The merger event is considered to be the most anticipated event of the crypto market in 2022 and this will be an opportunity for scammers to do their thing. 📢 Here are 5 common scam tips that newbies need to avoid Fake Pool Staking:ETH is upgraded to PoS, which means a large amount of ETH will be staked. Surely after the merger, there will be many staking pools with high APY created to hit people's greed. To be able to participate in staking requires a very large amount of ETH, 32 ETH. Scammers will take advantage of this to create smaller pools to attract people who want to bet but do not have a minimum amount of ETH. 📌Note: always fully understand the origin and reputation of pool/dapp staking. Scam Airdrop:Scammers will create fake tokens like ETH2.0, ETHW1… to trick users, if they want to receive the airdrop, then log in to a strange link or transfer an amount of ETH to receive the airdrop. 📌Note: Do not touch or interact with any strange tokens sent to your wallet. Upgrade Scam:For ETH upgrade, users will not need to do anything to switch to the POS network, our job is to hold ETH in a wallet or exchange. But many people won't know this and they fear losing their ETH if they don't convert to the POS network. This way, the scammer will give us a strange link, the website will ask for the secret phrase to complete the upgrade to the POS. This is a fairly common form of scam, when we log into a fake website it always asks us to enter the secret phrase. 📌Note: Never click on any strange links or websites. Support Scam:After the merge ends, there are still many people who still do not understand and do not know about the fork. These audiences are newbies to the market from 2020-2021 who have never experienced Forks or halving events before. Scammers will take advantage of this to pretend to be fake support through social networks to contact investors. 📌Note: Don't give the seed phrase to anyone, even reputable parties, if it was Vitalik Buterin we wouldn't give it to him either :P ;D Replay Attack: Means allowing scammers to repeat your transaction from ETH PoW to PoS. It's been a year since ElSalvador took the bold step of becoming the first country in the world to accept Bitcoin as a legal tender. The market is going through bad days so a lot of people think that ElSalvador failed, defaulted when accepting Bitcoin... but I think they were too hasty in judging someone. We all know Bitcoin is a long term investment measured in years, so to know if someone will fail or succeed in investing in Bitcoin give them a few years time. There's no denying that ElSalvador's investment is losing money, but that's when you're talking USD value, not Bitcoin. ElSalvador bought a total of 2,381 BTC and their Bitcoins remained unchanged. We always tell each other that 1BTC = 1BTC, if you don't sell, you won't lose, why rush to conclude that they failed, when they haven't sold any Bitcoins yet? It can be said that this country has never given up, they are still on the way to building their "Bitcoin City" ❤. It doesn't matter when you enter the market, it matters how long you stay ElSalvador has been trying to make Bitcoin mass adoption and we, Bitcoiners, instead of denigrating or laughing at them, we should wish them success one day. Once they succeed, they will be a big impetus for other countries to move towards mass Bitcoin adoption. Congratulations once again #BitcoinDayAtElSalvador.

It looks like Bytecent is going off the rails; I'm never sure how much is public/private with Twitter but check out the back and forth between @IconicExport and that Romanian Twitter celeb girl @manelecrypto. She's ever so politely putting his toes to the fire; IE and his sockpuppets are not liking it ... I took a gamble with this coin because it was going really well but the whole project looks it like it started going to hell over the Thanksgiving holiday. Dammit.

There's this guy in Palo Alto who uses a RadioShack TRS80 Color computer to create these line-drawings of a mouse doing stuff in front of a 70s looking suburban house like watering the grass, mowing the lawn, drinking a beer, etc. He prints them out on an old dot matrix printer. It is pretty banal and silly except that apparently high level tech execs are paying huge bucks for him to fire up the TRS80 and do a mouse pic for them.
I do IT and my buddy's father is a rich guy in the Philippines who wants a mouse and asked me to find out about the artist. I'm drawing a complete blank: there's nothing on Google or anywhere. I know it is real because one of my firm's clients is one of those big companies and I saw these things in a couple of execs' offices framed up like the Mona Lisa. I couldn't ask anything because these were client meetings and that would have pissed of the lawyers. Does anyone know anything? It is CG albeit in a kind of way early 80s retro style ...

Check out Pandacoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=568529.4520Interesting stuff going on, either this is the next Dogecoin or nothing at all. Devs are promising great stuff this weekend but there's no IPO, no pre-mine, no ICO and the price is so low that they wouldn't make anything dumping on the hype. There's a very different vibe in their Forum. Pandacoin is like Dogecoin without socialist hippies in charge.

