In the eyes of recent development that followed 2023 with the predicament of Chipmixer, came with a pouring of mixers. Not because most were not in existence but because of the shadow cast by the most popular on the forum at the time.
Then the lawsuit and there we have the mixer flood exposure.

It’s nothing new that the crypto space have got services that might be alienated to the rest of the world while being an adorned service by those who choose to embrace a new world order under construction. Some of the ideas is the very idea of cryptos itself, decentralized finance, blockchain and the idea of mixers in breaking the links between addresses.

Most ignorant and even know well individuals chooses to see cryptocurrency as a currency adorned by scammers and used for fraudulent activities else, what’s wrong in using fiat!
Worst still, the idea of mixers where you get to break the chain link in addresses to be more anonymous and private on your transactions and the question to the rest of those that don’t see the need is, why be private if not fraudulent.

There is nothing thing wrong in trying to keep your activities private and decentralized.
Security wise, it’s what you should be doing to avoid hack attempts as per phishing, brute forcing and more.


Now the case to this is:
Is this a typical case of you can’t eat your cake and have it?
Now, the case with Chipmixer carried that, mixers aid scammers in being invisible by eliminating traces. Now this is the Chief service of mixers, eliminating traces not just to those that might be looking but as well to themselves.

I have taken a look at some of the company policies of some of the mixers on the forum and established core areas the service to be:

(Note: Summed T&C are very much that, a brief of what is available on site and could be referenced on individual mixing sites)

- Zero collaboration with states of USA and EU nations to avert what might stern from there. Not even having to use service based on referral or have it from a discussion.
- Dissociates from activities that would or could cause violations and prohibited substances (Drugs & related).

Unfortunately, scammers are never going to rest until they get there next victim and even when the scheme seems saturated, they still try just to find that one ignorant person. It's the second time this year am getting approached by a scammer and this time, the scammer comes with a different tactics.

I got contacted by some u know user just hours ago. I would have loved the photo to be displayed but apparently, this is unlikely to be the user behind the mask and some innocent victim must have been used. I didn't engaged in any discussion with this person because, there is an obvious red flag about it. So, I received this message:

I must say, I'm not really good at these discoveries or can fully understand all that is presented before me but for a site that was just registered only a few days ago, has low volatility and someone comes to own so much on it already, it raises my caution.

NOTE: I never proceeded to do any form of business with them aside from research on the search after getting the anonymous message.

One key element to a scammer, especially one that doesn't prey on your emotions as in relationship scams is to use your greed against you. This has been there bane of success and here is a scammer trying to apply greed in a different way. Without going through the invest and get huge returns in minutes or few days, this scammer tries to stir up your greed to see if you would take the bate and try to steal from him/her while in fact, his or she could be either phishing for privacy details or maybe scam you through fees (My suspicion).

A thought for wonder if not scam, the why?
1. Why would a conscious crypto user on how vital privacy is to the system, would send someone his or her details erroneously and doesn't fail to delete almost immediately.
2. Why would the user be conscious of the fact that, details like this shouldn't be shared with anyone as confirmed in the last sentence of the screenshot and still proceeds to share it out to whom ever?

My thoughts is, this is another scheme in circle!

Facebook Likes/Emojis and Bitcointalk Merits

There have been misconceptions that seemed to have originated out of no where on the forum and continues to persist up till date. I for one once conceived that idea in my early days of the forum but, I later came to this realisation and haven't met it again, it pushed my creation of this thread.

After having some deep thoughts and comparison between Facebook likes/emoji and Merits, I come to realise that them both are completely different. It's accreditation and functionality takes different parts. A few of this conclusion as I have it are;

Differences Between Facebook likes/Emoji and Merits

1. Facebook likes and even emojis are used to demonstrate our emotions on a post (keyword: Emotions). While,
Merits: it's not just a whole system. A system of recognising and appreciating a post to be of good quality and worth the effort. Therefore, worthy of your admittance. (Keywords: Quality and appreciation)

2. Facebook likes are given on default and just owning an account entitles you to showing your emotions on a post. While,
Merits are given off on quality posts and you get Sendable Merits (Smerits) in return using the ratio (2 merits : 1 Smerit).
Also, there are those called merit sources that doesn't follow this pattern completely in getting them smerits. They are therefore given a certain amount of Smerits monthly to merit unappreciated posts on the forum. This too goes by a calculation that looks at your allocation and exhaustion.

