the WHEN.
As a trader (crypto & forex), it is bad to trade every time the market opens up. The best and most profiting traders are not those that trade everyday, but take a targeted approach to trading.

For me, I know for sure that i do not like to trade on Mondays because that's when i take analysis to know which way the market will go for the week. Trading days for me are usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the market moves better on those days for me.

Some other times not to trade as well are;
- On holidays.
- During Major news events.
- When you are emotional unstable.
44  Other / Beginners & Help / Forum boards and moderators. on: March 19, 2022, 05:24:34 AM
Every board has a moderator, and i'm wondering how those users who are moderators became one.

-Was it by selection or by election?
-If it was by selection, is it a permanent selection till something happens to the user or a temporary selection that is done periodically?

-Say i aspire to become a moderator someday, is there any possibility to this, and if yes, what are the criteria's for this achievement?

45  Economy / Trading Discussion / Occupational hazards of trading crypto on: March 18, 2022, 02:50:13 PM
Many occupations are plagued with occupational hazards, that is long term effects of staying in a profession for a long time.

say for instance, For retired mechanical engineers who spent most of their active years working in places with heavy machinery with much noise, you'd notice how they always speak at the top of their voice and may have hearing defects.

For retired medical practitioners, due to long exposure to hospital environment that always has a particular smell, you observe that they may loose their sense of smell.

For Nuclear Engineers, they are at a higher risk of suffering the long term effects of radiation after retirement.

Aim of this Discuss
Trading of crypto full time as an occupation is fast becoming a trend, this discuss is to elucidate the long term effects associated with crypto trading so that forum members who are considering it as a career option can know what they should be expecting and how to avoid it.

The very first long-term occupational hazard i can think of is the development of High blood pressure...

What can you add to the list of dangers associated with making crypto trading a full time occupation?

46  Other / Politics & Society / Putin's invasion; Personal or National interest? on: February 28, 2022, 04:32:21 PM
We know how the Media can sometimes not be trusted and can come under heavy manipulation and influence people's opinions on specific matters, having this at the back of my mind, i can't help but wonder if there is a possibility that Putin has been painted as completely bad to the benefit of others who are in disagreement with him.

-Is Putin's issue with the west and Ukraine a personal issue or really a Matter of National interest?
-Do you think Putin's invasion was unprovoked?

(I want personal opinions and not media generated opinions)
47  Economy / Economics / Sanctions left and right, Can the Russian economy survive? on: February 28, 2022, 03:36:20 PM
With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, almost all sectors & big businesses in Russia have been hit with huge Sanctions against them both from the United States, the United Kingdom and other internationally related bodies. Sanctions have hit the Russian central bank, other small russian banks, big business and companies in Russia from airlines to manufacturing have been affected as well and many assets private and government owned has been frozen.

-Do you think Russia can survive, and how can they survive the harsh economic realities that they are about to experience? Are the sanctions sufficient to push Putin into a decision to stop the invasion?
48  Other / Politics & Society / What have we done and what can we do to help? on: February 27, 2022, 12:33:57 PM
We all speak of how this forum is one big family. A family to the best of my understanding supports one another through thick and thin. I'm concerned about our brothers and sisters in Ukraine who are members of this forum and have been displaced from homes for safety mainly and other reasons this period.

-What have members of this forum done individually and what can we do to assist our brothers & sisters from Ukraine?
49  Other / Meta / Fluent with multiple languages, can i join multiple local boards? on: February 21, 2022, 04:59:15 PM
I didn't expect to find this in the "FAQ" session of the Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ because it is not a common and frequently asked question. However for the benefit of people who may be in this unique position and will need clarity;

-If i can speak, understand and write correctly in two or more languages, can i be a member of multiple local boards and engage in their various local discussions in their respective languages? Is there any rule against it?

50  Economy / Gambling discussion / Gambling for fun alone? how true? on: February 21, 2022, 02:20:45 PM
Have you heard that some people gamble for fun and not necessarily to make money?

I find it hard to believe completely because who doesn't like to make some more money even if it is not needed.

If you knew the exact sum you were going to loose gambling, and you are the type that they say " gambles for fun", will you find it fun loosing that money still? will you return another day in awareness of how much you will loose and still want to loose for fun?

51  Other / Beginners & Help / Signature campaign earnings and monthly income. on: February 14, 2022, 03:29:17 PM
-Will you quit your job if in a month, you earn more from signature campaign than you do get from working 8am - 4pm?

-Is it okay to hinge your life on the earnings you get weekly from your signature campaigns?

-Has the existence of signature campaigns on this forum eliminated the need to work offline for other people?
52  Economy / Economics / Your opinion on side jobs on: February 11, 2022, 12:39:53 PM
General opinion is that a side job is one that supports the main income of an individual, often times perceived as something that brings little money to add to what you make from your day job. If Mr X earns better from a side job when compared to the income from his career option, does the side job still qualify to be called a side job?