This is just getting ridiculous. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=643028.1200 And this guy even gave out his real name and contact information. Bittrex really needs to put in some kind of vetting process. I think this is the 4th scam meltdown in a week or something. I managed to turn 2 dollars into 1 before I got out at the last moment. They almost got me too, what with the legit looking functional website, reasonable sounding plan and even phone numbers! The real masters of the universe are the Urocoin people. Every Monday they Photoshop up some "official" document from India or somewhere from some company taking their ~$2.15 or so coin for multi-million dollar shipments of Urea. Then they move coins around to make it look like 12,500 Uro orders are piling up. Every now and then they even have the dev on video. I've made some nice money on the pumps, feel sorry people who just can't see the truth. Feels like this little "industry" is dying day-by-day. To much BS, too many scams, too many lies. I had hope for Vootcoin. They looked like they were creating a whole infrastructure with Cloud storage, an anon market and an anon exchange. But somehow nothing ever seems to actually happen and the ETAs get more-and-more-vague. There was also weird dev drama. Sad. Might be that they're manipulating the value down to accumulate but those are the thoughts of bag-holder in denial.w I just wish some team or group would realize that they could make much much more money by actually doing something honest and pushing it through. They'd make millions. Idiotic short-term scammer thinking will (if it already hasn't) killed crypto.

The growth of altcoins is very similar to the explosive growth of dotcoms 10 years ago. At that time, promising dotcoms that complimented each other would merge. As an example of how this could happen, let's take XC and Silkcoin. XC has a promising anon feature along with an average wallet while Silkcoin has a beautiful high tech wallet but no anon feature. A "Silkxc" would be very competitive if it could be done. The holders of the coin with the least value with receive an equivalent of the coin of the higher value at the time of the merger. Any reason why this kind of thing can't work? And there's no reason why Silkxc could not merge with Razor to add tor to the anon feature and with Dogecoin for meme power. "Razordoge-X" anyone?

How come none of the pump-crews have put the touch on Pandacoin (PND)? Panda has been sitting there fat and pretty right at spot 30 to 50 on Coinmarketcap for a month (which is like 1000 years in altcoin time), POS, X11 multipool, super low price, strong community, developers who seem to know what they're doing (they brought Panda back from the dead), no tech problems. Instead the pump crews go right for the Yellowcoin, the Orangecoin, Whitecoin, whatever the color of the day is. Another good target would be good old Flappycoin down in litoshi land. With both coins it would be really easy to be a great white whale for chump change. Both might even be strong enough to retain value after a huge pump ... Full disclosure, I have lots of both and not as a bag holder; I actually still actively mine them as a low key really long term side project in addition to regular investments in the usual coins. I couldn't believe it when I saw Panda up above Cinni for a couple of days

Could people here who really know about anon transactions take a look at this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=624017.msg7133592#msg7133592I don't know enough to say if this is BS or if they really have something. It would be pretty funny if some silly color-coin memed around girls in pink hot pants actually pulled off what Dark and XC (+ that scamcoin Cryptcoin) have been fighting about all this time. Stranger things have happened, I guess. It looks like real programmers might have taken over from pump/dump scam crew that originally set-up the coin but kept the meme thing going. I am more on the investment side; I was in Dark but (lucklily, considering today's charts) dumped out after all that drama from yesterday.

Darkcoin has to formally respond to this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=637195.0Darkcoin isn't a dorm room project anymore, it is an organization or entity worth tens of millions of dollars. Individuals and organizations are set to pour real money into it; they have a chance to unseat bitcoin at some point and make lots of people rich. However, when a company gets this big they musl immediately answer and refute this kind of thing. Pictures of ham, snarky jokes, insults to the poster (even if in my opinion justified) just don't cut it with so much money on the line. It would be good to know who are the people behind Darkcoin, their backgrounds, etc. in the same way we know who runs Google or Yahoo. Their programmers or PR people or whatever need to get on here and tear that newbie FUDster to shreds beyond a shadow of a doubt. I'm dumping my investment until we hear something; it might cost me to buy back in later but I think the sky is the limit for Dark anyway so I figure I'll still come out way way ahead even I have to take a few steps back for a couple of days. Better than risking loosing everything if the whole set-up melts down.

I'm confused about the whole anonymous coin/wallet thing. There's so much PR crap, FUB, moontalk, etc. I can't figure out what's the real deal. These four coins rise out of the murk as the leaders. I might be wrong, but with hundreds of coins whoever has the best marketing gets mindshare.
Darkcoin: anonymous transactions (I thought was first for wallet/transactions didn't realize there was a difference. Something bad happened this weekend though.)
XC:anonymous wallet (claim to be the first, haven't heard anyone calling bullshit yet)
Cinni:working on anonymous wallet (supposedly hire two master coders to do this)
Pandacoin:working on anonymous wallet (in their OP and thread this is mentioned but not hyped)
Libertycoin:they make liberal use of anonymous as a buzzword but nothing really going on in that direction. I think. Buzzword hypnosis.
What's the difference between and anon wallet and anon transactions? Who else should be on the list?

Check out Juggalocoin: It has 81% of the trading volume on Europex.eu. Full disclosure, I've mined this so I'm not disintrested. Still, 81% of an exchange's volume is something I've never seen before.

It looks like all of the Talesfromthescrypt pools are dead (I checked a bunch of them and none loaded.) Anyone have any info? I was just about to withdraw some coins from one of their pools when it went down. They've had problems all week. The stratum for my coin is down as well. If they closed shop it was really not cool to not let people withdraw any coins they had on them. (I'm smart enough not to store my coins on pools but I do manual withdraws every few hours or so).