3. Facebook likes and emojis are limitless on an account and you can give it off as you so please without getting exhausted. While,
Merits are limited both to users and merit source. You earn and give off Smerits, then you run out and also, you give off your allocations too early, you also get to run out.

4. Facebook likes and emoji are retrievable. While,
Merits are not. Once it's given off, that's it and for good too.

5. Facebook likes serves just one function only and that is, expression of emotions. While,
Merits are multi-taksed. Which brings us to some of the functions of merits.

Functions of Merits On Bitcointalkforum
These includes but not limited to:
- Post appreciation
- Check mate spams as, spam posts aren't merited
- Encourages quality posting while, discouraging spamming and shit posting
- works in conjunction with activities to determine forum rank
- It serves like a pointer to the sort of discussion that is of interest on the forum

Similarities Between Merits and Facebook likes/emoji
- They both carry a message about a post which could range from Happy to Sad.

Why are Merits desirable on the forum;
It's because they aid you scale the ranks and in turn, benefit from the opportunities that follows ranks such as;
* Signatures,
* Opening of special forum icons/functions,
* It presents your account as High stake therefore puts you out for business,
* Loan facilities accreditation,
* Your respones is looked upon sort out for by silent followers and could be seen as words from experience.

Who are those that gets merited?
People or accounts don't get merited but posts do. Therefore, the correct question here should be; what sort of posts gets merited? and the simple answer to that is, a QUALITY POST. Now, the tricky thing behind a quality posts is becuase, it's persons specific (Subject to individual Judgment), making it difficult to create a standard of it. Hence, the Merits are given upon a post as a user pleases.

How to make a quality post?
It should be pretty informative and on point. Organisation of your post into an easy read helps too.

Most importantly, it is of best interest not to just earn merits and scale the ranks but to learn as you go while looking out for ways to apply them.

Sometimes, you wonder why people fall for cheap scams?
You know and feel this has been done one too many times that every single individual on the planet of proper age and capable of making an investment should be aware of. Unfortunately, where ignorance resides, a sad story is likely to always follow.

Over the weekend, on Thursday to be precise, a scammer approached me with a known account on Facebook messenger and tried to run a scam scheme on me. As usual, with some super or too good to be true promises of doubling your investments in 45 minutes. I wonder how they even come up with these too good to be true promises and expect people yo fall for it. Fortunately for them, some people still do and I say this becuase, the owner of the account I was contacted with did and that's how, her account and money where chartered away.

It no longer ends with the money you fund them with in choosing an investment plan people, your details as you input them are used to hack your social media accounts and use reputation to make contacts with your friends in search of a potential victim.

Here is a screenshot of the discussion that ensured between myself and the scammer in possession of my friend's account.

Also, a copy of a fake Credit alert to a local bank account belonging to the hacked users account to make the trick more convincing. I covered the users name with the blue lines whole, the scammer covered the users balance

Also, the scammer crafted a wall of text that was reflected on the users status as a form of awareness campaign.

Using this trick, this friend of mine was scammed of $100 and got her account hacked as well to try same trick on her friends being myself and others. Fortunately for me, beauty has got no place with me when it comes to investment and I am very much aware of these diluted tricks. It even claims to be legally registered!

Anyway, the scammer tried to be persuasive and even promised to test me out by making a $18 investment on my behalf and upon getting my profit, I was to refund the capital. All that was needed was my local bank account details and working phone number (You could see that in the screenshot above but not my details though). Of course, I gave those out, its not a private detail and no harm could come off it. It's been 2days now and the scammer is yet to make contacts with me, lol!

Things to note and conclude on this to be a scam
1. Too good to be true promises (X2 of invested capital and more still, in 45 minutes). Its a red flag.
2. The faked alert has got no session identity number (hence, transaction isn't verifiable). Red flag.
3. Whom ever could double his or her capital in 45 minutes won't contact you on social media (that's some rich fellow and you should sort them out). Red flag.

