2  Economy / Services / web developer needed on: April 08, 2015, 05:08:14 AM
I am preparing to relaunch my coffee business and would very much like to have a custom website built from scratch. The site would be 3-4 pages and need a store area with products and pictures etc., a cart that accepts bitcoin and preferably clams, and if possible a shipping calculator as well. I would like the site to be seo optimized as well.

For the graphic design people I will need a logo and perhaps some label designs for the packages.

We are a month or so from launch so if anyone is interested please contact me via pm for details or to submit a bid.

It would help if you have a design portfolio I could review.

Thanks!
3  Economy / Service Discussion / international shipping? on: August 29, 2014, 04:34:15 AM
I am wondering how the businesses that ship over seas do it. The bit coin economy is an international economy but the requests I have had from potential customers invariably makes it cost prohibitive to sell to them. Most of the time the shipping costs are higher than the product price. If you ship overseas what service do you use?
4  Economy / Services / Need a label design (graphics) on: August 27, 2014, 01:59:31 PM
Bit Beans Coffee needs a label design for our coffee bags. I made one myself and ordered a few but to be honest it didn't come out well at all. My skills are culinary rather than graphic.

I would need a label to have printed on stickers listing our company name, location, web address, and a short description of our House Blend coffee.

Our 2 lb bag is 5" x 3-3/8" x 15" The length will be closer to 10" after sealing. The sticker will be a bit smaller to fit on the front of the bag.

As we add more varietals to our line up we will need designs for each so if the price is right and we like the labels we will be coming back pretty frequently.

PM me if interested. Please include a link to a few samples of your work.

Thanks!
5  Economy / Goods / Bit Beans Coffee Company Escrow Provided. Free coffee while it lasts! on: August 25, 2014, 04:07:47 PM
Bit Beans Coffee Company is now taking orders.

Who are we?

Bit Beans Coffee Company is a start up bitcoin business providing high quality freshly roasted coffee beans at a great price. We are located in a small mountain town in Western PA. Our ethics and values make the choice to sell coffee beans for crypto currency an easy one. We will not accept fiat currency in exchange for our beans. Our website is www.bitbeanscoffee.com.

How are we different?

When a batch of beans is roasted, the flavor compounds begin to evaporate slowly into the air and are lost forever. Industrial coffee beans found in your average market have been sourced by companies looking for the lowest cost and then warehoused for weeks and months at a time by the roaster and then the store. This results inevitably in low quality coffee beans that are placed in a fancy bag or a bulk bin and sold as a "premium coffee."

Our beans are roasted to order by a well respected roaster in small batches and are literally still warm as they leave the roasting house to arrive at our door within 24 hours. We order small batches because our goal is for our coffee to arrive at your door step less than 7 days after roasting.

How do we provide value?

Our coffee is priced to allow bitcoiners to have a good cup of coffee on a daily basis. We don't believe you should have to pay a premium to do business in this economy and our prices reflect that. We operate on a smaller profit margin because we believe that providing great coffee for a great price will not only benefit the bitcoin economy but also increase our sales volume through repeat business that over time will more than make up for a smaller than usual mark up.

How do we earn your trust?

We don't expect anyone to trust us right away. Relationships take time and these forums are filled with stories of scams and scam attempts. That's why have placed .5 bitcoin with a trusted escrow service on this forum. If you place an order and do not receive it you can file a claim with the escrow service for the full amount you paid. I will ask him to post in this thread to confirm the tx and arrangement. If at any point we have orders in process that add up to over .5 btc we will make an additional deposit.

How does our order process work?

You can place your order here in this thread by simply posting that you would like to order or you can order through our website form. If you post your order here I will reply with a payment address we can arrange shipping by private message or e-mail. If you place your order through the form on our website I will send an e-mail with the payment address and we can arrange shipping by e-mail.

Your information is only shared with our escrow service in case of a claim. Our website does not require registration so there is no database to be sold or hacked.

What future plans do we have?