53  Economy / Economics / Which business profit model do you prefer? on: January 29, 2022, 06:03:35 AM
I've been giving this a lot of thought lately, Which kind of  business model would you prefer, will you prefer the kind of business where profit can be  from both the rich and poor, that is huge profits occasionally and small profits daily?

 Or the the sort that only attends to the rich, and the poor cannot afford it, that is your profit is from the rich alone and usually huge, and comes occasionally?
Please give reasons for your choice
54  Other / Politics & Society / A vaccine buffet. on: January 27, 2022, 11:34:02 AM
You decide to get vaccinated and you visit the nearest government approved health center to take your shot of the COVID vaccine. These are all the vaccine options available;

Moderna - Which is approved for people who are  12 years and older, two standard dosage required.

Pfizer-BioNTech - Which is approved for people who are 5 years and older, two standard dosage required.

AstraZeneca - Which is approved for people who are 18 years and older, two standard dosage required.

Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) - Which is approved for people who are 18 years and older, one standard dosage required.

If you have the opportunity to select the vaccine you want to take? Which vaccines (give reasons) will you prefer as your first and second dosage? (Mixed dose schedules)

55  Other / Beginners & Help / The relationship between educational qualification and quality of post. on: January 24, 2022, 12:08:57 PM
Do you think the level of academic qualifications and life experience that a member of forum has, has a direct influence on the quality of post that  he/she makes here on this forum?
Do you feel users who are known to be quality posters in various boards are individuals with high educational qualifications and vast experience.
56  Economy / Gambling discussion / Teaching your kids to gamble. on: January 10, 2022, 01:47:38 PM
There is the case of increasing number of underaged gamblers, will you still teach your little kids to gamble?

The answer will be "no" for most users, but truth is that in reality, most parents who gamble teach their kids indirectly to gamble without knowing, how?

for Sports betting - You indirectly teach your kids to gamble when you leave open your online betting slips, and drop carelessly within the reach of the underaged your offline slip if you didn't bet online. Kids are very inquisitive and take cue from their parents and guardians easily.

You indirectly teach the underaged to gamble when you speak freely and excitedly about how you their parent or guardian placed some bets, visited a casino to have some fun and so on. (be careful what you say around the underaged, they learn quickly especially from someone they look up to.

You also contribute to the increasing cases of gambling when you hide answers about gambling from the underaged when asked. If your kids or any underaged around you becomes too curious about gambling, educate them and let them know the perils of underaged gambling and why it is for adults, answer their questions and clear their doubts, so they don't go find out about gambling themselves.

kindly bring to our notice other ways user's have unknowingly contributed to the increasing number of underaged gambling, so we can take corrections and make amends where necessary.
57  Economy / Gambling discussion / Opinion on increasing gambling. on: December 30, 2021, 01:04:26 PM
Based on rough analysis, it can be observed that gambling activity has increased when you compare the present and the past say a year before. Do we now have more gamblers because gambling is now possible online, made more easy and people can stay anonymous while gambling, or as a result of more persons getting to know about gambling? Has the harsh economic situation of some countries indirectly promoted gambling, turning more of its citizens to gamble in search of money?

What is your opinion on the increasing number of gamblers?

58  Other / Politics & Society / In preparation for the New year (2022) on: December 27, 2021, 02:40:35 PM
Make bigger plans and start working  towards them, remember, "if you fail to plan, you have planned to fail", a common saying.

Set targets and milestones for achievement - With targets, you know exactly what you are aiming at and hoping to achieve...you can assess the challenges and prepare yourself for them.

Work Smarter and harder - Be intentional, you did good this year, you can do better next year. If you did better, the coming year can be your best with a little more work. This requires physical effort and is a must because dreams so not work unless you do.

Improve on your mentality - Mentality matters a lot, that is the way we think. A big majority of outcomes in our lives are influenced by our thinking. What you think of often, you attract. Improve on your thinking which is your mentality, improve your life.
59  Other / Politics & Society / Christmas not Xmas. on: December 22, 2021, 03:25:57 AM
It is understandable when you don't believe in Christ and simply say "Happy Holidays", but you need correction as a believer in Christ if you say "Happy Xmas" instead of "Happy Christmas".

 Generally, "X" is a letter used to make an indication that something is unknown, Christ is the reason for the season, so why do you a believer in Christ say "Happy Xmas" instead of "Happy Christmas" when you already know the reason behind the christmas celebration?
Why have you replaced "Christ" with "X"?

60  Economy / Economics / Advice for the season. on: December 20, 2021, 04:38:30 AM
Don't bend to societal pressure of over spending during this festive season, make serious plans for the celebrations and the coming year, Don't fall into the trap or bend to the pressure of selling off a percentage of your cryptos to  spend this festive season, a new year is coming. January is usually a long month that carries along a lot of expenses, make plans and preparations now for tomorrow, spend wisely today.