CAUTION

* Never be in a hurry to invest.
* Never pick up ponzi schemes for an investment package.
*Avoid too good to be true investment plans
* when contacted with a known account on social media, contact the users cell phone number if trusted to be sure.
* Always separate business from pleasure, the two doesn't go.

One way to help out to further dilute this scheme and save others from falling into these scams, write a scam notification on your page, tag the hacked user and a lot of other friends before posting. That way, the post would be displayed on all your pages and the public would be cautious.

Scammers are out there and so we all should be warned!

I might be wrong but my ideas about bitcointalkforum was that, its first and foremost, a learning field before it accommodates other forms of activities that could result in an individual earning some passive income.

I am at the verge of learning even more right now, haven't been previously absent from the forum following certain events of last year, events that i hinted in this post: What happened to my motivation but, I'm here now and have taken to reading and exploring the forum. I might understand why some ideas are left to persist on the forum like, buying of accounts although discouraged, buying a corper membership, allowing scam accused platforms to run a signature on the forum but, there is one I don't really feel in way is indirectly against forum ethics or the core value of this idea.

To present this more accurately, I would direct our minds back to the word 'SPAMMING'.

Spamming as I understand it, applies to when a user posts contents just for the sake of posting and is not really interested in the discussion. Also, when a user posts concurrently and so forth. If you agree with me, that's a forum rule and I think I have been met by a service that would encourage that and I don't buy into the idea. I'll go straight to it right now because, I'm getting all emotional about it all of a sudden. Here is what prompted my post all of a sudden.

Yeah, I see the negative Feedback on the account that saw it need to promote such service but, it in the context of preventing the damage before its made manifest, it doesn't seem enough. I don't know what to suggest but at least, simply deleting the thread from gaining awareness could be in th right order. What's more shameful about it is that, its a Hero Member account that is behind it all.

In regard of services, this is more damaging to the forum and I'll give reasons in no particular order.

1. It discourages the learning idea of this forum, either users still sticks to the part of not.
2. It seems to encourage spam either directly or otherwise.
3. It cheats or is knowledge depriving and discourages forum participation on the parts of other users (in the sense that: the user rendering the service might take the time out to be building his or herself by being involved on discussions while, the user employing such service won't).
4. It encourages only a sole idea (that of the service provider), displayed across other accounts.
5. It would encourage buying and creation of alt accounts.

I'll like to keep it brief so, I'll live it here. Although, I still say it now that such threads shouldn't be allowed to gain publicity or persist on the forum. The account has been tagged but still, it gains contacts and you know why?

* Your paying half in services rendered and complete only at the week ending (that seems fair).
* It doesn't ask for your account details (username, password, mail address or wallet address).
* It sticks to privacy and it activities starts outside the forum.

Still, I would like to warn those employing such services that, its not in your best interest.

_ It always gets real when it comes to writing and people do run out of ideas. In times like that, a plagiarised content can be sent to you or even, a content sent to other users that employs such service might be sent to you and by posting a content that had originally been posted on the forum, it would be seen as plagiarism. This you would be sure that, forum rules would apply.
_ You would be depriving yourself of knowledge the forum teaches.

IN CONCLUSION:
By virtue of my bringing this thread to meta by creating OP, I might have created some awareness of the said service by bringing it further to the people but, it is my wish that, the forum might find a permanent solution to tackle issues such as these, that could undermine the integrity and erode the values of the forum. Lets do our best to put the forum first and haven't said all these, live you to it.

Hi guys,

I am finding it difficult on the best way to start this thread but, I start where I do now and it's been a while I was greatly involved on this platform. I guess I'm getting back to my fit but to say the least, i have been a user on the forum for almost a year now and have made far a little progress. At a time, the forum felt like the best place to be and I was learning at a great pace until disaster struck in an illness that wasn't brief.

I wouldn't want to discuss that but, it took a few months to get back to my fit and it didn't just end there.