Juggalocoin will be huge
I think Juggalocoin is going to be the biggest thing when it releases assuming it doesn't get messed up. People laugh that the Juggalos can not handle something this sophisticated. What they don't realize is that the Juggalos are mostly well off suburbanites who are into a certain music style.
It takes lots of disposable income to buy the gear, travel across the country to the gatherings, buy the music and even more to buy the recreational substances they enjoy in large quantities.
Watch the Juggalo videos on line: look beyond the jargon, shirtlessness, etc. and see the hot (naked) chicks, perfect teeth, fit or overly well fed bods, decent cars, clean clothes and gear, etc.
The coin has been announced for about a week and hasn't been denounced as a fake. The dev "Papa Nutt" has answered all questions about the coin. Compare this the BS associated with that abortion Mazacoin.
Even if the Juggalos don't have some kind of internal corporate structure they would have swarmed the forums and called this guy out if this thing wasn't legit. They're like that and just don't tolerate posers.
The main stream media on this thing is amazing, more than Dogecoin at this point and way more than anything else other that Bitcoin. The coin will drop into their mini-economy of Gatherings and concerts and get immediate real world use.
Unless there's a screw-up or some news about something fishy I'm definitely getting into this when it goes official.

The nature of cryptocurrency and resulting problems for Dogecoin
Cryptocurrencies are not currency (yet)
It is a mistake to think of cryptocurrencies as currency yet. Fiat's infrastructure, robustness, regulation and make using a dollar to buy something easier than to use Dogecoin or any other altcoin including bitcoin.
The infrastructure behind cryptos is strengthening everyday but building it out will take decades. Here is something I just did instantly with fiat that just isn't possible with crypto. I was in a small city in Bulgaria. I wanted to buy a candy bar. I had no Bulgarian money at the moment. I have a US ATM card. I went to an ATM on the corner, and took out 20 Bulgarian Lev. The machine/network did the exchange rate for me. I wasn't too bad. I then went to buy my candy bar. When you can do this same 5 minute transaction with crypto on a busy main street in a foreign country with nothing more than an ATM card then cryptocurrencies can be called "currencies".
Cryptocurrencies are akin to divisible corporate shares
Cryptocurrencies are more like corporate stock that is divisible and can be used to make direct purchases if the right infrastructure is available. Image if you could go to Panda Express and use some Google stock to buy lunch. The main purpose of Google stock, of course, is an investment that holds and hopefully gains value.
In reality a single share in a corporation is not divisible. However, bitcoins, dogecoins, etc. are. One can have a big investment portfolio of crypts, dream of them rising in worth and hope that they retain value. One can also with some hassle use them to buy a new car or to pay for a vacation.
Problems for Dogecoin
Dogecoin has the ideal of being a currency and the Dogecoin community trends against using the altcoin as an investment vehicle. The devs and the community have taken direct steps to slow/hinder Dogecoin's use for investment. They incorporated inflation into their coin meaning that the value of Dogecoins someone olds will trend down because the supply is infinite. They have resisted implementing various new technologies to stymie multipools. They have resisted dual mining with Litecoin. They have refused ideas re capping or reducing the amount of coins.
As a result, the value of Dogecoin has shown a progressive sapping of value over time despite the active passionate community, daily major media coverage, dedicated devs and strong positive mind share in that part of the general public aware of cryptos. They have managed to bring segments of the population (women, older people) into crypto who might not otherwise have paid attention. None of this helps their valuation.
Their worthy idealism doesn't mesh with the present realities of the financial system. There just isn't any reason for an individual to use Dogecoin over fiat money in any situation. People use it out of passion or to demonstrate that it can be used. The devs are ignoring the fact that the main benefit of cryptos is their ability serve as liquid a store of value that has the potential to increase in value over time. The fact that there are ways someone can use Dogecoin to buy computer cables is irrelevant at this point.
Furthermore, one of Dogecoin's main thrusts is to use Dogecoin to assist with charitable ventures. The devs are strangely blind to the fact that their Dogecoin Foundation could do much more to help the unfortunate if 1 Doge = 10 dollars instead of a fraction of a cent.

Anyone looked at Omnicoin? www.hackforums.net has created their own internal crypto-currency with their own pools, plans fpr their own exchange and a very active internal marketplace. I think they re-released it. Anyone can mine it and I guess make pools, etc. because it is a pretty standard altcoin just not publicized anywhere. Full disclosure: I'm mining it now just in-case something happens with it. I can't even buy/sell them because their forum doesn't let noobs post on their marketplace or send PMs to members. Waiting to see if they set up an exchange and if they'll let outsiders trade on it. They're keeping it tight and the reddit/bitcointalk forums are basically stubs. If it gets out into the world could be a good one because of good devs, good community and actual real-world use. The community is very helpful to members just getting into mining, kind of like Dogecoin but for serious computer people.
