2  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin Price Alerts on: November 29, 2012, 05:59:42 AM
We have dumped hundreds of hours into a program that does Bitcoin backtesting with various bar lengths (min, hours, double hour, etc) with live and historical data. Profitable algorithms have been tested based on industry standard trading indicators like:
  • StochRSI
  • William's %R
  • Money Flow Index (MFI)
  • Detrended Price Oscillator (DPO)

After the backtests proved comfortable returns, we hooked up email/SMS alerts to notify when to make trades. The last few months have been very financially rewarding, but that isn't why we wrote this.

We wrote this, because Bitcoins are awesome, we love programming, and we love financial trading.
In future versions, we plan on adding:
  • Hourly Price Text Messages
  • More Algorithms (of course)
  • Automatic trading on MTGox
  • Thorough documentation on how each indicator/algorithm works
  • Open sourcing algorithms to allow user contribution

We are turning our hard work into a website for others to learn about Bitcoin trading and how to effectively trade bitcoins ahead of the market.

If you are interested in a free 3 month subscription, sign up on our launch page and we will keep you informed when our site goes live!
3  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin Trade Indicators on: July 13, 2012, 11:45:12 PM
I am in the process of developing a free public bitcoin trade indicators website.  This site is similar to, but with a strong focus on market prediction.  I will be launching the beta in the next 3-4 weeks.

I currently have incorporated these indicators:

  • AccumDist
  • AveragePrice
  • CumDown/CumUp
  • MFI
  • MoneyFlow
  • ROC
  • RSI
  • RSquared
  • StochRSI
  • WilliamsR

For the curious, this is a preliminary design

1) Would you use this website?  If not, what do you use instead to perform market predictions?
2) Are there any other indicators you would be interested in seeing calculated?

What is the communities opinion on algorithmic trading?
6  Economy / Economics / Selling bitcoin trading bots on: July 11, 2011, 04:39:55 PM
I am thinking about writing and publicly posting a trading bot (with source code), just to help new traders get started with writing their own scripts and accept donations of course Smiley.  Is there a particular language people would prefer I write it in?  I currently have some form of it in C# and Python.  But I could port it to Java, C++, or something else?

7  Economy / Economics / Image of my Trading Bot (and it's low power!) on: July 07, 2011, 10:28:01 PM
I just wanted to share a picture of my trading bot.  It has been online for about 2 weeks now and has gotten me more money than my mining equipment.

I wrote my script in Python and moved it to the Chumpy via USB.  It's the only computer I have that I can leave on 24/7. :-/

I am currently working on writing my own bitcoin trading bot.  I just want to know, is it possible?

My latest version can only beat the market by a very narrow percent, assuming perfect market conditions.
