1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Random GPU going down and restarting days later? on: September 28, 2011, 11:46:38 PM
I have 18 Cores mining for me and almost every day a different one goes down and then, if not touched, goes back up later.

If I didn't touch this it would come back hours later, and likely another would go down.

I'm Using Linux Ubunutu 11.06 on all machines.  Some are ADM32s others are Intells 2100s, my parameters are usuall worksize=258, aggresion=8, askrate=10, BFI_INT, Vectors and I'm mining with Pheonix.

Any ideas?
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / Intense Watercooled Triple 5970, Can see, but not use cards on: August 28, 2011, 09:08:38 PM
I have 64 bit ubuntu 11.4 and my aticonfig shows Adapter 0 and 1 as having core speeds and core temps, but I can only mine using device ID 1, Adapter 2,3,4,5 say ''Error cannot get core speed''

Is this a driver issue? I can only mine on 1/6 cores, Im using Phoenix miner.
3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Run in root? Server X?? on: August 16, 2011, 06:44:37 PM
What does this mean??

bit@Bit:~$ aticonfig --odgc --adapter=all
aticonfig: This program must be run as root when no X server is active

I just bought a new computer, had a computer shop make it, and went through all the steps but I can't tell what number my GPUs are.  I am mining successfully on my CPU so it works, but why won't my cards show up?

5  Economy / Services / Selling $100 google adword cert 1 BTC on: August 10, 2011, 02:27:35 AM
I think this is way under market I am asking, if this makes sense to anyone please let me know. Hoping to give $100 worth of adwords for 1BTC.

My address below is outdated so let's chat before you accept. If this is as good as a deal as I think I'll take the first offer rather than make this an auction.
6  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Is there a guide for adding GPUs thrugh extenders/adapters? on: August 08, 2011, 08:16:41 PM
I have all the hardware to run cards trough PCI and PCIE1 slots but I am not able to see when when I search through the ubuntu terminals. Is there a guide anywhere?
7  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Do we know how to get 3MH per $1.00 yet? on: August 01, 2011, 06:56:01 PM
We can get 2MH/$ by using 5850s, buy has anyone found a hardware set using PCI > PCIE16s, PCI1 > PCIE16s and stuff like that that makes your total out lay on dollars get you about 3 megahashs per dollar?

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Missing BitCoins on: July 27, 2011, 01:31:15 PM
I travel for a living and am often away from my main desktop computer.  I setup the BC client with that computer, generated a few pay to addresses practiced with a +.01 transaction and then sent off the same .01 to see how it worked to and from 15kzjgzR862L2vLWNb5P7fBCXwxatsUpkr.

I uninstalled the bitcoin client and forgot that I did that LOL, while all the time learning to mine and sending coins to the address which was generated from the uninstalled client weeks before.

I sent over 4 coins to it in the last month, and when I connected back to the desktop I realized the program was gone. I re-installed it and it came up with my same original public key. It also still had record of the +.01 and the -.01. But my balance showed 0.0 not 4.

If you search blockexplorer for my public key 15kzjgzR862L2vLWNb5P7fBCXwxatsUpkr here:
http://blockexplorer.com/address/15kzjgzR862L2vLWNb5P7fBCXwxatsUpkr

You can see that the blockchain shows that that public key's balance is above 4BTC currently, though I can not see any BTC in my wallet.

I tried a file recovery software to get my wallet.dat but could not find it. I also tried sending out BC from the client to see if the coins recognized on the block chain could be sent elsewhere, they could not due to my client not allowing it.

I am hoping that I would be able to use another method of sending those 4 BC to a new wallet, but is that impossible since my public and private key pairs can't match up after a reinstall? Definitely an odd problem, I am going to try a system restore to see if I can get it working.

10  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / MoBo Max Card Capacity? on: July 23, 2011, 07:04:07 AM
I am just gettin into this and find it amazing, I am hoping to get a few more moterboards and use extenders, converters, and risers to get as many PUs as I can in per board, all individually powered by PSUs.

Are there any motherboards in particular that get singled out in buildin rigs? One that just holds more than most or is cheapest by comparison?
11  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / How to tell how much Power a PSU is using? on: July 21, 2011, 03:06:32 PM
I have an 850W powering 2 5970s, 3 out of the 4 cores are overclocked, ones just too hot.

If my electric is billed at $0.117 KW/Hour I can find my monthly electric cost by .85 X .117 X 24 X 30 = 71.6
My KW, X electric cost, X hours in a day, X days in a month.

But if I move up to a 1250PSU I can theoretically OC more and get more use from everything, currently my computer freezes at an OC or 900/1000, but are stable at 800/1000.

I am not sure if any additional OC I can do with a 1250W is worth paying $105.3 a month.

Can an increase to a 1250 PSU from a 850 PSU generate enough OC ability to make up for $35/mo in electric?

Any thoughts?
12  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / I up my peaks on my 5970s and I crash on: July 21, 2011, 10:17:42 AM
My listed peaks are 725/1000 and can overclock both 5970s to 800/1000 but if I choose 900/1000 everything freezes.  I am running a 850 PSU, which I, swa, pping for a 1250 next week.  Is this the cause? Or is something else preventing proper overclocking?
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Getting Ubuntu on a second Rig - No Hard Disk Detected? on: July 20, 2011, 02:03:14 PM
Hey guys, I got ubuntu setup on a new computer with 1 5830 using a USB drive as a bootable disk so I am a little versed in how it should go.  I just setup another tower which has 2 5970, its setup on an ASROck67 Extreme 4 MB, Intell 140 Processor, and some 250gig hardrive.

I bought everything new and had a computer shop build this. Everytime I boot this it says No hard disk detected, I took it back to the shop and they added some drivers and said it was running but I can not get it to see the harddrive. Any ideas? The harddrive was not shipped to me, I bought it retail.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Please help - Trying to get BitCoin going in Ubuntu on: July 01, 2011, 02:11:15 AM
I had a computer shop build me a cheap $600 build around a ATI 5830 and just installed Ubuntu via USB, this computer does not have internet so everything is going on through USB.

If someone can be there as a sounding board for my issues I'd really appreciate it and I''ll give everything I have generated in Bitcoinplus.com over the last week. BTC0.01.

I put the file bitcoin-0.3.23-linux.tar.gz onto the USB, and see it in ubuntu when I plug it in. What are the next steps to take? Double clicking and Extracting are not getting it running.  Is it because I'm using the Natty version of Ubuntu and they aren't compatible?

16  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Does a node need to be connected to the Internet to generate blocks? on: July 01, 2011, 01:10:26 AM
It would make common sense that it would, but you never know.  Is there a way to download the current list of blocks into a client and have a PU run offline until it figures out a new block then check to see if that block was made by the rest of the world first? Or is this a 'Perma internet connection' skill.?