Once we get through the proof of concept stage we will start adding some different blends and single source beans to our inventory. We are trying out an espresso roast now that will likely be on the site within a few weeks. We also plan to carry some equipment like french press and chemex brewers. If sales volume allows it we intend to increase our order size and pass even more savings on to our customers. As volume grows we plan to start talking with our suppliers about accepting bitcoin. It is a goal of ours for this to become a fully crypto currency business. In the mean time we will only exchange what we need to purchase inventory and supplies.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. We invite you to take a look at our website and thank you for allowing us to serve your coffee needs.

6  Economy / Service Discussion / Need trusted escrow agent on: August 24, 2014, 08:54:16 PM
I need a trusted escrow agent for Bit Beans Coffee Company. Since we are a new business it makes sense to put some coins into escrow in the early going so that my customers can order my product without fear of being scammed. I would simply need someone to hold the BTC and confirm they have it in my business thread. If a customer has placed an order but not received it within a certain time frame they can make a claim with the escrow agent who is authorized to refund them their purchase amount if I cannot prove the order was delivered via tracking number from the USPS.

This would be a short term arrangement to gain some trust with the community. I would prefer a hero member that has done escrow before. Let me know a price and we can make arrangements.

Thanks!
7  Economy / Service Discussion / best processor? on: August 20, 2014, 01:40:15 PM
I am starting up a coffee bean selling company and was wondering what the best processor would be for my sales. My site is going to be bitcoin only payments but I will need to cash out a portion to use for inventory.

If you own a merchant site that accepts bit coin what do you use? I have checked out bother bitpay and coin base. I am leaning toward bit pay but wanted some input from people that are experienced with this sort of thing.

Thanks in advance!
8  Economy / Goods / Coffee Beans for Bitcoin! Bit Beans Coffee Company *in stock ready to ship!* on: August 20, 2014, 09:28:46 AM
This first post is kind of a feeler to gauge interest and solicit feedback on this business idea.

I am starting the Bit Beans Coffee Company. We will be selling high quality freshly roasted coffee beans for bitcoin.

Most coffee available in supermarkets has been warehoused for weeks or months at a time and is quite stale by the time it hits the shelves of your mega mart. Our coffee will be ordered weekly in small batches that are still warm from roasting when they leave the roaster. We will receive them within 24 hours of roasting so there is not a fresher coffee bean available to most people.

We will start with custom city roast blend designed for balanced flavor and acidity. These will come in 1 pound foil bags sealed with a constant heat sealer to preserve freshness and flavor. We will be adding new blends as we grow. We will have a full city roast and probably a Vienna roast for espresso lovers. There will also be an option to order 5 pound bags at a discount as this business grows.

I am anxious to get started so I am placing my first order of beans this week. For now we will use this thread as the order thread. If you want to try out our coffee say so in this thread and I will post a payment address with the price including shipping for you. As soon as payment arrives your order will ship. We will ship daily at regular USPS prices.

We don’t have a fancy logo or website just yet but we do have excellent coffee at a good price.

At the current btc price each one pound bag will be .024. This will be updated frequently.

If there is a good amount of interest I will place larger orders with my wholesaler and pass on the savings to you.

As volume grows I also plan to start talking bit coin with my supplier because I would like this to be a complete bitcoin business. For now we will be exchanging only what we need for inventory and supplies.

Thanks in advance for your feedback and I hope you will give our coffee a chance.
9  Bitcoin / Meetups / Western PA? on: June 07, 2014, 07:48:56 AM
Anyone in the Altoona/Johnstown area that would be interested in starting a monthly or bi weekly meet up?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Intellectual pursuit question--POS on: June 03, 2014, 09:17:08 PM
I spend way too much time thinking about bit coin but I was wondering what people thought of the idea of eventually adding a POS protocol to bit coin in order to stabilize the supply as coins are lost over the years. If it were one in a regular and automated way so that no person could manipulate it would you be open to the idea?