Come the illness, went my job and its really sad how a company you work for treat your absence despite your predicament. Its not like I never knew this but, hadn't experienced it and its such a sad reality that is better heard than felt. Until you experience it, you never know how it truly feels to be your own person on every end.
Anyway, I'llness and lost job did put out most of my finance and then came some bad investments in a bid to recover what have been lost. Tried some harsh trading skills and it downed on me in ways I never imagined. Lots and lots of lessons came with all these sad experiences but some of the best of them was;

* Always be your own man and that's what Bitcoin offers
* Side hustles or jobs of which you stand as the boss might be the thing that truly stands in the long run
* Your company values profit more than they do you
* Make long term investments and always starch something away for emergencies

I've got a lot more but, let me hold it there.
The bottom line of these whole story is, with all these set-backs to my forward, left most of my motivation towards Bitcoin or Cryptos for a whole.

THOUGHTS THAT OCCURS TO ME:
1. I just think to myself, what's the point when you can loose it all in one bad move.
2. Cryptos might be the way but fiat and all things tangible would still be around and sticking with them could be winning too.
3. Is one not involved in cryptos making some bad decisions.

Even in all these thoughts, I still understand that cryptos is the future, it has made some reach and others poor. It all depends on the side you fall in all these and that's entirely based on your investment judgements. One who makes a bad decision in cryptis could do the same in every other field of human endeavor.

CONCLUSION
I guess my issue now is, where to find my motivation or enthusiasm for cryptos because, most of it is gone. If you've got any story or clue on how you got back up after falling in this regard, please share. Your thoughts on how to stand would be helpful and you can be rest assured that I would be paying a keen attention to this thread. Its my hope that others in the same predicament can learn and be encouraged by the thread and the responses that would follow. Thank you.

You don't have to be earning $1m before you be rich you can have that amount and if you don't have a good investment platform it's very possible that you'll return to the broke stage you left. The importance of investment is so clear that I get shell shock when I found out many people don't even have an idea about that talk more carrying out. For instance covid-19 took everybody unaware many lost their job, financially people and organization was affected, but let me tell those who had a good investment platform will not be affected that much, many think you need a huge amount of money before they could consider doing investment.
You can stay with a little but if you can discipline yourself couple with you having a good investment platform that implies you're already planning for Future.
The role of investment can't be over-emphasize, we all should  cultivate that habit and most importantly we should read to k or consult an expert so you can be assured you're doing a nice investment.

I know the bitcoin address is a public one compared to its key that appears to be private but then,

Is it really necessary to put it up in your profile?
Doesn't it feel like putting yourself in harms way?

I've seen a couple of posts talking about brute forcing a wallet by hackers and scammers in a bid to open it up. I'm yet to hear a success testimonial in the complaints of an affected user though i wish not for such thing but,

Isn't it best not to put yourself in harms way by not publicising it without due course?
Aside from brute forcing and other means of attempted hack, should your identity be compromised and the contents of your wallet is known, it makes you a target and that shit isn't fun.

So I got my very first Merit

I have viewed merit to be very difficult to have until I found out I've got one already. I didn't even notice it at first because, my mind wasn't there, I just came to the forum to search for information as it is my best chance of getting familiar with Bitcoin and the forum and just then, I noticed I've got one. Though it's just a single one, I'm very much excited. It tells me I'm going somewhere if I acquire the right attitude. I just hope I don't loose site of my vision of the forum.

Most of us have viewed merit to be so difficult to get but I've got my first one. It's a sign that, though merit is very valuable here as it works in a way to increase your rank and as such, it's given only to deserving members, it is also surprising that this merits are given off freely despite it's valuable nature. Just about now, I read a post on how to get merits by a fellow beginner and though not so much a write up, the fellow made merit seem strange and difficult. Well, I guess I'm yet to be in the fellows shoes but from what I've read so far, I came up with my own definition or illustration of merit.

So, I linked merit to social media likes (just as you like a photo or video on facebook) though not exactly but then, you only or mostly like only photos or videos that are interesting or catchy to you. That's how merits work as far as I understand it for now. It is only given not to you but to your deserving posts or comments. It's a way to say I like this for me and it's good. I just hope I'm on point in this or get the right idea.