I personally don't pretend to know enough to have a strong opinion either way but the idea is an interesting solution to a perceived down the road issue.
11  Economy / Services / At home jobs paid in Bitcoin on: May 13, 2014, 03:21:11 PM
This is just a preliminary post to sort of gauge interest in an idea I am mulling over.

I contract with a company to provide at home customer service for various major US companies. I am incorporated in PA and have the ability to hire customer service agents to work from their home offices and earn wages that I am willing to convert and pay out in bitcoin. This would be a 1099 contractor type of thing without benefits but you would receive bi weekly payouts on the hours you work at a fairly decent rate.

There are things that you would need to understand from the start. Training with most clients can last from 28 days to a month and a half. You would be investing typically about 4 hours a day five days a week for the training period. At the end of the training there will normally be a certification exam and mock phone calls or chats. Once completed you have the ability to select hours and begin earning bitcoin.

The pay rate varies by client but ranges from around $8 fiat per hour up to $12-13. I will receive invoices and payments from these clients every two weeks and after conversion to bitcoin will send out payments on a regular bi-monthly schedule. I will with hold a small percentage for conversion fees and record keeping. Most contracts require 15-20 hours per week commitment so you can earn a steady stream of BTC in your spare time.

This is not something that you would get rich doing. This is just a way to earn some BTC on a part time basis. 20 hours a week at .02 per hour depending on which client you service will be a pessimistic estimate.

My requirements would be strict.
You would have to submit to background check. Any history of theft or fraud would be an automatic disqualification.
You would have to have a quiet home office with high speed internet and a dedicated land line telephone.
You must do an interview with me by telephone and submit a work history.
You must show up on time every time for your shifts and meet performance guidelines including customer feed back and minimum hours worked each week.
You must treat this the same way you would treat any other job and demonstrate professionalism at all times.

I have a ten year relationship with these companies and am not willing to risk my reputation and relationship.

We do work with some major US companies including Apple, AAA, Sprint, ATT, Orkin, Disney, and Rogers Communications from Canada to name a few.

The above requirements are not negotiable but this is legitimate work and I will pay bi-weekly in bitcoin.

I am in the early stages of this and going on vacation later this week so I would not be starting any potential interviews etc. until after June 1st but would appreciate any thoughts or feedback from the community on this.

13  Economy / Computer hardware / Need 3 asic block erupter blades on: April 09, 2014, 04:11:30 AM
Hi! I need 3 rev2 block erupter blades to finish my rig. I will pay in bitcoin with escrow. I am lucky enough to have very inexpensive electricity so they are still profitable for me. Rather than collecting dust let me know your price and you can recoup some of your original investment and I can finish my first rig. I prefer all O's in the chipset obviously but will consider less if the price is right.

Post here or send me a pm.

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The trust issue on: April 01, 2014, 06:57:59 PM
It is clear to anyone that has been in the crypto currency world for any amount of time that there is a trust deficit with bitcoin businesses. You only need to cruise this forum a bit to read story after story about people getting burned by irresponsible or fraudulent businesses or individuals. This hurts all of us. The lack of trust makes people less likely to do business with the legitimate merchants and individuals that would like to transact business in bitcoin and bitcoin owners get hurt as well because there are less options for doing business in bitcoin. Less options mean less competition which means higher prices and less innovation.

If someone were to start an organization to rate merchants and certify them as a trusted crypto currency business based on clear publicly stated criteria would you as a business be interested in providing potential customers with peace of mind and would you as a consumer be more likely to do business with someone that has been vetted by an impartial and transparent organization?

This would not be a BBB for bit coin kind of thing. The BBB in the analog economy is just as corrupt as the rest of the system. This would be a rating system based on reports and data compiled and made publicly available.

If you feel this would be a good thing why? What kinds of things would you like to see included in the criteria? Would you be more likely to do business with a cloud mining company that has a verifiable address and proof of an actual mining farm on file with such an organization?

If you feel this would be a bad idea please explain why.

I am not proposing anything at this point, I just see a need in the community and would like to see it addressed in an ethical way.
